Julia was a lovely host / guide. Castle was a bit disappointing due to the fog but the desired portion of the tour was exceptional.

Worth the money and we were lucky to be the only family on the tour. Informative and knowledgeable tour guide. Tastings were delicious! Lots of time for pictures! Best tour for both Parmesan cheese and prosciutto production!

I booked this tour for myself, my husband and our four twenty something children. The meeting location was in a restaurant parking lot which was very confusing. We felt as if we were in the wrong spot as there were no signs and the guide was late to arrive. The processes and the factories were interesting and well run. I was fascinated to learn how the cheese production is related to the prosciutto production. Our guide was very informative and talkative. Perhaps a little too much informative and talkative. None of us were prepared for the odors involved in both processes. Two of the kids had to walk out and the rest of us suppress gagging. Not recommended for persons with queasy stomachs or sensitive noses.

Thank you for your nice review! Actually to see the "real thing" includes odors as well.. one of the most important of our senses.. It' s a very personal matter.. some people love the perfume of the cheese, some other the perfume of the hams aging.. you'll have to try first in order to discover it.. that's the beauty of discovery don't you agree?.. :) thanks again!

Your booking was undisputably for a tour in Italian, without a private driver. As you were initially not willing to drive your own car, this created logistical difficulties.
Despite having received and confirmed the final tour details in advance, you arrived at a different meeting point than the one agreed upon.
The phone number provided in your booking was not active on the day of the tour, which unfortunately made it impossible for us to reach you immediately and provide timely assistance.
Once we were finally able to get in touch, we did our best to assist you over the phone, but communication was challenging as you apparently could not express your situation in english and you were often hanging up.
Nevertheless, thanks to the professionalism and flexibility of our guide, we were able to reorganize the itinerary and ensure that you experienced the full tour as planned.

Wir hatten die food valley tour mit Käse- und Schinkenverkostung mit deutschsprachiger Begleitung gebucht und das hatte sich wirklich gelohnt. Die Besichtigung der Käserei war sehr interessant. Illaria konnte uns die Herstellung und Lagerung des Käses sehr gut erklären. Die Verkostung fiel etwas spärlich aus, jeweils 2 Stückchen Parmeggiano 12, 24 und 36 Monate alt und eine Flasche Wasser, aber mehr brauchte man auch nicht.
Auf der Fahrt zur Schinkenfabrik Conti machten wir einen kurzen Stop unterhalb der Burg Torrechiara. Danach fuhren wir zur Salumificio Conti. Am Sonntag arbeitete hier zwar niemand, das glich Illaria aber durch ihr Wissen über Schinken und dessen Herstellung aus. Die Verkostung war hier sehr gut. Es gab 3 Sorten Schinken verschiedener Qualität, etwas zu Knabbern, Wasser und Wein aus der Region.
Illaria nahm sich Zeit für uns und so dauerte die Tour etwas länger als geplant. Dafür nochmals herzlichen Dank an Illaria.
Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.
