This was one of the highlights of our trip. We visited small artisanal producers of Parmesan cheese and Prosciutto di Parma and loved getting to see the traditional process up close. It was fascinating to learn how much care and craftsmanship goes into making these incredible foods, and of course the tastings were amazing!
Larish was a fabulous tour guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the region and its food. He made the experience fun and engaging the entire time and shared so many interesting details we never would have known otherwise.
If you enjoy authentic local food experiences, this tour is a must. We loved every minute and would highly recommend it!

A lot of good information on the production. Some parts of it could been shorter but overall worth it.
Very good time. Small group made it seem more personal. Frank our guide took plenty of time explaining each step of both the cheese and prosciutto production

We booked this tour one month in advance. I got confirmation and all the usual follow up notifications. I even received my tickets. The day before at 5 pm I emailed the tour operator to ask them where to park. They quickly responded and gave me directions as well a a photo of the meeting spot. At 10 pm I received an email from Viator saying the tour was cancelled. I immediately called and was told it was in fact cancelled but could give me no reason. After an hour on the phone of trying to get another similar tour they were unable to book one for us because of the late hour. Needless to say I was more than upset. Then today, the day of the tour, I got an email from the operator saying that there was some mix up with their system and they never got our reservation. If they didn’t have our reservation why did they tell me the meeting spot and then how were they able to cancel it the night before? Then at 8:30 am I get an email from Viator saying today is the day for your tour. I reach back out to the tour operator again and ask them what’s going on. And all of a sudden they do have room on the tour but we will have to pay them directly because Viator has already refunded me the amount of the tour. I have no idea what really happened but I would not book with this tour operator again. Because of the late notice my husband and I ended up booking a cheese tour and a Parma tour each directly with the factories and did the tours on our own.

We were able to see the actual production process of Parmesan cheese at the manufacturing facility which was so interesting. The cheese we tasted were incredible. Then we also got to see the Parma Ham manufacturing facility as well and appreciated learning how to identify qualified Parma Ham. The ham we tasted was delicious and the experience was most memorable!

Loved the cheese making experience from start to finish, meeting the cows was a bonus too…. The girls were eating when we visited them in the barn.

Very smooth and enjoyable day. Pick up was easy and my tour guide was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The group size was small enough that we were able to ask questions and really learn about the processes. Obviously the taste testing was the best bit! I wish I had purchased some of the cheeses afterwards!

We waited at meet up point for 40 mins and called Viator and then your operator to learn they cancelled our tour that morning with no notification and no alternative
Knowledgeable and personable guides/drivers. Very well organized. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area. The Trentalia train system offers early trains to Parma, so you can make the morning tour even if not staying in Parma. The tour operator offers a meeting point 50 yards from the Parma Train Station.

The tour was very enjoyable and informative. Our guide, Loris was very personable and explained every step in the producion of Parmiagiano-Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma. We got to sample the chees aged for different times and had a wonderful lunch of prosciutto paired with wines. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone.

A fantastic tour full of learning, beautiful scenery, and food! The bus picks can pick you up at various locations throughout Parma. It takes you to the various locations in the Parma area, I was able to also go to a Balsamic Vinegar tour as well due to someone needing to change their arrangements. The tour takes a good portion of the day, as the various sites can be quite far from one another.
The Parmigiano-Reggiano tour included seeing them start some fresh Parmesan Cheese, and you got to taste it in its first state, then you got to see the various phases of development, culminating in the aging room, where you get to try some Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese at a few different aging timeframes. This helps you to understand and appreciate the differences that aging introduces.
The Prosciutto di Parma tour takes you to the hills just outside of Parma, where you go to a cute factory and get the see the Prosciutto in the various stages of production. You end in the restaurant where they have some Prosciutto di Parma, Wine and Water waiting for you.
Finally, I was able to add on a Balsamic Vinegar tour where you got to see the Balsamic barrels and they explained the aging processes and the differences between the stringing DOP Balsamic and the less stringent IGP Balsamic. Finally, it ended in a tasting where you got to try various IGP Balsamic’s, their DOP Balsamic, and various other products that they offer.
All tours ended in a shop, allowing you the opportunity to buy some cheese, ham, balsamic and other apparel straight from the source!
Overall, it was a really fun day, where I got to learn a lot about some of my favorite products and how they are produced and of course got to try them right where they are made! Well worth the time and money!

Loris was an amazing tour guy! Truly one of the best tours I had during my stay. He was very passionate about the entire process of both parmigiano reggiano as well as the Parma ham. The wine and cheese tasting was amazing! As well as the Parma ham tasting, they gave you endless amounts of cheese and even allowed you to have a big plate of Parma ham.

We loved this tour. Sergio did a fabulous job driving us to both the cheese and ham factories and explaining the processes at both. He shared wonderful stories and was responsive to all our needs and questions.
However, the Viator tour operator sent us to the wrong pick-up point across town and we were left stranded there for almost half an hour until Sergio reached out to us and came to pick us up. This delayed the tour for the entire group, was aggravating for all and we arrived late to first stop (the cheese factory), where we missed the initial introduction to that part of the tour.
Further, we had to walk 20 minutes to the (wrong) pick up point, which was not the one we had requested when we booked the tour, while the actual pick up point was in front of our hotel! Luckily, Sergio was quite accommodating and gracious about this entire mishap. Viator should get it’s act together to better coordinate dissemination of such important information.

Great tour of both Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma.
The visits were very interesting and succeeded in detailing every single step of the production process. The tastings were also abundant (we skipped lunch).
We also appreciated the hotel pickup.
Tasting both the fresh and the aged cheese was remarkable! Loved it! The guide and the hosts were excellent!
Matias was a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Tastings were amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour.
We did the Parmesan and Pratima Ham tour with Mathia and it was beyond perfect - both tours were very informative and Mathia was full of knowledge and so much fun. We were lucky to watch the master do the salting of the ham. Both tours were followed by ham and cheese tastings and they were wonderful!
Watching the cheese making process was very informative and interesting. Pickup was on time in the designated location. Hosts were knowledgeable and very friendly.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime sort of tour: anyone who's been eating parmigiano reggiano and prosciutto di parma their whole life should get to take this trip and learn the process. It was all fascinating, and tasting the incredibly fresh ingredients was heavenly. We were fortunate to be able to add on the balsamic vinegar tour in Modena for an extra 20 euros per person, and I highly recommend doing that as well. I'll never forget the amazing smells in that vinegar attic!
Being able watch to the process of Parmesan Reggio formation from beginning to end. Seeing the cows food growing in the field, cows in the barn and then over to the cheese making area. Full picture.
