    Getting to drive go-karts...

    Joel_B, Mar 2026
Getting to drive go-karts through Tokyo was an amazing experience! I loved being able to drive around and see the city from a different perspective.

    No flexibility

    Jessica_B, Mar 2026
They could be a little less strict on what they take as proof of license. My kid lost her physical driver's license a couple of day prior to the trip, she had a copy of it on line and the paper form and they did not accept these. Needless to say that they did not let her ride. I didn't want to do it without her but they also refused to give a refund. The drive was good. 2 hours might have been a stretch, 1 hour can give you the experience. The person who kept my daughter company in the van that drive behind us was super kind and reassuring. I understand rules and regs but honestly, Japan is super advanced and they could have printed out a copy from the web or been a little flexible regarding the physical documents.

    Must do!

    Curtis_R, Feb 2026
It's a total Must thing to do in Tokyo!!! it's a great rush you can see a lot in the 2-hour tour of Tokyo. staff is awesome!!! highly recommend

Thrilling kart tour of some of Tokyo’s hotspots

    Paul_G, Sep 2025
This was a great experience from start to finish. Thanks to the safety briefing, and the JapanKart vans upfront and behind us all the way, we had a very exciting two hour tour through Tokyo’s hectic traffic. The karts are easy to drive once you get used to them, although they bounce around a bit on bumps on the streets. As they are low to the ground, it feels like you are absolutely flying. Excellently managed by Matt, Miu and the team. Highly recommended.

    I didnt go on the...

    Verne_B, Jul 2025
I didnt go on the excursion because i didnt know i needed an idp. Therefore i lost $89 because i couldnt get a refund.

    BEWARE!!! Scam business.

    David_D, Apr 2025
BEWARE! Matt Harvey ( British ) is the manager of this business and has an absolute no refunds policy once you’ve paid. We paid for 4 people (£320) and never got to do the karting. We booked once inside Japan so couldn’t get the original paper copy of the international driving license so they say you can’t drive the carts. Matt couldn’t even point us to the part of the booking process where this information is, so not sure where we were supposed to find it. This company seems to get 5* for those that did it and had fun or 1* for people like us that found it to be a scam. Terrible customer service and even worse that they will take your money at point of booking without even a pop up explaining that you must book from your home country.

    Response from Host, Apr 2025

Hello, This is Matt—thank you for your review. I'll respond in the same way as your friend already left a similar review. We take all feedback seriously, and I’d like to respectfully clarify a few points regarding your visit, especially as you mentioned me personally. When you arrived at our shop, I explained that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required to participate, as per Japanese law. Unfortunately, since you did not have the required documentation, we couldn’t proceed with the booking. I pointed out where this information is provided—on the booking page, in a pop-up message during date/time selection, and again in the confirmation email. It’s also clearly stated that we are unable to issue refunds if the proper documents aren’t presented. These policies are in place to ensure legal compliance and transparency for all our customers. Your characterization of me as "nervous" or "disgusting" is simply not accurate. I remained respectful throughout our interaction, despite the growing intensity of the conversation. I did not raise my voice, and I sincerely tried to help you understand the situation. Despite the circumstances, I still offered your group a free coupon for a future visit—something we don’t typically do—because we genuinely want our guests to have a chance to enjoy the experience when they return with the proper documents. Accusations of a “scam” are very serious and completely unfounded. We are passionate about what we do and take pride in hosting people from around the world. Our goal is always to create fun and memorable moments—not to mislead or take advantage of anyone. I do hope the rest of your time in Japan is wonderful, and thank you again for sharing your experience. Best regards, Matt Harvey

    So fun!

    Alex_R, Mar 2025
This isn't exactly a tour since there's no talking during it, but there is something magical about riding go karts all over the streets and highways of tokyo. The team was super nice and we all felt super safe the entire time!

    Go-Karting in Japan

    Noel_P, Jan 2025
My husband and I really enjoyed the go cart experience. Just drive around Tokyo dress in costume was fun. I was pickachu and my husband was a minion. I think it for old children

Great experience and they included free phone mounts!

    Harsh_P, Dec 2024
It was a great experience! I booked it earlier the same day and instantly got a confirmation via Viator and a mobile ticket. I used Google maps to get me to the site, I took the Asakusa line and it was a 10-15 min walk to the building. I originally walked right past it, but when I went back and glanced in, I saw the "Japan Kart" sign. Check in was simple, they had my name on a list, they just validated my credentials and I signed a waiver. They had plenty of costumes - or as I preferred - just thick winter jackets and pants since it was very cold. They ALSO had free Go-Pro and PHONE mounts! I spent all day trying to find a phone mount at Don Quiotes and Bic, because I wanted first-hand footage. I knew on their site they had Go-Pro mounts, I did not realize they had phone mounts. I was so happy to see them, and they were free to use! Rules were simple and fair. Carts go pretty fast, but lots of stops at lights, so its not overwhelming and the carts do also hit a max speed, so you cant go too crazy. We stopped half way through on a bridge with an amazing view of the skyline in the distance. They look lots of photos of us and sent those out for free as well! Would recommend and do again!

    Fun city tour

    Rayyan_S, Nov 2024
It was a great experience! Driving through the city of Tokyo and seeing the beautiful neighborhoods with the wind blowing in your hair. The karts handle well and driving them was a blast!

Terrible experience with lack of understanding and respect

    Jaime_R, Nov 2024
Unfortunately, I have no good memories to share; on the contrary, it was a horrible experience for our first day in Tokyo. If you cannot be at the meeting point 15 minutes before your tour due to unforeseen circumstances beyond your control as a tourist (heavy traffic or issues with public transportation), they will not care, understand or be flexible and will not issue a refund. They will keep your money and consider the involuntary delay as an automatic cancellation. They basically steal your money even though you have valid and real reasons for the delay. Please note that we let them know about our situation one hour before and they were not able to find us a solution but to keep our money. Also, please be aware that Matt Harvey, the manager, and his team are disrespectful and unwilling to help or understand. They furthermore laugh at us instead of helping. They ignored our arguments and concerns and made fun of us. I would not recommend using Japan Kart at any cost, and I hope they don’t delete this review. How they treated us was disrespectful and beyond rude. They lack of respect was unbelievable and I cannot believe that this kind of business operates in Japan. Please find another place, please.

    Response from Host, Nov 2024

Hello Jaime, This is Matt, I would like to take the time to extend my apologies to you once more. You did in fact let us know ahead of time that you had hit traffic which extended your ETA to the time of the cut-off to be able to participate on the tour. At this time I informed you it was the cut-off and offered the possibility of moving the booking to the following morning, unfortunately your schedule did not allow for it. We do clearly outline the times in which the customer needs to arrive in order to get on the tour and also state we cannot reimburse for late arrivals. Although hitting traffic is not within your control and I have sympathy for this, we also have strict policies that we have to follow as a company. Regardless of the above, I had overridden our normally very strict policies and offered you a partial refund to which I have already had this issued to you by Viator. At the time you didn't feel this was satisfactory and asked for more, I apologized but explained this was all I could do in the situation, considering I had already tried to reschedule your booking. To put attention to your comments that we made fun of you, I can assure you this was not the case whatsoever. During the time you were in our office, I clearly communicated with you what I could do for you and what I couldn't do for you. Though we didn't come to a mutual understanding here, I extend my sincerest apologies to you and hope that you still are able to have a fantastic trip of Japan.

    Karting in Tokyo

    Alicia_F, Oct 2024
This was sooo much fun! If you’re in Tokyo, this is a top 3 activity you must do. The instructor/ tour directors were so nice and great at explaining how to use the go karts. And wearing the costumes was fun as well lol

    Which side of the road?

    Rhonda_G, Oct 2024
The staff were very informative and helpful and made sure we felt safe. We are not used to driving on the left side of the road. So, those of us that were not used to it felt pretty confident for the start. We did great, especially having the lead car, paying attention and doing their best not to get separated from us. We had an incredibly fun time!

    Worst

    Palak_S, Oct 2024
We couldn’t find them and they didn’t even respond when we tried to reach them in their number . Couldn’t even cancel

    Response from Host, Oct 2024

Hello, i'm sorry to hear you couldn't locate us. Our address to our shop is listed on our Viator page. If you are still in Japan, we can always move your booking around if you would like.

    Fun experience

    Jeanette_C, Oct 2024
It was an exciting experience. I would recommend again and again. The kart are at a good speed and fun to race on the streets of Tokyo! 🏎️

    Fantastic! Not to be missed.

    David_F, Sep 2024
This was the highlight of my over 50 years of driving! Japankart are very professional and ensured that all drivers were briefed beforehand on the Japanese road rules and operation of the kart. The ride itself was led by a van with a van at the rear to protect riders from traffic and to marshal riders through traffic stops. Riding through the streets of Tokyo, and especially through Ginza, was memorable. All in all, a five star attraction!

    Response from Host, Sep 2024

It was a joy to have you join the tour David! Please do come by again the next time your in Japan

    Japankarts are awesome

    A TOKYO MUST DO

    Ian_G, Aug 2024
Having done many activities around the world this one ranks up there as one of the best. From the moment we arrived to book in we were greeted with enthusiasm and a friendly smile. After the check in process we were given a detailed briefing on road rules, kart operation and safety. Out on the road we were guided by 2 vans one up front and one behind to help us along. It was 2 hours of the best fun. Our tour left at 5pm. Daylight , sunset and Tokyo city lights. Thank you to the entire crew. Special mention to Matt and Emmy. A great experience. A Tokyo must do age no barrier. Im 70

    Best Go Karting Experience Ever!!!

    Zafrin_A, Aug 2024
It was the best experience in Tokyo! The team was so knowledgeable and ran the business wonderfully, thinking about the customer experience being first. They thought about safety and ran the experience perfectly! I liked the neighbourhood we drove around, much better then ones we saw in the rest of Tokyo that were to busy.

    It was a really fun...

    Marjorie_B, Jul 2024
It was a really fun experience. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend the experience to adventurous people!

    A must when in Tokyo!

    Christina_G, Jun 2024
The 2 hour trip was a great amount of time to see a lot of different parts of the city! I had so much fun driving the carts around, it was such a cool and amazing experience. We also stopped at a lookout of the rainbow bridge was great to take photos in front off. Would definitely do it again.

    Amazing!

    Kathleen_O, May 2024
We had the best time. The guide cars were so helpful and easy to follow. Was such a great thing to do, would highly recommend this.

Just a fun thing to do in Tokyo

    paul_d, May 2024
Very Cool Time, the family had a blast, very cool drive around Tokyo. The company is very organised and professional, with lead and follow cars for safety.

    Scammers and misleaders

    Luis_G, May 2024
None. We were NOT allowed to do activity since we didn’t have international permit. But full description on Viator says license but puts pictures and on last picture shows the rest on instructions. This is a scam and very misleading. Most people read and not review photos. We were turned away and with no refund ($300ish) which I will dispute after I get back. AND FOR BOTTOM QUESTION MAKING ME PUT SOMETHING… I was with no one since we didn’t do activity.

    unique and fun

    Andre_B, Apr 2024
What a fun, unique and anazing experience. Driving in Tokyo at night with all the lights was amazing. Will do it again when I go back to Tokyo.

    Excellent tour!

    Maurice_M, Apr 2024
Driving through the city, it was awesome! It was like we were celebrities, people were smiling, waving, taking our pictures and were happy to speak to us! The young & old, people walking and in vehicles. They seemed to have just as much fun seeing us driving as we did actually driving! Definitely recommend any who visits Tokyo to do this tour!

    Awesome!

    Makalani_L, Apr 2024
This was the most exciting thing we did so far. Driving down the streets in Tokyo. The whole experience was awesome. I enjoyed every moment. I highly recommend japankart.

    Once in a lifetime!

    Heather_M, Apr 2024
What a cool and memorable way to see Tokyo. The staff were amazing and provided a safe and fun trip. My nephews loved driving on the "left". Truly once in a lifetime experience.

    Great fun. Very safe!

    Glendon_M, Jan 2024
Awesome fun and very professionally run. We were 3 in a group of 10 karts, and the 2 staff members were in minivans at the head and tail of the group. The staff managed to control the pace well and kept us all together almost all of the time. We only had to wait a couple of times when the group was split at traffic lights. Given the size of the group I was very impressed! The route took us through many famous areas of East Tokyo and the Bay area, and we had a few stops for photo opportunities. Everyone loved it! I will be doing this again in March with other family members who will be visiting.
