Athens Highlights City Tour from Piraeus Cruise Port

Stamatia was waiting for us when we got off the ship with a driver and mini-van. She welcomed us and then we started the tour with Stamatia giving us history as we went along. We went to a lovely viewing area first for a photo and then moved on to the Olympic Stadium. We then walked (our choice) through to the presidents residence in time to see the changing of the guard. This was far better than the one outside of the parliament as it was in the shade with hardly any spectators so great pictures! Back in to the minivan, we stopped at the gardens and walked through to the parliament building in time for another changing of the guard but crowded and hot so didn't stop at this one. We then stopped at the National Library, University of Athens and Academy of Athens. Beautiful buildings and impressive architecture. All the while Stamatia stayed with us, offered us rest breaks and gave us history lessons! We then drove to the Acropolis and surrounding area. We choose not to buy tickets for the Acropolis and climb up. We got some lovely pictures and then stood on the rock at Mars Hill for fab views over Athens. We then drove to the Plaka area and had some free time. This tour was exactly what wanted having never visited before - a bit of everything, all the main sites and an informative friendly guide. We would have no hesitation in recommending this tour and especially Stamatia when in Athens. Thank you so much.
