Itinerary

After pickup outside of Hotel Tivoli in Lisbon, you’ll travel to Sintra, hailed the European capital of Romanticism, in an air-conditioned vehicle. During the journey, you’ll admire lush greenery and hear tales of legend from your guide.

Your first stop is Pena National Palace — undoubtedly the gem in Sintra’s glittering architectural crown. Tour the vibrant confection of domes and towers, colored lemon yellow and pastel pink, and be sure to capture photographs of the surrounding scenery from your elevated viewpoint.

Then, spend relaxed free time exploring Sintra, the historical center of which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Next, head to the village of Colares where you can enjoy a tasting of regional wines at a local winery.

During the journey back to Lisbon, you’ll stop at Cabo da Roca, Europe’s westernmost point, to witness towering cliffs and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. See, too, the beautiful beaches of Estoril and Cascais, quaint coastal towns home to boutiques, palaces and restaurants.

Your tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

Our shared tour turned out to be a private tour with guide and van. It wasn't until we got home, that I realized that we didn't get the tour I had signed up for. We were supposed to do two palaces in Sintra and visit Cabo da Roca. However, we wasted two hours in Cascais which allowed only enough time to do the National Palace in Sintra. Sintra is worth a whole day by itself. Our guide was very quiet and didn't add a lot of information to the tour.

Excellent day out, just the two of us with Jose, who was a wonderful host. We were taken to many interesting places we would never have found on our own. Highly recommended!

Not only was this an amazing tour, the tour guide was one of the best guides that I've ever had - he was extremely knowledgeable, with history, architecture, literature, restaurants, cafes - and of course, the famous Portuguese pastries - and was also extremely personable. His communication skills were outstanding, and he was able to thoroughly answer any question that I had. Aside from the beauty of the area, the magic with which the tour guide conveyed the information of this beautiful area, blessed by nature and man, added to one of the most amazingly wonderful days of my life.
