KD was very knowledgeable, fun, respectful, kind, and helpful on our boat trip to Morris Island. It was fun seeing the island and searching for shells. KD answered all questions as if they were the first time she heard them. A very pleasant day out on the water learning about the waterways and wildlife around Charleston.

The journey through the waters of the low country was amazing. Chris was so knowledgeable and passionate as he taught us about the ecosystem. We learned so much in a short period of time. We loved seeing and learning about dolphins and birds and high and low tides. It was the best two and a half hour trip.
Response from Host, May 2026
That sounds like an incredible time on the water. The Lowcountry really comes alive when you start to understand how everything connects, and it sounds like Chris did a great job bringing that to life with his knowledge and passion.

Despite the chilly, dismal weather, we had a great experience. Our Captain George conveyed his love of this beautiful space and was very passionate about the importance of protecting it. We spotted many dolphins throughout the day. Although not the focus, great for bird lovers too. Saw all kinds of shore birds. Would definitely do again & hope for sunshine!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Even with the chilly, overcast weather, it sounds like you still had a really meaningful day on the water. Those kinds of conditions can actually make wildlife sightings feel even more special, and it’s great that the dolphins were active throughout your trip.
Captain George clearly made a strong impression as well. A guide who can share both his passion for the area and the importance of protecting it adds a lot of depth to the experience. That kind of perspective helps guests connect more with the environment while they’re out there.

My daughter and I went out on Sunday with Chris to Morris Island. She had a blast as we cruised through the Estuary and saw birds, dolphins while we were entertained by our captain for the day. She drew his attention as she loves to go fast and get spayed by the ocean water! We had a great time exploring and collecting shells, and shark teeth. We both cannot recommend it enough!!
Thank you!!

That sounds like such a special day for both of you. Cruising through the estuary, spotting birds and dolphins, and sharing those moments together is what makes these trips so memorable.

leigh_a, Apr 2026
Fun experience. The Captain was friendly and knowledgeable and I think the trip was worth the money. I do wish we had been told to bring a towel. I take a little boat out fishing all the time and never get wet. Several passengers got sprayed/soaked and none of us had a towel.
On this particular day, I wish we had been offered the chance to reschedule. The wind was blowing so hard there was a small craft advisory, and it really made the trip miserable. I would love to do something like this again in more pleasant weather, and I would probably choose the fossil tour.
Know before you go: once you leave, no bathrooms. Not on the boat, not on the island. Don't have a salty lunch!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. It’s great to hear that you found the captain friendly and knowledgeable and that you felt the trip was worth it overall. A guide who helps guests feel informed and welcomed makes a big difference, especially when conditions are less than ideal.
Your comments about the weather and what to bring are especially helpful. Wind and spray can definitely change the feel of a trip, and when conditions are rough enough to make guests uncomfortable, clearer communication about what to expect—can make a big difference. Letting dressing for spray, and the lack of restroom access once the trip begins would also help people feel better prepared. Both weather and restrooms are mentioned on our direct website. Overall buying tickets from a 3rd party doesn't always give as much detail as the direct selling and service provider.
Charleston Outdoor Adventures values feedback like yours because it helps improve the guest experience from start to finish. It’s encouraging to hear that despite the rough conditions, you’d still consider coming back for another tour, and the fossil tour could be a great fit in calmer weather.
gabrielle_F, Apr 2026
Beautiful scenery! Saw lovely birds and many dolphins!!! Just Bundle up, especially if windy day!! Bring blanket to sit on beach, bring snax!
Boat driver informative, pleasant.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Beautiful scenery and lots of dolphins always make for a memorable trip. Spotting birds along the way adds even more to the experience, especially out in the marsh and along the shoreline.
Those tips are right on point—wind on the water can make it feel much cooler, so bundling up and bringing a blanket for the beach makes a big difference. Snacks are always a great idea too, especially when you have time to relax on the island.
A pleasant, informative captain really ties it all together. Charleston Outdoor Adventures aims to create trips that are comfortable, engaging, and full of great moments like the ones you described.
Francesca_D, Apr 2026

We traveled with a group of 8 people-4 adults, 4 kids (ages 8-13) and we all LOVED it!! It was a cloudy, windy day so the boat tour was perfect timing to take a break from beach/pool time. Our Captain, Jacob, was friendly, knowledgeable, a patient with our endless questions. Though windy, the boat ride was safe and comfortable and we were all super excited to see a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the boat!! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves a bit of nature, boat rides, and learning a little more about the area. A fantastic experience and considering other tours with this same company!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
What a great way to mix things up, especially with a group that includes both kids and adults. Getting out on the water on a cloudy, windy day can end up being the perfect change of pace, and it sounds like the timing worked out really well for everyone.
