We learned so much about tea plants, tea production, and even how to prepare matcha for casual drinking in lattes. We sampled so many great teas and had excellent matcha and hojicha sweets to round things out near the end!

I can't stress enough how great this experience is. The host knows his tea, and taught us in an inviting and interested manner. He kept our attention (and our palates) throughout. It wasn't just trying 7 types of tea and learn to make matcha. Within the 7 types of teas, and 3 matchas, there were variations in taste with temperature which we experienced. And yes, he taught us how to properly make matcha, which I feel confident I could do now. This was by far one of the best experiences I have had.

It was awesome! We learned a lot and could ask as many questions as we wanted. It was a real crash course on Japanese tea. We really wanted to learn a lot so this was perfect, really worth the time. The only thing is that we should have eaten a bit more to balance all the tea we drank, but otherwise it was really perfect, would recommend to anyone with some interest in tea.

This was one of my favorite experiences in Tokyo! They provided a wealth of knowledge as a former tea farmer about the tea we got to experience. His wife made DELICIOUS homemade sweets (best I had on this trip!!!) and we even got to eat tea leaves- a delightful experience I did not know was even possible. Overall, book this experience for a unique and meaningful time! We learned a great deal.

Chisei and Rina provided a wonderful and in-depth experience about matcha. Having been a tea farmer Chisei talked about growing and cultivation from a first hand experience, giving us a new perspective and appreciation. Along with Rina, the two make a great team. A couple of days prior, we received an email which included a short video of how to find where to go within the hotel, which we found incredibly thoughtful and helpful. These are the little touches you will have throughout the experience. When we arrived Rina and Chisei greeted us warmly. From the first moment, they were so kind and friendly, and language isn't a barrier. We sampled many types of matcha learning along the way the process and Rina made delicious sweet treats for us to try. We also got to whisk up our own matcha and had different types of matcha latte - also very yum. At the end, you can purchase some matcha and teas to take home. We did and Rina very kindly provided us instructions on how to make, along with videos - I really appreciate the video touch as it helps understand better. I think anyone who loves matcha and tea would truly appreciate this experience. It was so wonderful and we both look forward visiting again next time we're in Tokyo.

This is one of the best things I did while in Tokyo. Rika and Chisei are wonderful. Their English is very good. And the tasting experience was full of information and great matcha. They also have some wonderful products for sale so you can continue at home. I will be back for their sencha tasting.

This was absolutely wonderful! We had a private tasting and learned many things about the history and production of green tea and matcha. The host, Chisei, is really knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions easily, while Rinas sweets complimented the tasting beautifully. Even the coffee-drinkers in our group enjoyed it a lot, we highly recommend!

I tried many tours and experiences in my three week trip to Japan, and I have to say that Chisei was hands down the absolute best at teaching. He had quite the monumental task of explaining the farming and production process of six different Japanese teas, but had extremely clear and informative diagrams and pictures that he skillfully referred to as our discussion unfolded. As I asked questions and made comments throughout the process, he was not only patient but actively nurturing and encouraging of my curiosity, a trait that is so uncommon to find. Chisei is a true gem of a person! His passion and inquisitiveness is contagious—it was such a pleasure to take his class! Count yourself as lucky if you are able to spend a morning in his company, he is a rare find!

This was a wonderful and refreshing experience! Before, we had very limited knowledge on tea, and now we know so much! Chisei, and his wife, Rina, were very kind and able to explain everything in detail. They gave a refreshing, cold, welcome tea upon arrival (which was good in this heat wave), then went into detail about the teas they will serve, how they are made, and the process of how to make them. Rina even made delicious homemade Japanese sweets and taught us to eat tea leaves with ponzu. Overall, I highly recommend this experience to tea lovers and even those that do not like matcha, because this was a great experience with many different flavor profiles. They were also very nice to have conversation with. Highly recommend!

This was amazing! I already knew that there existed different green teas which are based on the same leaves. Chisei, a very friendly and knowledgeable ex tea farmer could show me the different types of cultivation and processing of the leaves and I could taste the different teas and matcha throughout the experience. I learnt a lot and drank a lot of interesting teas. I would definitely book it again!
