Leisurely day of wine tasting and seeing the island, with a great guide. We learned the difference between Madeira Wine and Madeiran Wine, and walked along stunning vineyards and saw beautiful views of the island. Lunch was delicious, and the opportunity to try Madeira Wines made by two different methods was really interesting. One of the highlights of our holiday. Being in a small group was really great, we had plenty of opportunities for questions and we didn’t feel rushed at any point during the day.

Monica was our guide. The day was fabulous from pick up to drop off. Everything was smoothly coordinated. In addition to the tastings, winery tours and lunch, we enjoyed riding along the backroads of Madeira. We saw beautiful coastline on the north-east side of the island and learned many facts about the island. It was a wonderful day!

Mónica was our guide and she made it special. Her knowledge, friendliness and passion for sharing what she loves about the island made it so memorable.
The tours and wines were great, but you can try them by just showing up. Having a local guide brings the experience to the next level. Well worth it.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine tour. We were in a small group of 8 people, and we soon got chatting on the bus. Our guide, Roberto, was excellent. He was full of stories and anecdotes, and always keen to ensure we were having the best time. We visited three wineries, and tasted a whole variety of local wines. The lunch included in the trip was excellent, set against the spectacular backdrop of the north Madeira mountains. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in wine and local history, or someone who enjoys travelling through dramatic landscapes with a small group of likeminded individuals.

Excellent day out Our guide Roberto was both informative and entertaining and certainly gelled the group. I learnt a lot about the development and growth of madeira wines and the culture of the island as a whole.

Sofia was an excellent guide, full of information & great anecdotes. The places we visited were top class, informative & interesting. The views were awesome & the lunch - wow! Steak cooked to perfection and plentiful wine. I can not recommend this tour enough 🤩

Fantastic tour. As well as the great wine experience we learnt so much about the history of the island through a most experienced, Isabel. We had so much fun with an awesome group. Gina at the grape plantation was also very informative and lovely personality and.Antonio’s lunch was very delicious. Wines were delicious.

We had the most wonderful time with Sophia! Definitely a highlight of our stay on Madeira. All of the locations had a wonderful balance of history, education and of course, wine. Beautiful views, amazing food and great conversation. Sophia provides a wonderful and in-depth knowledge of the island with fascinating stories. We could not recommend her or this experience more. We did this tour for my partner’s birthday, and we both had a memorable day. This tour would be worth it simply for Sofia’s knowledge and storytelling, but the views, wine and food make it an unforgettable experience. The second spot we visited (Quinta Do Barbusano) is the real highlight, with some of the best vistas we’ve ever seen and some of the best beef we’ve ever eaten. This tour is an amazing way to see the most beautiful parts of Madeira while drinking fantastic wine and hearing some of the island’s most fascinating stories.

Great guide full of stories of the island, tasted various table and fortified Madeira wines, definitely got our monies worth! (hiccup!). Had the biggest and tastiest beef skewers i've ever seen. Got to see a large part of the island. All in all, a fantastic trip and would definitely recommend.

This tour was fantastic. We learned about the wine process here in Madeira and had an awesome guide, Roberto. If you get the chance to take the tour with Roberto, we would highly recommend. He is very personable and funny. He seems to really enjoy showing us around and gives great information along the way. The second winery we visited was one of the most beautiful views we have seen ever. The winery is carved into the side of a mountain with sweeping views of vineyards and the ocean in the distance. Others in the group had just come from Tuscany and mentioned that Tuscany didn’t even come close to the beauty of this location. The traditional Madeira lunch was also great. Overall, this was a perfect day to enjoy beautiful views and great wines. It was particularly nice to taste several Madeira wines and Madeira table wines. We highly recommend.

A wonderful day of storytelling, new friends and fabulous vineyards. Sophia and her able assistant Sheila provided an experience to remember. We explored stunning scenery set well off the beaten track and learned about and tasted fantastic table and fortified wines. Lunch at the brilliant vineyard near Sao Vicente was memorable as was tasting really old Madeira wine which would cost a fortune for a bottle. Don’t be put off by the price of this day out. It is a personal, brilliantly paced and exceptional value for money experience. Thanks to Sophia for telling the tales and a big hello to the Canadian and Swiss pals in whose company we enjoyed the day!

Wow. What a wonderful experience.
Loved the individual attention to detail, and the individual narratives about Madeira wine and local wine production.
The lunch was excellent and helped soak up some of the wine tastings before we began tasting again in our next venue.

We did three trips whilst in Madeira and this was the best one.
It is a full day, visiting two places for Madeira wine, two places for table wine & a very generous lunch at one of the vineyards.
This is more expensive compared to other wine-tasting trips but you get your money’s worth.
Sofia is the party lead and is a local to the island and gives useful stories and context about all the areas we visited. She is passionate about what she does and this really comes across in the tour. She is friendly and made an effort with everyone (11 in our group in total).
In total we tasted 4 Madeira wines & 8 table wines. The wine and meat at lunch was endless. Really felt like we were well looked after.

Sophia did an excellent job of taking us to a variety of Madeira Island wineries. Won’t the way she shared with us information about the countryside. We happened to be touring with an all American group. We were all instantly friends! What a great experience!!!

With every trip my cousin and I go on, we aim to book one sort of hiking tour and one wine tour - and the Madeira Wine Tour did not disappoint. It was not your typical vineyard tour so I wouldn't compare it to experiences in say Napa or Sonoma, but it was extremely beautiful, fun, and a unique experience to Madeira that I would highly recommend. The full day tour takes you to multiple areas of the island, with short breaks to experience a levada walk, check out the scenery from up high on a mountain along the drive, and a delicious home cooked lunch traditional Madeiran stew at a family friend's home in one of the valleyswith of course, wine. Our guide, Sophia, is from the island and was extremely knowledgable so we definitely learned a ton throughout the day. And in true Madeiran style, she was beyond friendly from the moment she greeted us at our hotel to the moment we hugged her goodbye at the end of the tour! My one tip would be to bring a bottle of water as it isn't provided through the tour so good to have handy! But everything else you are set on with food, transportation, etc. I would definitely do this tour again and recommend it if you'd like to really experience Madeira outside of the main area of Funchal. Great day spent while we were there!!
