Best tour ever!

This was one of the highlights of our trip. We visited small artisanal producers of Parmesan cheese and Prosciutto di Parma and loved getting to see the traditional process up close. It was fascinating to learn how much care and craftsmanship goes into making these incredible foods, and of course the tastings were amazing! Larish was a fabulous tour guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the region and its food. He made the experience fun and engaging the entire time and shared so many interesting details we never would have known otherwise. If you enjoy authentic local food experiences, this tour is a must. A Great Tour, A Guide

This was a fantastic experience. Our guide was excellent and was very thorough in guiding us through the intricacies of the Parmagiano cheese making process and also Prosciutto di Parma. You really begin to appreciate the skill and care that goes into these wonderful products. The Balsamic vinegar part of the tour provided tastings of the different types and ages. The nuances in the flavors were enhanced by a thorough explanation of each. Very worthwhile. I would recommend this tour to anyone that loves Italian food.

How it’s made

This is a long day and starts early. Observing the process for making Parmisino was very interesting. Our tour guide Sara stepped in to walk us through the factory b/c of an illness of the factory’s guide. Sara has a history with the process through her grandfather, so she knew exactly what went on throughout the process. We then went to see the process for making prosciutto. Also, very interesting. Both processes have a very strong odor associated with them. Lunch at the farm-to-table restaurant was a different experience for our group.

Best day trip of all!

This was by far our favorite day trip while visiting Italy. The cooking lesson was fantastic and Virginia and her mother made us feel so welcome. After preparing the pasta, our host served a wonderful meal, complete with caprese salad made with their homegrown tomatoes, dessert and wine. Absolutely the best!
