This is an outstanding travelling tour that is a must to explore the Eastern part of Sao Miguel! We were a small group of eight travellers who bonded well through our excursion. Our guide was exceptional, Joaquin ( sorry about the spelling) expertly transported us to various regions of the island, provided solid information, was pleasant and very personable. The sights were amazing, the luncheon was delicious and very, very ample. If you would like to learn about this island, book this trip! It’s much more than a 5 Star Venture!
Very unique experience of volcanic landscape and scenery. Tea plantation and Fornas thermal spa was very unique. Only issue was that we did not had enough time to spend in the spa to swim. None of our group members went to the spa because of very short time., only approx. 1 hour. Need to increase spa time.
Hugo our guide really did he's best to show us allot of Sao Miguel Furnas. He was really nice and chatty and is really trying to make the best goliath for you that day.

Hugo was absolutely amazing! We could not have had a better guide. His love for the Island and knowledge really came through. We even got some extra surprises. He was kind and so genuine.
The tour was a perfect taste of the island. We got a good sense of what the island has to offer without being rushed. Food was amazing and the places we saw were incredible. This is my second time taking this tour and it is so worth it!
Our guide, Carlos, was enthusiastic throughout the day and very keen to share his knowledge of The Maldives. He made an interesting guide through the day. We saw many beautiful places, and a lot was packed into the day. The only downside I experienced was the lunch. There was not a fish option as suggested in the write-up of the experience, and they owners of the restaurant looked at me strangely when I said that I wanted a vegetarian meal! I ended up with a plate of vegetables which I suspect was taken straight from the Furnas meat stew. On the whole though, I would recommend this experience.
In general the tour was OK, the guide nice and spoke good English, however he was 30 min late. On the was back he omitted one of the foreseen stops what I realised only after we reached Ponta Delgada. I inquired about this with the organiser, no reaction at all.
Our tour guide José was awesome. He went out of his way to ensure an enjoyable day for all of us. He also diverted his course to bring us to the church where my great grandmother was baptized. That meant so much to all of us. My whole family had a great day.

The hotspring in Furnaz was nice but need more restroom or changing room. Being in the tour, we have to hurry up to change clothes.
This tour covers a lot of sites and interesting stops. We had a great time. Our tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable about the sites and the history of the country. It was so nice to have him driving around so we could enjoy seeing everything.
Guide was amazing looking to book a another trip this friday hopefully, the guide didnt rush anyone and allowed people to enjoy there time and was very informative
Terrific mix of activities from thermal baths, traditional cooking and eating, to beautiful sites. Our guide, Jose Miguel, is a walking encyclopedia with deep knowledge of Portugal and the Azores, specifically. He delights in teaching. He also knows how to navigate around the fog to optimize the experience. A wonderful tour. Highly recommend.
The weather is very unpredictable
It started out with dense fog then a steady rain then turned to bright blue skies then returned back into fog
Joseph, our guide, was brilliant and ensured we got to see and experience everything, including seeing our food being removed from the volcanic ‘ovens’. We had a lot of fun and Joseph gave us plenty of interesting facts about the different locations we visited. The day was relaxed and we had plenty of time to see all the sights. Really recommend this trip and company

8 people in van a.d the 2 people in the front got a private o.mentary while the rest of us could not hear, especially 3 in back seat.

You hired a service that was provided correctly, where the guide in question spoke about topics of interest regarding the island and the Azores in a very comprehensive way for the entire group. Given that we only work with small groups of up to 8 people, the main focus is on maximizing interaction between the guide and the clients, and we always make people feel comfortable asking any questions they want because that is our job. Our focus is for people to end the day with more knowledge of the island and the Azores than when they started the day.
When we provide the necessary information but people don't ask anything or show little interest, our job becomes complicated.
The guide who provided you with today's service has over 35 years of experience in the tourism industry on the island of São Miguel, so the quality of his service is not in question.
Regarding hearing in the vehicle, you use a hearing aid. I understand that you may not have heard some things, but we cannot be shouting all day long.

We had a group of eight friendly and fun people from diverse backgrounds. Our guide, Jose was very informative, told lots of stories, answered all our questions and managed to keep everything on track during a very full day.
It’s along day but you see some majestic views and the beauty of the Azores. The Furnas lunch is delicious but a lot of food. Our guide Andrew was fantastic.

Great way to spend a day with some interesting highlights. Tea plantation was a good location for a glimpse of the countryside and a chance to grab authentic souvenirs. Furnas was absolutely worth the visit and the traditional lunch delicious. My favourite part was the Botanical Gardens and thermal pools. Recommend this tour, our guide was great!

From the moment we were picked up at the port, everything was seamless and stress-free. Joaquin wasn’t just a driver, he was an incredible guide who brought the entire island to life. His knowledge of the Azores, especially the volcanic history of Furnas, was impressive, but what really stood out was how naturally he shared it. It never felt like a lecture, more like traveling with a very knowledgeable friend who genuinely loves where he lives.
The small group made a huge difference. We never felt rushed, and Joaquin tailored the experience so it felt personal rather than scripted. As we drove through the countryside, the views were already stunning, but his commentary added so much depth. Every stop had context, stories, and little details we would have completely missed on our own.
Furnas itself is something else entirely. Seeing the volcanic activity up close at the lake, learning about the traditional cooking methods, and then soaking in the thermal hot springs was just unreal. Sitting in those warm mineral waters surrounded by lush greenery felt like something out of another world.
Joaquin made sure we experienced the best of everything, from scenic viewpoints to hidden gems, all while keeping the day relaxed and enjoyable. The transportation was comfortable, the timing was perfect, and the entire experience felt incredibly well thought out.
This wasn’t just a tour, it was one of those travel days you end up talking about long after the trip is over.

This tour is the perfect way to see the eastern part of the island. Very relaxed and beautiful scenery. So nice to get out of the city. Our guide Joaquim was the best and made this experience even more wonderful. He was attentive to questions and conversation to everyone in our group. No rushing at all. Had a lot of inside info since this is his home! Every stop we made was beautiful and the stew was delicious!
Friendly driver but he needed to pay more attention to his driving, sometimes only one hand on the steering wheel, on a couple of occasions no hands on the steering wheel.
What a wonderful day with Jose. His expertise and easy personality made the tour so much more memorable. While it might seem like a long tour (advertised as 8 hours) it honestly flew by. Every stop was interesting. My entire family learned so much. The food was delicious. Learning about the volcanoes and the hot springs and getting to experience it all in comfort was a bonus. When you have teenagers who say “thanks for a great day” you know it was a win. Thank you again for a great time. This is truly worth every penny.
Did the Furnas Volcano & Tea Plantation East tour with Jose Melo as our tour guide. Very friendly, with a wealth of knowledge of the history of the island. He was very patient and accommodating. It was a rainy day but he made the trip very enjoyable. Food was excellent. Highly recommend this tour.
Great tour, so much packed into a single day including a lovely lunch but nothing rushed. Bruno was a terrific guide.
Canceled less than 24 hrs before start of tour - by email not even thru Viator. Hotel helped us to book locally or we would have wasted a whole day. Said I would get a credit card refund but still had to put out same amount in cash to pay for another tour.

The request was made through Viator! and not via email as you mentioned!
The status of your reservation is still pending for you to say whether you want to cancel or change the reservation to another date! At this precise moment, it is still pending! From the moment the reservation is in this state, we cannot do anything more on our end because the response and what you want to do is up to you. I'm sorry, but if you don't understand how the platform works, it's not our fault. Please cancel and receive your money back because we are an honest and responsible company and we don't want any money that isn't ours.
