We had such a great time touring Sintra with Carolina. She was warm, personable, and genuinely felt like the perfect person to show us around since she's a local who grew up in the area. One of the most fascinating parts was learning about Sintra's unique microclimate and its vastly different weather than nearby Lisbon. My daughter and I had literally landed in Portugal that morning and were running on very little sleep, but the tour was paced perfectly... not too much walking, not too much sitting, and just the right amount of history and explanation. Riding around in Carolina's open-air jeep gave us a chance to see so much in a short amount of time, including beaches, stunning overlooks, palaces, castles, and an incredible variety of plants and trees from all over the world that somehow thrive there.
