Itinerary
Kick off with morning pickup from your Athens hotel (private tour option) or from the meeting point near the Acropolis metro station (small-group tour option) and head directly to the Acropolis. Enter with skip-the-line tickets and enjoy free time inside to take in the Parthenon and other highlights.
Next, move on to the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Panathenaic Stadium before the scenic drive to the top of Mount Lycabettus to take in the view. After a stop to admire the ancient Agora, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and Academy of Athens, take a break for an included lunch.
Your day ends with a choice of visiting the Acropolis Museum or Natural Archaeological Museum (tickets own expense) or enjoying free time to shop and sightsee in the historic Plaka neighborhood before drop-off at your morning meeting point.

Lovely day seeing the highlights of Athens. Highly recommended. Lots of ancient and modern history to enjoy.
Manolis was amazing. He provided a fabulous private overview of Athens where we can ill set our own pace without feeling rushed. He was very informative and answered many questions. The included local was delicious!
Just know you don’t have a guide at the Acropolis. I would have liked that. It felt more like an expensive hop on hop off activity. Driver was knowledgeable and we enjoyed listening to him but overall it was not worth the money.

We had a wonderful day!! Tolis was our driver. He was waiting for us at the port which we pre-arranged. We had a group of 8. The transportation was so comfortable. Tolis was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, answering our questions. He was gentle to ensure our safety and flexible when we chose to not do the museum at the end of our tour offering to take us to the market instead. Thank you Tolis! Everything. Niko was a fabulous driver and tour guide. My wife and I had a wonderful time. We didn't feel rushed and Niko was a pleasant gentleman. We really lucked out, because I think we got Viator’s best Athens tour guide! Terry is friendly, professional, flexible, and he speaks perfect English. His knowledge of Greek, European, and even American history is nothing short of amazing, and he knows the streets of Athens like the back of his hand! I generally don’t care for tours, but Terry treated us to the perfect day. When you make your reservation, I’d strongly recommend that you ask for Terry to be your driver!
Tip: Go to the Acropolis as early as possible, like 9am. The crowds are crazy by late morning! If you have mobility issues, bring a doctor’s note so you can use the elevator.

Alexander was a very knowledgeable driver and took me to the most important sites all through Athens – I even got to enjoy the changing of the guard! If I had understood this package better, I would've added an extra Guide to tour the major sites with me. Alexander gave me a lot of information before he dropped me off at each location, but I would have loved to have been guided in the actual destinations so for anyone booking this tour I would add that extra expense of a driver AND a guide. But Alexander did not disappoint and was very kind, accommodating, personable, and pleasant to spend the day with!

This was a great tour of Athens in a new clean Mercedes van by Panos, our driver and Panos our tour guide.

Our tour guide Dimi was top notch and was extremely knowledgeable. Was thoughtful to have bags for our shoes to enter the mosque. The restaurant the he recommend for us to take a lunch break with relaxing the had extremely good food. He was always super punctual and gave clear instructions and gave us a way to contact him if we needed assistance and answered promptly

This was our absolute best tour we had in Greece. Our guide was amazing, so knowledgeable while making it interesting for the kids. He know all the hidden spots, and made the entire day stress free. Lunch was amazing as well. Beautiful comfortable van with plenty of room for all of us too. If we ever travel the Athens again, we will do the same tour, it was that great!

Definitely make sure that you have a tour guide. We booked a private guided all day tour of Athens. By chance we found out from Olive Sea (the tour that Viator used) that that simply meant a knowledgeable driver. For extra money we could, in addition, have a guide to accompany us into several places that a driver was not allowed to go in . Well worth the money. Not only did we have a wonderful driver (Stephanos - sp?) but a unbelievably knowledgable personal guide (Avi - sp?) that brought the places we saw to life. Additionally, as we are up there in age, our guide helps us maneuver places like the Acropolis the would have been difficult to do on our own. Wonderful experience! Thank you so much Stephanos

Nickolas was on time and a wonderful guide/driver to show us the best of Athens. We had done the Hop On/Off the day before, but this gave us a level of information that was missing from the bus. Nickolas gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace the Acropolis and Agra. We have been traveling a month and more ruins was not on our agenda, so we called an audible and asked to substitute the museums for the Metropolis Church. Then as an added bonus he took us for the changing of the guard at the Presidential Palace and city park across the street. The lunch included was good and served in a neighborhood cafe so we could be with the people of Athens, and not tourists. Highly recommend this tour and guide.

Great day in Athens with Dimi! We were picked up from our hotel on time and had a beautiful journey in Athens, discussing Persian wars, the battle of Mararhon, while visiting the Temple of Athena, Nike, and Caryatids at Akropolis, where mystical stories about the contest between Athena and Poseidon to be the patrons of the city come alive, seeing well preserved Temple of Hephaestus, with its story about the love triangle of Aphrodite, Hephaestus and Ares, Temple of Zeus, the Hadrien Arch, ancient Agora, Panathenaic Stadium, Archeological museum, and mount Lycabettus with the view of Athens. My wife and I took the Athens Full Day Private Tour with Olive Sea Travel on September 16. I booked the tour months ago because my wife walks with a cane and an ankle brace and I had many questions. I had many email conversations with Gianna at the company. She was always prompt with her responses and provided the exact information I wanted. Our “driver” on this tour was Yiannis and he was so much more than a driver. He was aware of my wife’s minor disability and dropped us off as close to each stop as was possible with a car. His commentary about the city as we were driving was wonderful. At each stop, before we proceeded, he would explain what we were about to see and the history behind it. The lunch was delicious and it was truly a full day tour. It is well worth the cost, and we would highly recommend you request Yiannis as your driver.
We also booked a transfer from our hotel to the cruise port the next morning. We were surprised when Yiannis showed and we had another enjoyable half hour with him as he explained the history of Athens seaport.

Covers all the major sites. Our driver was great. We had the company hire a personal tour guide for the day and that made the experience even better. The driver would drop us off and then our guide would take us around. Then, the driver was waiting for us. Made the day very enjoyable.

What really stood out was his ability to bring the history of Athens to life. Rather than simply pointing out landmarks, he helped us understand the people, events, and culture behind them.
