Don’t Go to an Art Museum Without This Guide

I took this tour over a year ago and still think about it and tell people about it. My recommendation, don’t go to a museum in Amsterdam without this guide! He is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly where the things you want to see are located. Because of his knowledge, we stood in front of Night Watch alone for a few minutes! Unheard of! Beyond that, I wanted an education about a very specific period of art, The Dutch Masters movement. That was all I wanted but I wanted that in-depth and had lots of questions. He knew exactly where these works were. He could give me detail about each artist, the movement and the specific painting in front of us. He didn’t seem judgy when we finished those works and I didn’t want to see anything more. I would never go back to Amsterdam without getting on this guide’s schedule before I planned the trip. Read my other reviews, I’ve never been this emphatic before. My only regret, that I didn’t take the time to write this review earlier.

The museum is very large and without a wonderful guide like Michael it would be impossible to navigate. This was a fantastic experience. You got to see Rembrandt’s most famous paintings and why he was a fantastic painter. Because of Michael we got to know Rembrandt’s life and why he ended up bankrupt. Great experience overall!

Rijksmuseum Tour for 7 People

This excursion was very easy to arrange before I traveled to Europe. Additionally, it was very easy to communicate with the vendor who was kind enough to provide contact details for the tour guide. On the day of the tour the guide met this group of 7 on time, was very professional and proceeded to guide us around the amazing Rijksmuseum. The vendor followed up with me to assure all my needs had been met...I will most definitely use Viator for future excursions.

Edgar Our guide was very knowledgeable , but became a bit frustrated with us as we did not move along fast enough for him and mumbled so it was a bit difficult at times to hear him.

I went to Amsterdam for the sole purpose of visiting the Rijksmuseum. I love art but am in no way an expert. I know next to nothing about the Dutch Masters so I thought the best way to see the Rijksmuseum would be with a private tour guide. Kayleigh is so knowledgeable about her craft and made learning fun and engaging. I learned about symbolism and now I can pick out tiny details and understand their meanings that previously I would have overlooked. Furthermore, Kayleigh has a great sense of humor so it felt less like a tour and more like looking at art with a friend for a couple hours. Don’t hesitate about booking this tour- it’s the best money I’ve ever spent!

Loved the art. And the museum was great. I expected a fun tour. Art can be fun...ours was not. Edgar seemed to be in a hurry and we missed so much of the museum, but we're not told why. We all felt seeing the museum in another fashion..maybe even on our own

Hi Rebecca, thank you for leaving this review. As you have discovered, the Rijksmuseum is huge and even if you spent an entire day there, it would not be possible it see everything. Our 2 hour tour is designed to show the highlights of the Rijksmuseum, and you are welcome to stay in the museum after the tour to explore it further. We also included tickets for the new exhibition, which are not part of a standard booking.
