Full day Jeep tour with Sergio!!

We had the most incredible full-day tour with Sergio from Green Zone Tours, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our entire trip! Sergio was wonderful from start to finish — incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and so easygoing. He made everyone feel comfortable and completely at ease throughout the day. You could tell how much he genuinely loves the island and enjoys sharing it with visitors. We learned so much about the history, culture, landscape, and hidden gems of the Azores, and Sergio was able to answer every question we threw at him. His knowledge of the island was incredible! The Defender was beautiful 💚 Sergio took us to see some beautiful beaches and a few of his favourite local spots while we waited for the fog to burn off for the grand finale Lagoa do Fogo! And it was so worth the wait! When the fog finally cleared, the view from the top was absolutely STUNNING. 🌋😍 We also discovered Santa Bárbara Beach, which ended up being another favourite stop — and a place we probably never would have found without Sergio! What made the day so special was that it didn't feel like we were simply being taken from one tourist attraction to another. It felt like we were exploring the island with a local who genuinely wanted us to experience the best of São Miguel. I would highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip. Sergio is not only an amazing guide, but he can give you great ideas and recommendations for the rest of your stay. His local knowledge can point you in the right direction for beaches, places to visit, things to see, and experiences you might otherwise miss. What a fantastic day! Thank you, Sergio, for making our day so memorable. This was an educational and interesting experience. The staff were friendly and prepared us for what we would see and experience. Definitely felt some motion sickness so if you aren't prepared for that take something. Also don't expect huge whales, there are lots of different species!

If you can only pick one tour to do on your trip, this is it! The beauty of this island is off the charts, (ROM.1:20) and to see it on bikes is such a great way to experience it. Make sure to visit when the hydrangeas are in bloom. You don’t want to miss this.

Amazing adventure!

Arrived and put on wetsuits and boots. Then we hiked some to get to the different adventures. I would say it was a little more technical than I anticipated but it was so much fun! Felt very safe-had 5 children with us ages 11-6 and they did very well. Our tour guides were very friendly, very good with the kids, made us feel very safe. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun adventure!

Must do to see a lot of the one side of Sao Miguel

Had a wonderful day with Elton. The van is comfortable and has AC, Elton uses a microphone so everyone can hear what he has to say regardless of where you sit. The buffet lunch was a highlight, we thought it was a wonderful experience to have some local food. Had some spectacular view point stops, as well as a couple short hikes. The only thing I would have changed was wearing different shoes, I had ON cloud tennis shoes on but they did not offer traction during the hikes.

A great 3 hours visiting...

A great 3 hours visiting two caves, looking at the volcanic flow formed. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. You do need to be aware the ground is very uneven, the ceilings can be very low and there are steps! Having said that it was amazing to see the caverns and formations. Very beautiful 😍

Great way to see several views in the same excursion

My family (husband, 18 yr old son and 21 yr old daughter) all enjoyed ourselves. Instead of one 4-person UTV, we decided to get two 2-person UTVs so both my husband and I could have the opportunity to drive (and potentially the kids if they chose to, which they did not). We went on a mostly sunny day and the views were outstanding. This was our first trip to the Azores so we had no idea what was the best way to access views, and this experience allowed us to see several views we would have had to hike up to see, and gave us ideas about future excursions on our own. While we all enjoyed ourselves, this excursion may not be for everyone. The UTVs were very loud and I had to almost yell to talk to my daughter next to me, but they do provide headphones to help cut the noise of the engine down. We all drove in a line (2 person ATVs in the front, 2 person UTVs in the middle and then 4 person ATVs), so the route is very specific and there is no opportunity to deviate. We drove on paved major roads about half the time, paved back roads about 20% of the time and dirt roads about 30% of the time. I absolutely have no confidence to drive the rental car whenever we travel to Europe, but I enjoyed myself driving the UTV because for the most part we were in a line and I just followed the person in front of me. When we got to stop signs, my daughter looked right while i looked left if we were on a blind corner. My family plays a lot of Mario Kart and it felt a bit like I was driving one in real life. I am happy we chose the 2 person UTV over the 2 person ATV because we had some shade as opposed to full sun the whole time. Overall I recommend this excursion if you are new to the island and want to see 5 different views in a relatively short amount of time.

Great way to start our vacation

Raphael was a great tour guide - very friendly and informative. We learned some history about the area as well as the local food and drinks. He was also a good source of information about things to do on the rest of our trip. The pace of the tour was good. We were able to sample many types of food, including breakfast, tea, fruit, a delicious lunch, and dessert. I highly recommend! My family (husband, 18 yr old son, 21 yr old daughter) and I all enjoyed ourselves.

Book it!

A great way to see the island without having to rent a car (you would be fine driving around town, but getting to some of the highlight spots in Sete Cidades, for example, are easy to miss or require a half day hike). We had João and Eric for the two days and they were both very friendly and knowledgeable, taking us to many sightseeing/photo ops and local places over the two days. You do travel in a 8 or 10 passenger van though, which allows you to get to some of the harder to navigate spots, but I would recommend motion sickness meds (if you’re like me and haven’t sat in the back of a van in a while) and layers, as the weather changes rapidly. Can’t recommend this tour enough, though, and the lunch option is well worth it to get a real taste of the local cuisine.
