At whichever time suits you best, make your way to the Washington DC Welcome Center, and board your hop-on, hop-off trolley bus.

Settle in and begin your flexible tour of Washington DC. Listen to your guide's commentary as you pass the White House, the National Mall, and many other major sights.

When you reach a stop that interests you, simply disembark and spend as much time as you'd like exploring. Trolleys arrive roughly every half hour, so you can hop back on when you're done.

This tour also includes transportation to Arlington National Cemetery, and a trip past its major sights.

Operating Schedule: Trolley tours depart every half hour from Union Station (50 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002) beginning at 9am until 4pm. Tour operates daily. Shuttle available from Lincoln Memorial to transfer to Arlington National Cemetery for that portion of the tour. Shuttles run every half hour from 9am - 3:30pm. Arlington National Cemetery Tours run 8:30am - 4pm.

A great way to see DC!

It was great to DC without having to walk everywhere. You can get off to spend more time at a stop and hop onto the next trolley.

Stuck In DC

This would have been a great experience, but we were not informed ahead of time that many roads and locations were unavailable because of the car race going on the same weekend. We missed about half the route. We couldn’t even get close enough to the White House to see it. Also, the last pickup of the day did not show up!! The bus was supposed to be at the Lincoln Memorial at 4:30. A group of us were waiting at 4:15. The bus did not arrive until 5:30. We had to call dispatch to get a bus to come pick us up. They said it was because of traffic, but it was an empty bus that came for us, so the bus in route, “stuck in traffic,” was not the one that came to get us. They just stopped the routes early and didn’t intend to make that last round of pickups. If it had been posted on the website, and we knew before purchasing the tickets, that would be on us, but that did not happen. When we were dropped off we were told we would be picked up at 4:30. On a positive note, our initial driver, Barbara, was fantastic!!! She was friendly and personable, and told us about the city while asking us trivia questions. Her positive attitude was contagious! If we hadn’t been going to the Veteran’s Memorial we would have ridden the entire loop with her just to hear her stories! Thanks Barbara for a great experience on your bus!! Moral of the story- call them and ask if all routes and stops are running before buying tickets! And ask for Barbara!!

I bought the 21 stops with Arlington Cemetery and when we all got on at Union Station the driver said we couldn’t go to 7 stops plus the cemetery… the whole group was upset because we should have been told… I bought my ticket right before I went so you knew those stops were closed!

Difficult to find a bus

The starting point was listed as union station, theDC welcome center or any of the stops. We didn't want to Uber to board, so we walked to the Welcome Center. No bus came ever. We saw them on the roads so we ran after them. All day! Never catching one until the Lincoln Memorial. What a hike! Then it went to the union station and we had to disembark. Wait for another bus and took it back to the hotel as there wasn't enough time to get off and see anything before the 4pm end. Plus the 21 stops it was supposed to make was cut down to about 7. Had I known at booking, I wouldn't have wasted the money.

Well worth the price, use it to orient yourself to the city. Then go back next day to see things you didn’t get off to see. Jump off in cemetery first day,changing of guards.

I did not receive any instructions as to where to get on the trolley. It was supposed to be a good time to see the sight in DC. I paid for services that was not able to use. I now know why they make sure cancellation is not allowed. They are taking advantage of visitors to dc because we know no where.

It was a great tour , despite the Indy cars being there and the roads were closed . Rooster was a great guide , he was very knowledgeable and kept everyone involved. I would most definitely recommend this tour .

The drivers were amazing but 75% of the stops were closed for the upcoming Grand Prix 250. There was no warning until we literally were getting on the trolley. This was a major event that his Been under works for days but not stated in the advertisement

Unfortunately multiple stops were Impacted by road closures. But the guides and drivers did the best they could to alter the original route to help maximize what you could see and attend. Very good tour, will 100% recommend.

Purchased the tour which includes Arlington Cemetery....waited for close to an hour to get on that connection. Identification stickers could not be pealed off...left glue on shirts...a pain to remove. Used Viator all over Europe and they were great....very disappointed in this tour.

Very friendly staff but the waits for Trolly are a little long. The stops are great and the trolly to the Arlington Cemetery is separate one but also nice. I highly recommend it.

I believe the drivers name was birdie or Bernie. Not sure. Either way, the narration in the ride was incredible. She have lots of recommendations of where to go, what to do, things to see or eat. It was everything I needed in this solo trip. She also advised us which museums were free, which required ticketed times and which had to be paid for. I would have loved to go longer if my trip wasn’t so short.

45 minute wait times for each stop

Don’t do it - there were two buses not operating and after waiting 45 minutes to get picked up for the Jefferson memorial and the Lincoln memorial we gave up - took uber rest if the way Also if doing in the summer just know no air conditioning

It was wonderful. We have used Viator previously and loved it..this experience was no different. The drivers were very informative about DC. Because of construction one of the stops were unavailable and we were supposed to walk back to the previous stop. One of the lady drivers came and picked up several people because it was so hot and took us back to the previous stop so we didn't have to walk to catch our trolly. Top rate for Viator!

Buy a ticket for whatever hop on hop off bus you find. There’s no signs so to find where they stopped is very difficult. Half of our day is gone and we still haven’t gotten on the bus yet.

This was an awesome tour. There’s no way we could’ve seen the sites on our own. It’s a great way to visit. Washington DC, avoid all the traffic, meet people and take it all in. I would highly recommend this tour. The guides are awesome and full of information about each attraction.

Multiple times we had to wait 30-40 minutes for a bus. Despite using the bus all day we were not able to see many sights because of time. I have used Old Towne Trolley in other cities & have not had a problem. I will NEVER use them again. The drivers can’t drive & tell us interesting facts at the same time. No driver seemed to know very much about Washington dc

The police can close...

The police can close roads and the trollies can't go to their stop (waited for 45+ minutes). If you call the number on the pamphlet you go to an operator and have to be transferred. We were hung up on and had to call back. Person wasn't helpful and was put on hold multiple times. Barely got to go through Arlington cemetery missed many experiences because of time.
