The meeting point was confusing. The guide at Pompeii was very informational and entertaining. The bus to Pompeii was poorly air conditioned but it was fine back.

Communication from the organizers were not provided, the meeting point was not clear and there was delay in pick up time. Had to reach out to organizers myself, trying to figure out from the emails who to call, glad i had Italian cell service available. The guide who picked us up, did minimal explanation, the bus was poorly air conditioned. At first we had about 15 people on the bus. Once arrived to the Pompeii site, we were handed off to the Pompeii guide who was actually very nice and knowledgeable. Bu our group got much bigger with 31 people in it. Tour itself was good. But the organization of it all was poorly conducted

This was a last minute booking for us. Initially we were not sure we had found the correct meeting point from the instructions - the blue sign described is a parking sign. The better description is to meet between the two security boxes next to the parking lot. I called the number of the tour company to verify we were in the right location, since we didn't see anyone with a sign with our names on it. (But there were two other tour operator people with signs with names). I think the organizer was not punctual - eventually she appeared with a sign with our name on it. She pointed us to the tour bus which we then walked towards, on the street like a block away. The tour bus had about 30 people inside, was clean and comfortable. At Pompeii, the guide was decent. It was a little hard to understand her due to her accent, but with time, became easier to understand. The over-ear microphones helped a lot. The tour guide was knowledgeable and described a lot of facts, but not really a storyteller. She was ok for adults but it was hard for kids to maintain attention in the heat and sun (despite umbrellas and hats). At the end of the tour, we were divided by location drop off, and ours was return to port, so we had to wait 40 minutes for the bus. In that time, we had pizza at the Hotel Vittoria restaurant right across the street from the pick up point. The pizzas were delicious. Overall the tour experience was a decent experience, but I think they need to rewrite the instructions for the meet up point.

We picked up the tour from the cruise terminal and it is all a little chaotic but we found/were found by our tour organiser. Nice small bus, short trip to Pompeii and a very good guide around the site who made it very interesting. Then bussed back to Naples. Well organised. The only thing I would suggest is for the tour organiser to do a little welcome speech when all in the bus with information on how long it is to Pompeii and how the morning will play out etc. Once in the bus nothing was said.

Picked up from Stazione Marittima, once all tourists were together we were marched across the concourse where there were several other tourist groups. Twice our group merged with other groups and tourists could easily have become separated from their group because we couldn’t see the guide who was only 5ft tall! Then she left half the group on a corner while she boarded a coach with some of the group and we didn’t know where she had gone. We found her only by luck!
The Coach driver nearly tipped everyone out of their seats exiting the port as he scraped a parked car and slammed the brakes on! He didn’t stop afterwards!
Once at the site she told us our guide would be 10minutes and we stood waiting for 20minutes until someone went to ask what was going on.
The tour guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable, her English was good but for some people her Italian accent made her difficult to understand through the headset. We underestimated the length of walking tour so we struggled a bit but it was a very good tour.
The return trip was with a different tour guide and coach driver so we weren’t sure what was happening. After returning to the meeting point from the tour we were told to meet back in 5minutes which seemed pointless. We were again kept waiting another 10minutes until all our names were called for the return trip. The return coach trip was uneventful.

This was a terrible experience. The tour guide Erica walked through the ruins too fast. Slower moving people in our group were not able to keep up with Erica’s pace. Part of our group got separated from Erica annd got lost. Our hearing devices did not function properly. Four people in our group of eight were separated and the guide did not wait or look for us. We had to ask another tour guide from a different tour to help us locate the exit. We did not see much of the tour and feel very disappointed. Our group certainly did not receive our money’s worth. Please consider a refund because we feel this experience was awful.

The tour itself was good, once it actually started. We roamed around for over a half hour just looking for the guide. We tried to contact them via email and phone with no luck. We were ready to give up when we finally found them. After waiting on the bus for another ten minutes, we finally left the port and proceeded to make another 2 stops picking up people at different locations. Neither the guide nor the driver talked to us at all during the 40 minute ride. We got to Pompeii and waited around again until a guide showed us around. The guide was very informative. Over, just a lot of wasted time for what we payed.

Dear Sir we don't know who you are so we cannot investigate if something was wrong the day of your tour anyway is normal to wait some minutes before the guide meet all the participants in the port and is also normal the second stop near the station to meet some others guests. We use to wait just a short time in every meeting point because if someone don't show up we leave with the ones we meet. Best regards

This tour is an absolute must. The opportunity to see such a well preserved historical sight stands alone. Our guide Grace was top notch. She was not just informative but also very engaging. She did very well in presenting an incredible amount of information in an easily understood, relatable, and digestible manner. She worked well to keep the whole group engaged and moving at an appropriate speed in the tour while being sensitive to the abilities of the group. She also embodied the reverence and respect appropriate to the lost citizens of Pompeii. The transportation provided was efficient and welcomed though a bit more specificity of the exact pick up point would be appropriate.

Tour guide was great but the rest of the experience was awful. Hotel ended up being in sorrento instead of Naples and they said $30 more for pick up. Ok, no problem, but when pick up was there they needed cash, which wasn’t mentioned. The driver, who was rude and obviously mad at us for not having cash, stopped at three different places to ensure he had the cash which all could have been done at the location we were dropped off at, which was active with people to get change when we were done with the atm. Sorrento was kind of shut down. It was embarrassing to say the least. The drive there he drove crazy, and made everyone sick, and I never get motion sickness. I’ll also add we were in the area for five days and had been driven all over the hills to demonstrate how terrible he navigated the area. We get there and see one body from Pompeii, so essentially the three hour documentary I watched 20 years ago was way more enlightening than physically being there. The full tour felt more interested in tourist trapping people than giving us the history enlightenment we all were there for. I have used viator for multiple tours and experience during my three weeks around Italy, so maybe this was good and the others were beyond amazing, or this sucked. I give the three stars for the guide herself because she was very informational, and easy to talk to.

The tour was organized, and the meet up was smooth. The only complaint is that tour guide was very hard to understand, and the headsets provided were very fuzzy. We enjoyed the tour, but we missed out on a lot of information.

Pompeii was amazing, we liked that we had headsets to hear the guide. She took us to amazing parts of the site. We wished we could have seen more. The transportation was chaotic. The bus we were on met up with other buses creating chaos to where we needed to go. On leaving the site we encountered a monsoon rain and the guide rushed down the hill so fast we could not keep up with the group and waited around in torrential rain looking for our bus or guides. Very unorganized.

Margherita was an excellent guide, and gave a very thorough tour, full of history and the lifestyles of the people of Pompeii! It was amazing to see the unearthed ruins, and how extensive they are…in 2 hours, we covered barely 20% of the city. Definitely a great shore excursion!

Our guide was such fun and knowledgeable. He waited for us to all catch up he allowed time for photos. He knew the places to take a good photo. We learnt so much from our guide. Pompeii is being restored beautifully to share the experience of what was and what happened there with the world. Wear comfortable walking shoes, have a hat, sunscreen, water and clothes suitable for hot days and be prepared for the crowds. Well worth taking the tour.

We have been using Viator services several times before in different countries, and all of them were solid, professional, five-star rating until this Naples trip. If there is zero rating, that will be our score because of chaotic transportation, zero professionalism by the tour leader, poor quality, a 3.5-4 hour trip, became more than five hours which directly affected our afternoon visit plan, time was wasted, we were shocked with the drastic decline of the quality of Viator' service. Just a few concrete examples based on our experience: poor quality. No more small group (our previous Victor trips were all transported by Mercedes Benz from a parking lot), this time we were all waiting on the street outside of the port gate, picked up by a big bus. No more professional tour guide. First of all, we were told we will be meeting a tour guide holding a Viator blue welcoming sign, this never happened, we were all standing outside the port gate wondering where is Visitor transportation. The tour leader was late, holding no sign, our scheduled departure time is 9:45am, at 10am she was still looking for people who haven't showed up. Then the driver was late. Chaotic organization: during our half a day tour, we were "handed" by at least 4-5 different people. This's not only confusing to the guests, but also extremely inefficient from a business standpoint. In our previous Viator tours, there is only local driver and a local guide, the guide would start sharing information about the city, history and the culture on our way to the tourist attraction. Not happening in this trip, the so called tour leader, didn't say a word about the local information on our way to Pompeii, on the way back, she was chatting with the driver entire trip. She's merely a coordinator of transportation The only person doing an OK job was the tour guide. Before booking with Viator, I noticed many negative reviews about Victor subcontracting out it's service and ending up with poor service quality, I ignored them because of our previous excellent experiences with Victor. After our terrible experience this time with Viator, we're very sad to see that Viator is no longer our trusted tourist company with style, professional tour guide and efficient/well organized operation. May be it's time for us to say good bye to Viator.

Very well organized tour. Met outside of our port at the reserved time and drove to Pompeii. Once we were there, we got given an ear piece so that we could listen to the guide. The tour was approx 2 hours and they showed us all of the main parts of Pompeii, explaining the history. Overall I really enjoyed this tour and I would recommend it!
