What a wonderful way to get where you need to go in beautiful Venice. We had a little trouble finding the meeting point at first, but aside from that everything was excellent. Our driver was fun, kind, and very helpful throughout the trip. We would definitely book again the next time we’re in Venice..

The whole experience was amazing. The only thing I would recommend to the vendor is giving better instructions for how to get to the desk once you get off the plane.

We used this boat transfer service and had such a great experience that when we had to return to the airport to retrieve missing luggage, we knew it would be worth the money to book it again.
It's a shared private transfer but when others get dropped off before you, it's basically a private transfer. We had sunset views both times and it was honestly one of our favorite parts of our travels to Venice.
My husband and I both mentioned that we would recommend this to anyone traveling to Venice.

Felt some confusion as to what the name of our company was...and couldn't find someone to help...once we did, and boarded, it was a great experience on the boat ride in...beautiful 😍
Elizabeth_J, Sep 2026
A long wait from deplaning to finding the place to board the water taxi, then more wait to actually board the water taxi.
Ebony_A, Sep 2026
Definitely book this transfer beforehand - booking water taxis same day is costly! The driver was amazing, helpful and friendly. I as a first time Venice visitor so navigating to the water transport area took a bit but just get there, ask the staff questions if you’re lost, and the experience will be seamless :)

The email instructions left out where to meet at the airport. Walked all the way down to the pier then back up to the terminal 20 minutes each way. Then waited another 30 minutes for the taxi. Lost over an hour!
john_g, Sep 2026
Communication very poor, had no idea tickets were not at the boat launch so had to walk back to the terminal then had to wait over 45 minutes
Also had to organize the group from the terminal to the dock who I don’t know. Friendliness was non existent and appeared no one gave a crap.
Trip in was not great, hot, cramped and luggage was hanging on the front of the boat
Worst Viator I have done and a total rip off on the price
David_S, Sep 2026
We had to wait over 35 minutes before everyone was collected for the water taxi. Also, we had 14 people and their luggage in the taxi so it was a bit of a tight ride! I believe one couple was told there would be a max of 6 passengers. It took us over an hour to get to our hotel after having to wait for at least 35 minutes before a boat was assigned.
Elisabetta_F, Sep 2026
Very Good efficient service. Did not need to wait long for water taxi once I found out I had to wait at the Bucintoro desk rather than at the dock.
It would be helpful to direct passengers to report to desk 71 located on the left just before the bridge to the dock. I wasn’t the only one on our shared taxi who walked straight to the dock and back again.

It was chaos at the booking terminal and we had to wait for an hour.We had a very poor experience. The driver was rude, he threw our cases onto the boat. He did not speak to us once as he had headphones on and was talking into his phone there were .too many people and we were crammed into the boat. There was no opportunity to even look out of the window and see anything which is the experience we were expecting. I also felt it was unsafe as it had lots of heavy luggage that was toppling over. We paid £35 pp for this experience it was not worth it. Don’t waste your money the company don’t want to know once they have your money. Customer service is zero

you get to their booth at the airport and wait for 30 minutes, after that they send you to the gate and there the other person tell you that there is 10 rides before yours and wait to 3 to 4 hours, do NOT take this service, a trashy company
Robert_C, Sep 2026
Too many people on boat resulted in a not pleasurable experience, lugguage stacked 4 high and tossed around like they do in airports, driver was talking on phone when dropped off so did not know who he was talking to. When dropped off at hotel, the boat was not secured to boat dock and boat kept moving around while trying to reclaim luggage with a gap of 1 foot between boat and dock. Driver could be more professional in executing his duties.
Ruby_H, Sep 2026
You still have to find the registration desk at the airport before going to the dock or they send you ALL the way back to the airport desk that’s not easy to find. They need airport signage and to tell you this on your reservation. After traveling from the US to Venice it made for an unnecessary delay and stress.

This transfer was mostly seamless. Desk 71 was easy to find. Once we checked in, we waited about 25 minutes for our group to be called. The walk to the docks was clear and our dock number was easy to find. The only issue is that we had 15 people in our group. They load you into the boat according to your stops so we were the 2nd couple to board. Although the booking clearly said that each traveler was allowed 1 checked bag and 1 carry on bag, the boat driver scolded us when we boarded that we were only allowed 1 bag each. He waived his arms around as he was loading other passengers and their bags as if he didn’t know where he was going to put all the bags. After 11 people and their bags were aboard there was no more room for bags and they were stacked very tall. There were 4 more people and their bags standing on the docks. They had to be left behind for another boat. The 11 people that were already aboard was about max COMFORTABLE capacity in my opinion. Had there BEEN room for the other 4 passenger’s luggage, he would have smashed an additional 4 people into the taxi that was already full. (And very hot already) The journey into Venice was beautiful and our drop off point wasn’t far from our hotel.
Doug_J, Sep 2026
We waited for about 15 minutes after getting our ticket to go to the dock where our boat was. The driver was clearly irritated because most of the people had more bags than what is allowed, but he still loaded them first. We were then not allowed to get on because the boat was overloaded with luggage and were told we would be on the next boat. We had the correct amount of luggage, but because of the other people who had too much we had to wait. Next boat came and we started to get on but then were told we were to wait for the next one because there was now a group of other people that were going to our same stop. Boats came and went and we kept being told ours would arrive in "10 min". From the time we checked in until we actually got on the boat we had waited over an hour and a half. When I tried to talk to the dock coordinator for the company about the situation, because we were concerned about missing a pre-booked tour, his only reply was that I could get a refund and not take the water taxi which wasn't helpful at all. At that point our taxi finally arrived so we took it. Once we made it on a boat, the ride was fine and the driver was courteous. We have no complaints about the boat ride itself.
This was a very stressful experience! The rest of our day was completely thrown off because of having to wait so long, especially after an overnight flight, which was very disappointing since we only had one day in Venice. If a luggage amount is stated and people are over the limit they should not be allowed to board over the people who are within the limits! We would have been better off using the Alilaguna!
Also, when booking the taxi, I put our hotel name as our drop off because our hotel had a private dock. All of my confirmation information sent had our hotel as our drop off point so we thought that was where we would be dropped off. It wasn't. The walk from the dock to our hotel was fine, but it added even more time to the afternoon that we weren't counting on. If we had known we weren't being dropped off at the hotel, we would have booked with a different company.
Brenda_B, Sep 2026
When booking this we were asked for our hotel as a ‘drop off point’ which our hotel does have a canal access. Obviously we expected then to be dropped off at the hotel! Upon arriving at the airport we were informed that we get dropped off at the nearest drop off point which was San Marco. On top of which the lady at the desk at the airport was rather abrupt and rude, which certainly did not help with our disappointment. This could have been handle better and the situation made more clear on the website!
I have used Viator for years without issue. I requested a partial refund of 30% but this was refused.
On the boat we were literally packed in like sardines too.
We have been to Venice and used a similar service before, but this was not good.
Susanne_G, Sep 2026
It was a terrible experience. Very disorganized and we had no idea where to go. Once we asked many people, it took another hour until they left. I would never book a water taxis again through Viator. We met others that said the exact same thing.
Cristina_H, Sep 2026
Our experience with Viator was extremely disappointing. We booked a Private Water Taxi Transfer for September 4th, but upon arrival we were told we had to wait for “other passengers”, which is not a private service. The staff claimed this was in the “small print”, which is false. We were also told no private taxis were available due to the Venice Film Festival, yet at the pier we found around 12 private taxis ready to operate. We ended up paying €160 extra for a service we had already booked and paid for.To make things worse, Viator changed the time of our next booking without our consent, and they have not responded to our formal complaint.Unprofessional, misleading, and unreliable.
Better to book a water taxi directly at the pier.
Rashid_S, Sep 2026
They would not accept Viator voucher at the dock. Had to walk 10 minutes back to the airport to convert voucher into tickets. Then we had to weight 2 hours for the boat. We were repetitively told the boat is coming soon. When we finally got on the boat, it made multiple other stops before finally dropping us. Would never do this again. Do not recommend.
Byron_B, Sep 2026
Excellent! Enjoyed the boat ride. 14 adult's all sizes fit comfortably. Luggage is stored upfront Just be prepared to maybe have to wait 45 min for a boat to arrive even with a reservation.
Nadege_B, Sep 2026
We got dropped off 25mins away from our hotel when the person informing the driver it would be 5 minutes. We were walking around with luggage when we could’ve been dropped off right next to our hotel. It was chaotic and uncomfortable for us to finally get to our hotel 45 minutes later bc we had to get on another ferry. Not a great experience with communication and drop off where we booked
Judy_S, Sep 2026
Not enough information about what to do on arrival at Marco Polo. Chaotic system with no people to help. Very long wait. Never again.
Juan_B, Sep 2026
Do not do this. Wait and do it at the airport. You wait an hour at the airport and you still have to walk to the docks. It is not worth your time.
Diane_F, Sep 2026
Packed boat and while they took us to our exact stop, he pulled up to a small dock and it was very difficult to get climb out of boat. was too much room between the boat and the dock and too low.
Ashton_K, Sep 2026
It was easy to find the check in, the boat was nice, however I am docking 1 star because it was very packed on our boat. We had about 11 adults & 1 child total and that was simply too many people. We were packed in closely and it was very hot. Would have been a much better experience if we had a couple less people.
Arleen_R, Sep 2026
The people at the desk were very busy with a line of about 20 people deep. Looks like they were scrambling to arrange boats for all the people waiting. It took about 15 minutes in line and 30 minutes waiting for boat which was fine for our group. There were 13 people crammed in tight quarters with tons of luggage on the boat but boat operator was very nice and helped with luggage and we got to meet other nice people on vacation. Nice experience for us but if you’re uptight and expecting a private taxi just for you won’t like it. We enjoyed it. Be realistic about expectations
christinaklement, Sep 2026
Was easy to locate and the ride was smooth. The driver was polite and friendly helpful with our luggage both getting into the boat and off the boat. Highly recommend using this ride as a way to travel around in Venice.
Francesca_B, Aug 2026
This experience couldn’t have been more perfect. What a fantastic way to enter Venice! I’m visiting Italy with my brother, this is our first time here, and I couldn’t imagine arriving in Venice any other way. It was super easy to find the check in counter and get to the boat at the airport. The driver helped us with our bags and got us very close to our hotel. We just had to walk about 3 min to get to it since our hotel was on a smaller canal, but they were kind enough to print out a map at the airport and show us the best route to get there. We got to see the sights, view Venice from a different vantage point, and we got to know the other travelers on our boat. I was grinning from ear to ear like a child at Disneyland the whole drive into Murano and Venice. We had the absolute best time! Couldn’t imagine a better start to our Italian vacation.
Deborah_B, Aug 2026
We arrived at the airport on time but was then delayed over an hour going thru all the security checks etc , but the taxi was running all day so they still fitted us in without any problems.
The driver was very helpful with our cases and happy and polite.
I'd heard mixed reviews about this service but for us personally we had no problems and was very happy .
Brittney_T, Aug 2026
Overall, our boat transfer was fine and got us where we needed to go. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting quite a while for other passengers who were running late, which meant sitting out in the summer sun longer than expected and definitely took some of the fun out of the experience.
The driver was pleasant enough, although the drop-off felt a bit rushed and we felt like we were being hurried off the boat. Nothing was necessarily bad about the transfer, but the waiting and rushed ending kept it from feeling like the smooth, enjoyable Venice boat experience we had hoped for.
