We booked through Viator for a Gondala trip under the bridge of sighs, the ride took us out into the harbor, under 3-4 small bridges, they turned around and came back to where we started. It was a total waste of money. We went nowhere near the bridge of sighs. We went back to the office where we were told to meet up to ask why and they said to contact Viator, it was the guide who was wrong. Our booking clearly said Gondala ride under the bridge of sighs. Very unhelpful. You do not need to prebook a ride there are lots of Gondalas available.

It’s a scam you will never make it to the gondola ride because the booth to get the ticket has permanently closed, there is no other way to get on the gondola without a voucher. We asked several people, after multiple attempts of finding an alternate option was told there was nothing we could do. It was cancelled and when we called for assistance to viator we were basically told “Oh Well” by a very rude customer service representative. So long story short we never made it on the boat. The one thing I was looking most forward to when visiting Venice. No refund was issued, we have pictures of the closed booth. It was extremely frustrating and I would never recommend this service to anyone .

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and that you were unable to join the gondola ride you were looking forward to. However, we would like to clarify a few important points to avoid misunderstandings.
Our service is absolutely not a scam. At the designated meeting point in Campo San Zaccaria, our staff is always present to assist and check in guests. There is a shop located right in the square where the check-in must be completed before the tour. This is clearly stated in the booking instructions.
It is essential that guests do not go directly to the gondola station with their voucher. The gondoliers cannot accept individual vouchers for group tours, only our staff accompanies the group to the boarding point. Unfortunately, if you bypass the check-in process, the gondoliers will not be able to let you board.
Had you contacted us before the scheduled departure time, we would have been more than happy to help you locate our staff and ensure you didn’t miss the experience.
We always do our best to assist on the day of the tour whenever we receive timely communication.

Just a ride, it felt like being in a city traffic jam. 3 gondolas setting off together down a crowded river street. They were yelling and chatting with each other in Italian, but very little guest interaction. Would have at least liked for them to explain where we were boating through. A pamphlet or something.

SUPER disappointed in this activity - so I'll start off with the fact that it is a little scarier than it seems, you actually load onto the gondola in the lagoon, think ferries, boats, gondolas everywhere and WAVES! eek! so it was me, my friend and my mom - she is 75 but healthy. Getting into the boat was a DROP, no step down, didn't help her and she slammed down and hurt her back - in the meantime she has to sit immediately as the boat will tip. Scary experience and the gondolier was NO help. No idea of his name as i don't think he spoke a lick of English. then we are on, had 2 others on with us so 5 people total, we're spooked after getting in and feeling like we will tip any second; a freaking ferry pulls out in front of us from the water taxi stand and causes waves - well, we learned how to say stupid and a$$hole in Italian from our driver, that's about all we got out of him the entire time. that ferry should NOT have taken off with all the gondolas leaving! wow!! Anyway, once we got into the canal, the gondolier zipped us thorough, passing other boats, etc - never spoke or anything; looped us through and then we were done, it's quick as expected, 30 mins or less. Glad we didnt' pay for a singing guy, although maybe we should have to have had a better experience!? Getting out was better, you are in the canal and there are steps - ummmm, hello, load people here!!! Oh and we were doing the one under the bridge of sighs, if i hadn't taken a tour the night before, i would not have even known what it was since he didn't speak at all - what a bust of a tour!

This was a waste of time and money. 1 of is could not get on the gondola, the other 2 of us 1 has bruised arm from them helping her on . The driver never said one word to us, we had no idea what we were doing or where we going. The operator who we checked in with was rude, more worries anout his card game, and talking with friends. Acted like we were bothering him when we asked anything. This out of the several Tours we have taken is the first I wish we could have a refund

The meeting point was easy to locate. The person who checked us in escorted us to the gondola. He was professional and pleasant. The man who commanded our gondola was extremely rude and unpleasant. He only spoke to us in an angry manner when a guest moved.

After arriving at the waiting area, we waited a few minutes for the tour guide to go to the gondola ride designated area. Everything was very organized! Once in the gondola, my friend and I who came to Venice for vacation both said that it was very peaceful and relaxing for the both of us. Riding in the gondola, it was beautiful seeing the city’s architecture and taking in the beauty all around me.

The ride was smooth and the Gondolier was very experienced and it was obvious with how he handled the gondola around corners and when coming up on others.
There was no history/discussion/singing like seen in the past. Like almost everywhere nowadays, a lot of the Gondoliers are on their smart phones. A history briefing would have been helpful to complete the experience. The mass amount of people trying to take a Gondola ride made this feel rushed and disconnected from the tour highlights. Thankfully, it wasn’t the summer. All in all, it checks a box. Knowing the history of the Bridge of Sighs prior to this would be helpful to your experience.

We arrived at 10:45 a.m. for gondola experience. Were told to come back at 3 p.m. because gondolas could not travel with water so high. At 3 p.m., we waitied about 20 minutes, then walked with guide to gondola dock. They cancelled the trip at that point due to clouds and fear of rain. I am requesting a refund for this trip. It did not happen. The people were nice...but we did not have the experience.

The gondola ride was amazing. I really enjoyed seeing part of the city from the water.
The gondalier did not say much and didn’t tell us when to turn the app on to listen to the narrative. The narrative in the app stops working when you swap to camera, so it didn’t really work!
We went to find the meeting point the evening before and we could not find it as it had a shutter over the shop front with an ATM sticking through it, so we went back early the next day and it was then obvious. The people running it said they would put a canopy up to stop this happening in future.
The guys running the tour shop were great and the actual gondola ride was great. We enjoyed it so much that we booked another ride, but on our own and for an hour.

Getting on a gondola in Venice is a unique and unique experience. The city is beautiful and on this trip we could observe it from another perspective. We also recognize the expertise required to handle a gondola. What we didn't like is that we didn't have an explanation from the gondolier. We felt that he did the activity in a hurry, without talking about the city, although we tried to ask him a couple of times. He even put her on the phone while we were on the tour. This tour would rise incredibly with an accompaniment of the gondolier.
