Me and my husband decided to do the half day tour, and we ended up enjoying it so much we stayed for the full day! The best way to see the craters and GORGEOUS views. Eduardo was the absolute BEST! 12/10. He told us so many stories and history of the island, and you can tell how passionate he is for his home! Eduardo was so kind, and it was like traveling around with a friend! The lunch was buffet style, and so yummy! Stunning sites, awesome experience, amazing guide. Can’t say enough great things. Would totally do this again!

The tour with Daniel was incredible. We went on our 2nd day after arriving and it was an amazing morning filled with unbelievable views and stories from our guide, Daniel. He filled us in on the history of each spot we stopped at and had so many fun facts along the way. We felt like it was the best way to start the trip, learning a lot and seeing some of the most incredible views on the island. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely amazing experience viewing Caldeira das Sete Cidades! Although there were dozens of people hiking, there’s no way you could take in all the sights in this area unless you’re doing it by vehicle. The Land Rover was very comfortable and felt safe for the 7 guests. Daniel, the tour guide was knowledgeable about the entire island and asked us what we wanted to see and customized a bit of the drive for us. This experience is well worth it!

Alphonso our guide was an excellent companion for our exploration of Sete Cidades, but also added valuable perspective of an Azorean living on the island. The tour itself hit every sight we wanted and then some, while also providing excellent company for the morning.

Good way to get around the west side of the island. Beautiful view points and had good amount of time taking photos at each point. Nuno was a good driver and didn’t rush us through the trip, which was much appreciated.

This off-roading jeep ride was so much fun! Due to weather, we did not get to see the classic views of the lakes from the top, however the driver and guide was very knowledgeable about local history and culture, and brought us to beautiful scenic spots despite the weather. Would highly recommend!

Wow, our guide knew everything. I think there was only one question that he said he didn’t know about. Super fun, lots of hilly off-road to get to places only hikers could usually get to. We were a bit alarmed at first because it was a Toyota 4 x 4, but we felt like ultimately that it ended up being way more comfortable than a jeep.

We had a great experience touring the Azores with Pedro. From the moment we met him, it was clear how much he loves his island and enjoys sharing it with others.
His knowledge went far beyond typical tour information. He taught us about the history, culture, local communities, food, and the many flowers and plants that make the Azores unique. Every stop included interesting stories and insights that helped us appreciate the island more deeply.
What stood out most was his dedication to making sure we had the best experience possible. If weather or visibility wasn't cooperating at one location, he would take us somewhere else so we could still enjoy beautiful views and make the most of our time.
The tour was excellent, and I especially enjoyed seeing Pedro’s genuine passion for his home. His enthusiasm made us appreciate the Azores even more. If you're visiting the islands and have the opportunity to tour with him, I highly recommend it.

We toured with one other couple in a AWD SUV with Ricardo, our tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and convivial. We went to Sete Cidades and it was beautiful. The Azores are much more lush than expected. The tour was relaxed and well done.

Private Jeep tour of western São Miguel with four other passengers. Pedro was our guide, driver, historian, and honestly the best part of the day.
He grew up in Ponta Delgada, knows the island the way only a local can, and spent the morning making sure we saw it the way it deserves to be seen. Stunning crater views at Sete Cidades, perfectly timed despite rapidly shifting weather. He adjusted the route in real time to maximize what we experienced, which made a real difference.
Plenty of time for photos at every stop. Personalized, unhurried, deeply knowledgeable. Worth every dollar over any group bus tour.

Marianno (may not be spelling his name correctly) was exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and friendly! He took us all around the island including to the very tippy top, and gave us all the most pivotal historical facts about the island. Were informed too that there are 2 cows and 7 chickens respectively to every person living on the island! We had a wonderful 3 1/2 hours with him and, at our request, he left us at the city center and directed us to the best fresh burger place, Suplexio, for lunch. Best burger I’ve ever had in my 64 young years!! Good local IPA beer too!

WOW!!! This trip was 11 out of 10!! You will not be disappointed if you book this trip. We are on a transatlantic cruise and decided to book this trip instead of a ship offered one. Ricardo met us right when we got off the ship and let us to his 4x4. He was very polite and welcoming and we felt right at ease immediately. Ricardo was extremely knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. His stories were fantastic and entertaining. He definitely made it so we want to come back and experience the Azores again!! This was an excellent tour. Our guide/driver was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable and he got us to some places most cars could not go. Every stop was phenomenal. This island reminded us so much of Hawaii. Incredible landscapes. We went in mid-April and the high was 63. We were fortunate with a partly sunny day, but it does get cold and windy in the higher elevations. Glad we had jackets. I would highly recommend this tour for fantastic views of Cete Cidades. Our driver knew so much of the history (real and folklore) and how plants and animals were introduced. We learned so much about Ponta Delgada, the Azores, the people and the landscapes that made this an amazing stop on the cruise we were on. Definitely worth every penny.

If your cruise ship drops you in Ponta Delgada for just a few hours, do yourself a favour and hop into a Jeep for the Off the Beaten Track Half-Day Sete Cidades Tour—because wow, what a ride!
First things first: the Jeep. Calling it “bumpy” feels like a polite understatement—it’s more like being gently (and sometimes not-so-gently) shaken like a cocktail. But somehow, that just adds to the fun. You’re laughing, bouncing, and gripping the seat while surrounded by views so stunning they almost feel unreal.
Speaking of views… the craters at Sete Cidades are absolutely breathtaking. Think dramatic cliffs, lush greenery, and lakes in surreal shades of blue and green.
And then there’s Eduardo—our guide, comedian, historian, and all-around legend. From the moment we met him, he made us feel completely at ease. He’s funny, friendly, and packed with fascinating facts about the Azores, all delivered with perfect timing and charm.
We climbed high into the mountains, soaked in jaw-dropping views, and learned more than we expected—all in just four or five hours. Honestly, it felt criminally short. I could’ve stayed for days exploring the island.
But if time is tight? Go. Bounce around, laugh a lot, and take in some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll ever see.
