Exploring Pompeii

Leo was terrific Exploring Pompeii was fascinating and very educational. Leo moved us, an entire bus full, through the crowds and explained everything that happened "over 2,00 years ago" He kept us moving and allowed us to see how the city lived before Vesuvius erupted and doomed them all. Since it was an afternoon excursion, we needed to get back to the ship on time, and Leo made that happen. Highly recommend this excursion and Leo in particular.

Waiting 6 months for Hike

I booked this tour for the hike alone. I enjoyed Pompeii, and Robertta did an amazing job. She is the sweetest, and I feel like we got to see and experience more of Pompeii with her than if we had gone on our own! The hike was interesting. I wish we had a little more time there personally. I enjoyed being at the top and meeting different people.

Easy, “fast” and interesting experience from Naples to Pompeii. Van pickup was smooth and quick. Tour (Francesca was tour guide) was about 90 minutes (she probably cut it a bit short because it was pouring rain and some of us were cranky). Francesca kept it fun, interesting and not boring.

This was hands down my favorite excursion I have EVER done! If you are visiting Naples, especially on a cruise, I cannot recommend this experience enough! Our driver, Luigi, was absolutely AMAZING! He was incredibly knowledgeable about Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast, sharing so much history and information about each destination along the way. He truly made the entire experience so special, and I am forever grateful! We were visiting Naples on a cruise and only had about eight hours in port, so timing was extremely important. Luigi went above and beyond to make sure we had enough time to explore and enjoy each destination while being very mindful of our cruise ship’s departure time. He made the entire day feel seamless, and we never had to worry about getting back to the ship on time! The scenery along the coast was absolutely breathtaking, and getting to experience the beautiful towns, incredible landscapes, and rich history of this part of Italy was something I will never forget. If you have a full day in Naples, PLEASE book this excursion! Whether you’re arriving by cruise ship or simply visiting the area, it is 100% worth it. This was truly one of the highlights of my entire trip to Europe, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Luigi and this experience. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Having a Great Guide Brings Ercolano to Life!

If you are deciding between Pompeii and Herculaneum, do not miss Herculaneum—and make sure you do it with a guide! Exploring this remarkably preserved ancient city was an absolute highlight of our trip, and having an expert guide made all the difference. Because Herculaneum was buried by volcanic mud rather than ash, the level of detail is astonishing. Seeing original wooden beams, two-story houses, intricate mosaics, and even carbonized furniture intact after nearly 2,000 years felt completely surreal. It is much more intimate and remarkably well-preserved than Pompeii. What truly elevated the entire experience was our phenomenal guide. Their depth of knowledge, passion, and storytelling ability brought the ancient streets to life. Instead of just looking at ruins, we understood the daily lives, culture, and tragic final moments of the people who lived here. Every question we had was answered with incredible detail and enthusiasm, and they navigated us perfectly through the site to highlight the absolute best preserved spots. This tour was deeply fascinating, educational, and moving. I cannot recommend visiting Herculaneum with a knowledgeable guide enough

Really more a transport...

Really more a transport service to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello although some commentary during the drive. Amalfi and Ravello have more to do than Positano which is just a crowed shopping town. Would rather have more time in Amalfi (church and lunch and boat ride) and Ravello (villas and gardens and church). But at least got to go to the places.

Vincenzo was not only very knowledgeable regarding the Pompeii and Herculeum disasters and re-discovery, but he was patient and amusing. What a positive experience he provided for all in the group! We certainly left with full appreciation for the sites as amazing treasures, as well as appreciation for the creative knowledge possessed and practiced at the time. We think we are so “modern” and knowledgeable but a visit here proves that we are but repeating history. Vincenzo was factual, a real font of experience with the historical background that allowed us to imagine and appreciate the experience of Pompeii and Herculeum life!

Great informative tour

Great informative tour ,tour guide had excellent knowledge of pompei and it was a great experience . The climb up the volcano was quite tough but it was a hot day and we chose to do it and it was worth it for the views If you want souvenirs don’t buy them at the outside of the pompei site so much cheaper at the volcano for same things . The lunch included was good and quickly served All in an enjoyable day

Excellent Tour; A couple notes however.

Excellent excursion. Exactly as described. You have two guides: the first accompanied you to the start of the the Vesuvius hike and afterwards until you enter the Pompei ruins. The Pompei guide takes over after lunch. Very good hike up Vesuvius. Audioguide provided interesting information. Tour guide at Pompei also was excellent. A couple notes: the time allowed at Vesuvius should be 15-30 minutes longer. .We are strong hikers but the time to take in the views felt rushed; slower hikers may have trouble completing it on time. Also, you are given one hour free time between Vesuvius and Pompei for lunch on your own. However, the guide put on a very hard sell for one particular restaurant which he then lead most of the group to, and disparaged all the other restaurants in the area as tourist traps. We disregarded the pressure and had a wonderful and less expensive lunch at one of the other restaurants.

Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi day trip

It was worth taking this trip because it covered multiple historical areas in a very comfortable setting. Although the tour guide was exceptional cover I never do these trips just because they feel that there is too much of a formality to everything but he was great with his knowledge of everything, giving us history of the locations and so on. The driver stephano was great, there is just in some incredibly tight roads and sharing it with other drivers and large buses could be challenging, but he handled like a true pro common definitely recommend this trip to anyone that's interested insane some wonderful areas that are incredibly historical and beautiful. A+
