Your experience on the water begins at the tour office on Bowens Island. Once you’ve signed in with your captain, hop aboard your eco boat—smaller and less-crowded than many other similar sightseeing vessels—and head out on the water.
This leisurely tour encourages you to soak up the peaceful ambiance and to discover a side of the Charleston region that many visitors overlook. As you sail towards Morris Island, your guide will share in-depth stories about the region that you wouldn’t encounter on your own.
Upon arrival at Morris Island, make the most of the scenery and have the freedom to explore at your own pace. Look out for wildlife, comb the beach for shells, and immerse yourself in the unspoiled coastal habitat.
Finally, return by boat to your departure point just a few hours after setting off, leaving you plenty of time to continue your Charleston sightseeing.

- Please note there is a stop at Morris Island where travelers can visit for about 45 minutes to an hour. During this time, you can walk around and explore the island. However, this may pose an issue for wheelchair accessibility. Travelers have the option to remain onboard during this stop if they choose.
- Restrooms are available before departure. Please note that there are no restrooms available for the duration of the tour.
- Please arrive 15 minutes early for departure to check in at the Charleston Outdoor Adventures office. This ensures a smooth and timely start to your adventure.

This tour was really great! I would recommend it to everyone! We saw a ton of dolphins. The lighthouse was great. We found a lot of shells and even found several sand dollars!! Our guide Craig was awesome!! He was very knowledgeable and entertaining!!

The trip was very enjoyable. The location and old buildings made the trip more authentic. The office staff were very nice and helpful. Our guide Jacob, was very good and his knowledge of the area and wild life was very informative. The small tour group size enabled everyone to be engaged. We would take this tour again and also do the kayak adventure. Good job.

Matt was super knowledgeable. He explained so many interesting things about the TONS of dolphins that we saw, how they fed, how they slept, how they hunted. We loved Morris Island and found a couple of sharks teeth. 10/10, for sure.

This was a wonderful activity. Boat ride through the marshes seeing pristine landscapes & wildlife. Our guide PJ was charming & knowledgeable. We learned a lot of the ecology of low country & of the animals. ( dolphins, oysters, marine life & birds). Highly recommend this trip.

If you have minimal time in Charleston, I would skip this adventure. The tour guide, PJ, was a wealth of knowledge and made it interesting, but I think other adventures might have been more preferable...such as visiting Folly Beach.

We learned so much and it was a lot of fun. We saw so many dolphin pods, oyster beds and much more. Found beautiful shells and so many sharks teeth while on the island exploring. Definitely a trip to take with the rest of the family!

We had a fun, shaded, breezy and educational experience on board their boat while we whipped through the estuary outside of Charleston. PJ was our captain, and he definitely had the knowledge and local experience to make our trip that much better. Highly recommend taking a cruise with COA!

It was such a great day! Captain John gave us wonderful information on the way to and back from the lighthouse. We had plenty of time to explore the island and check out the scenery. Highly recommend, will definitely be back!
