Show up 1 hour before your booking. They should put that in all capitals because it was not made clear to me. Also book on the website not Viator. Viator customer service is awful.

Very unforgiving. Bad experience. No consideration. You are a sheep. They do not care about your experience.

I showed up at 8am when the reservation was scheduled for. My friend and I were denied joining the trip because out of the 6 emails we had gotten about the trip, I had missed in one single email at the very bottom that we had to show up 45 minutes early. It was pouring rain when we got there for the reservation time, and asked if we would be able to join a later reservation because there were openings with that party and there was a break in the rain. Staff was pretty blunt and rude and said no because they had already were 10 minutes into the welcome speech and it was our fault for being late and we had to contact viator to see if we could move the reservation and they had nothing to do with the reservations that are placed third party. We called viator and they told us that the ranch gives the ultimate OK to move reservations, and when inquired the ranch still said no. We paid $180 for this trip EACH and they were very unaccommodating

I booked a horseback riding excursion at Kualoa Ranch through the Viator app, and one of the main reasons I felt comfortable booking was because the listing specifically stated that this excursion requires good weather and that if it was canceled due to weather, guests would receive either a full refund or the option to rebook.
The day of our scheduled ride, there were severe weather warnings issued all day for high winds and flooding. Based on the safety concerns and the language in the listing, I reasonably believed the excursion would be canceled. Instead, when I reached out to Kualoa Ranch for a refund they stated the rides go on “rain or shine” and refused to issue any refund or rebooking option.
This is extremely frustrating and misleading because the listing does not disclose a rain-or-shine policy. It explicitly suggests that weather conditions are a factor in whether the excursion proceeds. Had the listing been accurate and transparent, I would not have booked under those conditions because I don’t want to be on a horse during a windy flood.
I also contacted Viator customer support expecting them to honor the policy listed on their own platform. Unfortunately, they also refused to provide a refund and were unable to explain why the listing states the excursion requires good weather if the vendor claims they operate regardless of conditions. Jerome from Viator then left the chat when I asked for an explanation.
This experience felt deceptive and left me paying for an excursion I reasonably believed would be canceled for safety reasons. I would strongly encourage future customers to clarify the vendor’s actual weather policy before booking, as the listing language does not appear to reflect how this excursion is truly operated.

Excellent for a first time rider. There were video and verbal instructions addressing safety protocols. The check-in process went smoothly and there is a waiting area in the barn where the horses are quartered. Horses are easily mounted from a platform. The scenery along the forested trail is nice.

Beautiful place to ride horses for 2 hours. Iris our guide was fantastic. She pointed out everything about the ranch and all the movies filmed there.

What a fantastic way to experience Kualoa Ranch. Jake our guide was fantastic, helpful and had a great sense of humor. The views were absolutely stunning and the horses were so peaceful and well behaved.
Keri_G, Apr 2025
The meet up location we received from the app was incorrect and we arrived at 8:15 to the ranch, then waiting in line caused us to miss our cutoff time and were not allowed to ride. there were no other time available and refund was not possible. My children cried and it was heartbreaking for me.
Robyn_R, Feb 2025
Great overall experience! You spend a lot of time in the saddle, so your knees and rear get a bit sore from sitting there for so long (2 hours). Zero experience needed for sure, the horses stay at a slow walk the entire time, but if you are unable to sit on a horse that long or have bad knees or a bad back, I would not recommend. Isaiah our guide was amazing. Some of the other guests were not listening to the rules and almost got kicked out due to safety reasons (letting their horses get too close to the person in front, in danger of getting kicked by another person’s horse) so if you are unable to follow simple instructions due to a language barrier, maturity, or age, again I would recommend something else. The views are amazing, and it’s a peaceful way to experience a gorgeous piece of nature.

The scenery is gorgeous and we were lucky enough to see a little bit of a rodeo at the main ranch afterwards

It was AMAZING to walk along the cliffside of the Ranch and see the turquoise waters of the nearby beaches. The guides were so lovely and helpful as we all got our bearings on the horses. Thank you so much Melia and Emma!
