Immerse yourself in some of São Miguel Island’s most dramatic scenery—and put your mettle to the test—with this half-day canyoning tour. Pick between morning and afternoon start times, meet your guide at the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park in the island’s Nordeste region, and take part in a safety and training session. Expect fun and facing new challeges. The hike up was UP but took several breaks before getting in the creek heading down.
The guides are really helpful to insure safety and good education for each repel, jump and how to walk in the creek with boulders. There is an area by the shop to change your swim suit to dry clothes. I came on a cruise ship to Ponta Delgada. I walked across the street to the Grand Hotel where I was picked up. All safe and not confusing. About a 45 min drive to the park. I am a active 76 yr old female. The hike and water activities were not to difficult but you need some sense to walk in, around and over rocks.
Please go and make a forever memory in the most beautiful and safe jungle I have enjoyed.

I joined the canyoning tour with Ipa and Warren back in August (yes, writing a bit late) — and honestly, what an unforgettable experience! The guides were super encouraging and fun — thanks to them I managed to jump from heights I never thought I could! The zip line was definitely my favorite part, pure joy and adrenaline!
Also loved that they captured everything with a GoPro — getting the photos by email afterward was such a great surprise and a perfect way to relive the memories. Huge thanks to both Ipa and Warren for making the adventure feel safe, exciting, and full of laughter.
Let’s just say this experience left me not only with great memories but also with a huge smile that lasted long after the tour!

My husband and I very much enjoyed this canyoning experience. We ended up being the only two to book that day so we were really able to take our time and enjoy our experience. Our guides were fantastic and took the time to teach us about the island and recommended an amazing lunch place. We felt safe and had so much fun.

A must experience! Wasn’t sure what to expect but you are essentially doing a small hike up the water falls and then jumping in the water falls, zip lining down them, etc. Our guides (Thomas and Alberto) made the experience unforgettable and have let us relive it all through fantastic GoPro footage!
Would do this activity again and again. A must book! Great for both reserved people and thrill seekers!

Amazing experience it’s fun and safe! A bit of a hike up and then you are going down waterfalls. It’s fun! A bonding experience for a family. Take a waterproof pouch for your phone. Lots of picture opportunities. The guide takes pictures too. Guides are friendly funny and knowledgeable.

Let me first say our guides were terrific. They had high energy and safety was a top priority. I would have given this a higher rating but the amount of tourist traffic at this site is a bit much. Not the fault of our guides but rather there are just too many groups going through this course at one time. The surroundings are stunning and wonderful to look at. But there should not be a lineup of people waiting to move on to the next obstacle. There are only a few of them so waiting is just frustrating. This was entertaining, but for the money spent- not sure I would do it again unless something had changed

First of all we thank you for you feedback. Our guides do the best they can do make the activity as fun as possible and the problem is really the amount of people /groups / companies /visitors that are at location in August. This year there are 4 more companies working and there are two streams close for safety meters, because goverment is harvesting the canyon area.
We hope you have a chance to try it again off high season or another year that things will be more controlled with more options and therefore less crowed.

We did this last year so leaving a late review- but this was really good fun! My partner and I did this with my 60 year old mum who had never done anything like this and was a little scared - the guides were amazing with her and had her jumping off rocks into water and repelling like a pro.
You need some level of fitness for the first part - a 10/15 min uphill hike in a full wetsuit that nearly finished us all off 🤣 but once you’re at the top and in the water, all was forgotten!
If you love water or want something a bit more active than other things on the island, this is perfect.

It is physical. You need to be capable of walking up some steep hills and in some spots climbing. Our guides were wonderful. Thomas and Alberto were considerate of the pace wanted to set and helped us along the whole way. They kept it light and fun.
I would highly recommend taking on the challenge. Even if you are a little unsure of the challenge. It is not overly difficult but you will feel satisfied when you complete it.

The highlight of our entire trip!
