This was a wonderful tour. We have been all over the world and Sebastian is the best tour guide that we have ever had. He was so knowledgeable about all we saw and also a great driver. I highly recommend this tour with Sebastian if you visit Japan.

We had an enjoyable time. Our driver, Puscal was very professional and got us there through busy traffic. We saw a lot of shrines and temples. He waited patiently. We had a great Ramen lunch. We were lucky we saw the colors of the trees changing when we visited the nearby Lake. Van was clean and nice. My wife fell asleep on the way home. Puscal spoke English very well.

Beautiful scenery!! Ahmed our driver and guide was excellent. He was personable and adapted to our interests and needs. Because it was a holiday weekend the traffic was very heavy and therefore it took 4 hours to drive back to our hotel. He got us back safely after a long day. He made our tour special.

We loved seeing the natural beauty of Japan. The historic sites of the temple were outstanding and have huge cultural significance. Our driver was fantastic and drove under very difficult conditions of heavy rain on the way to Nikko. Thanks for looking after us.

Pleasant trip in spite of some traffic.
Zia was a friendly and good driver.

The driver drove safely and had a comfortable car. The problem is with the description of the event/service, hence 3 stars. The terms "guide" and 'english speaking guide" means that they actually guide you through each location/temple and relay information about each. This is not the case. He is just a driver, who has been driving/touring for 6 months. Also, he is not a local of Japan, and while that might not matter, as a guide in a country, I think it does. If you have done a ton of research and know exactly what you need to see and why, this driver will get you there safely. For us, we did only minimum research, so we were disappointed not to have a knowledgeable guide. I asked about the tree species we passed on the 3 hour drive, and he said, 'yes, these are trees.". One occasion, he parked at one temple and said, "when you exit the first building make sure to go to the one behind it. There is another temple". We went to the building behind, but in fact we were meant to walk around the corner down a long gravel path to the mega amazing Toshogu shrine, which we almost missed and def spent less time in it because we spent too much time at the Rinnoji temple not knowing what we should prioritize. The Toshogu shrine to me read like their Lincoln memorial, in terms of importance. That priority was not communicated or "guided".

A return from my first visit in 1947 was most memorable -- the temples are the same, but the towns and cities are unrecognizable. Our guide Mukarram was suburb and his familiarity with Nikko and the best ways to travel from and to return to Yokohama made it all very pleasant. He was a very enjoyable and informative companion.

You book a private tour with the assumption that you have not only paid for a rental car with a driver. You expect an interactive and entertaining tour guide to share their knowledge and experience with you while you spend like 7 hours in the car. That was absolutely not the case as there was almost zero conversation.

Viewing Toshogu Shrine was the highlight of the day. It’s amazing how much work was done and how intricate and detailed the structures are And all of this without power tools and nails.
Ali was our guide and he was great. Ali has good knowledge of the area and its history all very helpful. He worked hard shepherding us to the numerous sites in the area. We were able to all the major sites. Still there is so much more to see in Nikko. We plan on coming back again. Colleen Sandy and Erin.

I strongly recommend booking a rental car, or perhaps a tour with another company. If you do book on this trip please be firm about what you want to do or you can expect the host to push you into an unwanted or unknown itinerary.
This was a very uncomfortable experience, mostly because of our guide Zia. To give him credit, at the end of it he was accommodating and if we strongly said we wanted to do something he made it happen. However, in areas where we were not as sure, he was pushy about making changes to the tour and at several points quite aggressive about it.
To begin with, we all got in the car expecting to go to Nikko but he began talking about how the experience we booked was not great and we could go to Mount Fuji instead. This was incredibly strange but we decided to rely on his experience as a guide - this was a mistake for a couple of reasons. One, it became clear later on that one of the main reasons he likes to recommend Fuji is that he gets out of the car more than the Nikko trip. Two, our guide was not aware during his recommendation that there was a marathon on at the area of Mount Fuji we visited that made the entire area much more busy, and had several road closures that dictated visitable areas and caused some delays.
A couple of examples of uncomfortable moments. One was on the way to the trip - because we had not planned to go to Mount Fuji, I asked Zia if he could list the itinerary for a second time so I could look into the activities a little bit on the way. He got quite hostile about this out of nowhere saying he had already explained it earlier (when he was convincing us to change from Nikko), I am not sure if he expected us to memorize the new itinerary in that time.
Second, just before drop off he told a story that was clearly fishing for tips - it's my understanding this is not customary for Japan. It felt quite predatory and aggressive when he was discussing this as well.
I hope the hosts of this trip can improve and be more friendly towards the guests that choose their experience.

We had an amazing tour with Zia! He picked us up at the hotel right on time. His van was clean and comfortable. He took us on a tour of a life time. It was the best day ever. He certainly knew everything about our stops. He knew the history of the area, where to go and what to see. It was a full day of excellent sightseeing in Japan. We even had questions on how to take the subway system the next day on our own and he texted us all options available. Zia did this after hours on his time off. He went above and beyond his tour duties. We would definitely highly recommend Zia as your tour guide!!

We had only landed in Tokyo 7 hours before we took our tour with Shahrul so we were a little tired and not sure what to expect. Shahrul made the trip around Tokyo fun and engaging,
we couldn't have had a better guide for our first day in Tokyo.

Zohaib our driver made our day trip to Nikki very memorable! We visited the beautiful Shinkyo bridge, spectacular Toshogu shrine complex including the amazing garden ant the base and the breathtaking Kegon falls. Nikko is simply the most beautiful park! Although my mom was in a shoulder sling and had severe arthritis which would have made climbing in and out of the vehicle challenging… because of Zohaib’s help and thoughtfulness to always park by a sidewalk with elevation to help with her climb … she made it in and out of the vehicle and enjoyed the trip immensely!

Zain our driver, very obliging flexible person. Our previous day Mt. Fuji trip couldn’t see due to fog, Zain determined to show us by taking a different route, we all enjoyed the view, thanks to Zain.

Delayed morning pickup by 1 hour due to trafic. Delayed return by over 1 hour due to same. Nobodies fault & not avoidable but annoying & impacted the day. The morning delay meant we couldn't see as many places as I would have liked. Driver was nice & knowledgeable, but honestly at times did not feel 100% safe with the driving. While it was pretry, Overall we don't think it was worth the money

I booked this tour without knowing the weather condition in Nikko. Now, I wished the organizer had contacted me in advance about the weather condition instead of changing the tour itinerary on the day of the traveling itself. We were promised a visit to the waterfalls and also the lake. But these visits were scrapped and we were suggested to visit Edo Wonderland instead because of the slippery roads.
Now, weather condition is definitely beyond their control. But I wished that they had informed me a day in advance that the tour wasn't possible and either give us the possibility to change destination (somewhere else other than Nikko as they also do a tour to Mount Fuji area) or issued a refund instead. However, I was only inform after the driver has arrived to pick us up.
Aside from the lack of communication, the car that they used definitely did not warrant a USD600+ price. It was cramped and very small with little legroom. Wasn't a comfortable 2 hour journey.
Save your money and do your own trip by renting a car / public transport. Definitely not worth the price.

The time we went to Nikko, the roads were very slippery and we didn't want to risk our guest safety.
Our guide tried to give to you other options in Nikko which you can go.
Tour has operated at full capacity and we tried to accommodate you as much as we can.
The car which we used was mini van good for 6 persons however you were just 2.
We still very apologize as we couldn't meet your expectations.

Our Tour Guide Shoaib is very professional, He gave sufficient time for us to go around each attraction, and never fail explaining the history. It was a wonderful experience for the kids to feel how is it like at 0 degree celsius. Thank you Shoaib!

El "director local" cancelo al guía en español la noche anterior (por enfermedad, lo que es comprensible), pero el guía en ingles solo te lleva y te da unas nociones ligeras antes de dejarte en cada parada (que viene en los libros) así que que sea en español o no, da igual si sabes algo de ingles. Lo mejor, el guía de Pakistan que vino, Zain fue puntual, simpatico y complaciente y educado (puntuacion 10) y que hacerlo en coche a tu bola es mucho mejor que ir en grupo con autobús (puntuacion 10) . Lo peor, el director local quedo en llamarme para ver si había algo que podía hacer para compensarnos por el contratiempo, quedo en llamarme en 30 min y nunca más supe de él (puntuacion 3, porque al menos me avisó y dio opción de reembolso).
