I would give him higher than a 5 if I could, Steve was amazing. He was knowledgeable and was really a history buff. He was excited to share all he knew about the places we went. He gave additional information about the places we went and answered all of our questions. He enjoyed talking with my son who is also a huge history buff too. He was flexible about stopping for food etc. This was a day well spent seeing the sights and the towns and villages nearby.

Being able to see the actual battlefield area. It gave me a better understanding of the battle.
The tour guide was knowledgeable. He had large maps of the battle to help us understand the battle. He was also very considerate of the slowest walker (me).
I was impressed with his preparation, He had water for us, fruit and cookies if we wanted.
I would take another tour from him.

When I booked this trip for my husband, I thought “yawn”, be the nice wife and go along! Can I say that I was not bored at all…. Matt is extremely engaging and very knowledgeable which made the day. From agreeing to a hotel pickup prior to the tour at a cost which we were happy to pay. To tea and cake in Seelow heights, water, plenty of bathroom stops and a fantastic lunch to end the day.
Each stop told a story and being able to walk the battlefield and trenches gave you a greater perspective of what the Russian army had to endure. A lot is known about the western front and it was amazing to discuss the eastern front.
The tour is about 7-8 hours but it flys by… disappointed now we did not book another tour with the group. I would highly recommend for any wife, but wear boots for the journey into the fields

Wonderful tour! Matthew, the tour guide, was very funny and knowledgeable. At each stop, a complete timeline was explained to help understand the events that took place during this battle. The restaurant that we stopped at for lunch was amazing! Would recommend this tour.

This tour was so unlike all the other tours available that I just had to book it to see what it was about! And it certainly did not disappoint.
This tour was fantastic and so well thought through and organised. You can tell Matt (tour guide) has a serious passion for the history of these battlefields and provided the history in a fun and interactive way.
Would highly recommend this tour to all. After the tour we really wanted to re-book with Matt for another tour, he was just that good!

This trip was amazing! Our guide Matt was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the battle. He paid attention to the details and was very fun to talk to. Lunch at the traditional German restaurant was amazing also! Worth every penny. Standing on the heights in the trenches over looking the battle fields listening to Matt describe the scene gave us chills. Everyone should learn about the insanity that was the battle at Seelow heights.

Matthew Menneke is a knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide for the Seelow Heights battleground. He drove the van with only five of us out from Berlin and stopped at several points to understand the lay of the land and the stages of the battle over four days. After reading about the battle as an armchair historian, this tour was exactly what I hoped it would be. We finished with a savory late lunch in the late-summer sunshine.

Having spent the day with Matt, i can honestly say this has been the highlight of my visit to Berlin. He has so much passion for history and this becomes blatantly obvious when he takes you to the key sites. Through his detailed explanations including maps and photos, we are gifted with an insight in to the colossal scale on which this area was subject to conflict, many scars of which are plain as day to see on the tour. If you’re thinking about booking, just go for it! You will certainly enjoy it regardless of your level of interest (if any even) in world war 2 history. Absolutely awesome job Matt, cannot thank you enough!

Matthew Menneke did an excellent job on this tour. He provided a very interesting commentary at each of the stops along the way and during the drive. I am surprised that there is not more information available about this battle and to be able to stand in the places where Marshall Zhukov stood as well as where the German forces were dug in was both eye-opening and humbling considering how violent and horrific this battle was. Matthew's knowledge of this battle is thorough and detailed. I highly recommend this tour and, of course, Matthew as a guide.
