Nice views and lucky with the weather but an unprepared Travel guide with to little Knowledge of the booked trip. We had to argue for travelling to included places.

Our driver was incredible he was very well versed in the history of the area. We were four of us and we all enjoyed the different places that he took us. We only had a couple hours to explore so he let us know what would be possible to cover in that time and we were able to plan an itinerary that would fit our schedule all on the drive from Tokyo. Would recommend anyone to use this service and if possible to request the driver Abdul he was fantastic.

1st time booking thru Viator and it was a bad experience. Be careful as Viator do not check the legitimacy of the tour company. Driver turned up late with an old worn out vehicle and does not have a commercial license. Was hesitant but was too late to make any changes. Driver had no experience and always holding his mobile to check for directions whilst driving. Strong foreign accent (non Japanese). Do not use this service or Viator and risk your lives and ruin your holiday. This package is not worth its price!!

Sorry to hear didn’t have a good experience. We are govt. registered tour operator and serving our customers for more than 10 years. The vehicle we sent was Toyota Vellfire which is used for other tours as well and it is not an old vehicle. The driver has been working with us for 2 years and has conducted dozens of tours. Driver was there before time, he communicated with you at 7:57am, and you sent him the location of the hotel and he was there at 8:10am your pickup time was 8:30am. We have checked drive-recorder data and it shows he was not late.
He may not be up to your expectations. You didn’t take the tour you also use transfer service to Ubuya hotel with luggage and we didn’t charge it and provided you free service. If you take a taxi for 4 people with luggage it will cost you more than you paid for tour and Hotel transfer.
It is very unfair after having extra services free of charge and posting this review.
Next time when you book at any platform, please ask for Japanese driver only and latest luxury vehicle and if you could find it cheaper or same price then please complain about Viator and our company. Thank you for using our services.

We had a great time with our tour guide/driver, Salman. He had good information about the places we toured and each time, waited patiently for my family and I to finish each town/place. Although we didn’t get to finish all that was in the itinerary, since it was impossible to do so because of awful traffic; we did get to see our top 3-4 spots. Realistically you will see around 5 spots in the itinerary because of bad traffic and many tourists. All in all, we had a great time with Salman.

If you are a group of 4 or more , I would highly recommend doing the private car/van tour. You pretty much control your time . We decided to skip some places as it didn’t interest us . Our driver Alil, is flexible and pretty much adjusted to our request .

Our tour guide was very nice. He took us to Mt. Fuji and the areas around. We were able to see the ice cave, wind cave, and lava forest. It was a lot of fun.

Maz, the driver was great but the company Tour Japan is fraudulent and guilty of a bait and switch. We paid for a private tour and the day before when it was too late to book anything else were told that they were adding 4 people to our tour making it no longer private. Those 4 people were then an hour late so we sat in the van outside Tokyo station waiting instead of going on the tour we paid for. Do not use this company.

Mt Fuji is memorable. The shortcomings are: 1. The advertisement lists many stops but actually we have to choose some only. It is not possible to go to all of them in one day. 2. No explanation about the history of those sites.

This tour needs to be blacked out on holidays and weekends. You will also need cash only for anything extra needed on this tour. Did not go to the summit and spent most of the time in traffic at no fault of our tour guide

Fabulous day visiting Mr Fuji and surrounds. Abdul our driver was fun, knowledgeable, accommodating and really made the day special for us. We even joked he parted the clouds so that Fujisan made several appearances! Would highly recommend him and rate the day 10 out of 10!

Seeing my Fuji was nice. The tour guide did not give us any information about the areas we visited. He just drove us around. Also had to pay extra $$$ innYen above price on Viator. I do not recommend this tour.

Everything about this tour was phenomenal. Our guide and driver, Z, arrived right on time to pick us up. The itinerary was perfect. We were able to see all the stops planned. Weather cooperated and we got gorgeous memorable photos of our day. Our favorite stop was the ropeway. Even though it was about an hour wait to go up, the photos of My Fuji from that vantage point are amazing. Hot tip: find the swing. It’s a walk up, but before going up, find the little gift shop and buy your ticket. The swing ride is about 3 minutes, so the line moves quickly. There is no signage about needing a ticket to swing, and we saw everyone climb up to the swing, wait in line, and then learn they had to go back down to buy a ticket. Again, no signage that swing tickets are even sold in the gift shop. It’s about 500 yen per adult. Worth it! The swing operator will take the memorable photos while you swing. We also loved all the other stops and shops on this your. 8 Lakes was beautiful too. Highly recommend this tour.

A very well organised tour, led by our great driver Zee who was full of energy, proactivity and knowledge of the area. We had amazing visibility of the Mt Fuji from various viewpoints, and would highly recommend the panoramic Ropeway which was worth the 1hr wait! Thanks Zee for customising our tour to make it how we wanted it.

It was such a pleasure sightseeing around the Mt. Fuji region with Newton! Throughout the day, he emphasized that the trip was ours to customize, giving us multiple recommendations along with a sense of how long each would take and the most efficient order to do them in. This enabled us to make informed decisions on what our itinerary should be and how long to hang around at each site. He offered great insights into the Mt. Fuji area and Japan in general, and also gave us useful travel tips for the rest of our trip.
Depending on the time of day and location, we got great views of Mt Fuji as well as some cloud-covered views.
We opted to skip the ropeway since it had a 90 minute wait, and instead Newton helped arrange a motorboat trip around Lake Kawaguchi. Then we got lunch at a restaurant popular with locals that he recommended, Hotou Fudo, which had a great local variation on udon served in a simmering clay pot.
Then we visited a traditional Japanese village, Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba, which Newton explained the history of on our way there. It was really interesting to see the buildings and the beautiful goods being sold in each of them (art, silks, souvenirs).
We finished our day by checking out two ice caves, which were quite unique sites to see!

I had an amazing time on this tour. Maz made sure I was able to see everything that I wanted to. He was very organized and accomodating to all my needs! We were able to see Mount Fuji multiple times. Nothing was rushed and I was given plenty of time to enjoy everything. Whrn we had some extra time leftove, Maz suggested other things for me to do and see, which was really nice of him! He arrived perfectly on time, was so respectful throughout my time on the tour and made sure I thorourghly enjoyed the tour. This is an amazing tour to take, definitely worth it!

Let me first say, my driver Waheed was very nice and knowledgeable. I don’t blame any of this on him, though I do think there was some miscommunication. Starting at the beginning, the driver was late (due to an accident on the freeway) – not his fault, but important later. The booking I placed had 8 things on it + 1 optional item. I immediately told him that I was not interested in 2 of the locations; the Fugaku Wind Cave or the Narusawa Ice Cave, but I was interested in the Optional 5th Station. He informed me 5th station was not open (a cursory google search informed it was open as of today), but the 4th station was open – I assumed that meant he would take me there.
The first stop was the Oshino Hakkai, followed by an attempt to get to the Chureito Pagoda, but traffic was bad, so we went to the Arakura Fuji Sengen Shine first, then back to Chureito.
When we made it to Fujikawaguchiko, he informed me we were running late as we had spent too much time at the previous locations, and that there would be no time to do the further activities, however if I wanted, I could do the boat cruise (I have no idea how he thought I would be able to do that + Ropeway in the allotted timeframe). He also wanted to know where I wanted to eat – again, how was there time? I sent him to get his lunch while I did the Ropeway. He informed me that we had spent too much time at the other sites and that this is a 10-hour tour, and what can be seen is based on that. He also said traveling to 4th Station would be another few hours. I then stood in a line for 75 minutes for the Fuji Ropeway (I asked the attendant, and in spring/summer/fall – the height of tourism in Japan, 75 minutes was actually a short line, it’s usually much longer), I felt pressure to return as quickly as possible so I cut my time at the top short.
After that we did Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba, but as I was getting out of the car, he asked me to do the visit quick so we could be on our way. Again, I felt pressure to ‘do it quick’ so I spent about 10 minutes there before we left
A few points: a) I rely on the driver as the expert in figuring out the timeline, if he tells me we have time, I take him at his word b) I had already removed 2 of the stops. I am the tourist and not the expert, so I rely on the tour operator. I’ve re-read the description of the tour multiple times and in no place does it say that these stops are ‘optional based on time’. In fact, it says ’10 hours (approx.)’.
Simply put, I cannot believe this itinerary is achievable in 10 hours (approx.), especially if you were to add on the ‘option’ 5th Station. Remember, I had already removed 2 stops.
Numerous times he reiterated he can’t control the accident or the traffic – of which I completely understand – however, ultimately that is irrelevant to me as I paid a sum for an experience that i was rushed through.
A few minor points. For a private tour – I would have expected a nicer vehicle. The van was not terribly comfortable. And the description indicates there would be bottled water, at no time was I offered water.
So, I’m very frustrated – I had been looking forward to this trip for a lifetime – yet, I felt rushed through it, missed things I expected to see and have a very bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience.
Thusfar, Viator has refused to offer even a cursory refund. their response to me was equally bad:

Maz is a great guide whom knows his stuff and gave great advice to which location to catch the best view of Mt Fuji. Car ride was comfortable and clean. Recommended tour.

Our driver spoke very good English and was friendly. We were informed at 1.30 am that we would be picked up an hour late. It was eventually 1hour and twenty minutes late. This meant that many of the planned stops were closed before we got there. If this was explained early we would have prioritised different stops. In the end we visited the shrine and trading water wheel Village and another tourist village. The ropeway was closed when we arrived, apparently it closed early, the wind cave closed the lava cave closed, not enough time for cruise on the lake. I am happy to acknowledge that things can go wrong with traffic and the driver may arrive late but the time management of the tour was poor and we were not informed early that we could no longer get fit in the itinerary. In fact we were told again in the morning of all the places we would visit.
Summing up...driver spoke good English but did not manage the tour very well. We were disappointed that we didn't see the caves and ropeway. He also made several phone calls that were long and loud while we were driving.

Overall trip was great. Views were nice. We were able to visit Fuji 4th station.
Sadly, Driver was very inexperience navigating maps and the whole trip which turned a 20min ride into 45min :( Also smokes alot, so car will stink of cigaratte. (Tip: Ask for a non-smoking driver if you hate the smell) . Driver though was polite ,apologetic and offered assistance to my senior dad.
Pretty sure I left my sunglasses and never got it back ,but thats my fault for not taking care of my valuable. No blame to the company.
I can reco this company, and positive they will improve.
