Start with a Reykjavik hotel pickup, and travel inland by Super Jeep, a comfortable 4x4 designed to negotiate rugged terrain.
As you travel, hear from your guide about Iceland’s volcanic geology and perhaps use the flexible itinerary to adjust the times you spend at each site, according to your group’s wishes.
Stop first at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. Learn how the landscapes have been formed over millennia, and absorb the contrast between the lush green vegetation and rich, black ground. See Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake, and stop at Althing, where the world’s first parliament met in AD 930.
Travel on to Geysir, a geothermal field of hot springs, steam vents and the remnants of an old volcano. Stroll around the boiling mud pools and view Strokkur; the geyser that shoots hot water high in the sky every few minutes.
Continue to Gullfoss Waterfall, whose name means ‘Golden Falls,’ a reference to the shimmering, multi-colored mists that can sometimes appear above the waters. Admire the waterfall, whose waters plunge into a canyon, and if the weather permits, get close to the cascades.
As dusk falls, begin your quest for the northern lights. Iceland is one of the world’s best places to see them, and your all-terrain 4x4 and knowledgeable guide will allow you to identify and access the best potential viewing sites.
On your search, hear how the lights appear when cosmic rays, solar wind, and magnetospheric plasma interact with the upper atmosphere. Make stops to survey the dark skies, and with luck, enjoy a sighting. The pulsating colors of the lights, usually green and blue, split the darkness and sometimes shine brighter than the moon.

I booked the Golden Circle and Northern Lights Superjeep tour, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Iceland. From start to finish, the day was packed with incredible scenery, fascinating history, and a true sense of adventure that you simply don’t get on a standard bus tour.
During the day, we explored the classic Golden Circle route, i.e. Þingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss, but what made it special was the small-group feel and the flexibility of travelling in a Superjeep. Our guide, Adam, was extremely knowledgeable, sharing Icelandic stories, geology facts, and great photo tips along the way. Walking between tectonic plates at Þingvellir and watching Strokkur erupt at Geysir were definite highlights, and Gullfoss took my breath away with its power and beauty.
After daylight faded, we set off into the countryside in search of the Northern Lights. The guide went above and beyond, checking sky conditions and driving to several remote spots to find clear skies. When the auroras finally appeared, it was pure magic: green lights dancing across the sky.
It is a long day, so be prepared with warm layers and patience, especially for the nighttime portion. But the combination of iconic sights, off-road adventure, and the chance to witness the aurora made it absolutely worth it.

From pickup to drop-off this tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide Adam's pickup from Reykjavik was prompt and convenient, and the 4x4 Super Jeep was ideal for the terrain — very comfortable and rugged. The Golden Circle highlights were superb: Thingvellir’s dramatic rift valley, the bubbling Geysir geothermal area and the thundering Gullfoss waterfall are each must-sees, and we had enough time at each stop to take photos and soak it in.
What made this tour stand out was the small-group feel (capped at six people), which kept things personal, relaxed and un-rushed. Our guide shared helpful local insights and adjusted the itinerary depending on weather and aurora forecasts. Once darkness fell we drove away from light pollution to prime viewing spots — even if the lights are never guaranteed, the locations and timing gave us our best chance. Well paced, great value, and a genuinely memorable way to see both the Golden Circle and hunt for the northern lights. Highly recommend!

Jeep was tight for 6 plus driver. There were 4 of us so it was fine. Driver/ guide was fabulous! He tried desperately to get us to see the lights but to no avail. Guide was informative and showed is geysers, waterfalls, shops etc. ending with a great meal at the restaurant of his suggestion.

Took me way over a year to write a review and I don’t even know why. This trip was absolutely breathtaking. Adam was a great guide and very knowledgeable of the area. Felt safe throughout the journey even when we hit some bad weather which just added to the adventure. Would 100% book this trip again. It’s a must do.

When the tour guide picked us up he informed us that there had been changes to our itinerary. He told us we were going to the Secret Lagoon, which was not planned. We were not prepared to go there since our swimsuits were still wet from our trip to the Blue Lagoon. Later he told us we wouldn't be able to see the Northern Lights. He said we were going to a restaurant, which confused us because it was not on the schedule. He picked the Mika Restaurant it was awful and the kitchen or waitstaff must have been sick because we have been trying to recover from a cold or flu since we left the restaurant on Sunday 2/23/25. I think the tour company didn't want to issue a partial refund to everyone so they improvised this itinerary. The food was horrible, only one couple went in the Secret Lagoon because no one was prepared and they should have tried to reschedule the Northern Lights for another evening. Some tour companies offer a free retry if you do not see the Northern Lights on the first try. It was a waste of time and to make matters worse it was my birthday.

My husband and I had an amazing time on this tour! We were able to see so many amazing sites as well as the northern lights. We had a great time with the other couples on this trip and the tour guide, Adam, was so great! He made sure we were comfortable and answered all our questions for the whole 12 hours! I’m glad we did this tour with Adam! He is great, knowledgeable, friendly, and had interesting stories to share about his adventures in Iceland. I got to make new friends from other countries in this tour and explore the Golden Circle together. The weather had been so rainy and windy the days prior to this tour that we didn’t know if we would be able to see the northern lights, but we saw them! Adam knows what he’s doing and I’m very grateful he was determined to find them. The size of this group was perfect, we had to move places 3 times when chasing the northern lights, so being a small group was perfect. We stopped for dinner at this cute town and food was delicious. Overall a great experience! Also, Adam is very responsive prior to the tour and the day of, if you have any questions. I definitely recommend!

We were very lucky to have such beautiful weather the whole day which made for the perfect pictures around the Golden Circle sites. Peter, our guide, was knowledgable about Icelandic geology and as the sky darkened, he was checking constantly for the Northern Lights so we didnt miss them. We found a great spot and the views were incredible - infact there really are no words to explain. The host really makes the tour and Peter's energy kept the group going despite the temperatures being -5C to -11C! Wonderful day, and wonderful experience. And a big happy birthday to Peter!

Adam was fantastic for the entire day. Very knowledgeable of all the sights and an expert locating the Northern Lights. Also an amazing photographer!!
The car was fantastic, the day was well planned, and even if it was freezing, I would do it all over again happily.

Spent almost 11 hrs with our guide, Adam…loved every second!
The vehicle was comfortable and clean, Adam was knowledgeable and entertaining, and the sights speak for themselves in the photos. We didn’t manage to see the Northern Lights (can’t control nature!), but boy did Adam try for us!
Highly recommend this tour for couples, solo travelers or a small group/family. Max 6 people in the vehicle. We travelled as a couple and had a lovely family (mum, dad, 14yr old) as companions on the tour.

We were blessed to have Adam as our knowledgeable guide for our tour. We drove around Iceland and enjoyed seeing Thingvellir National Park, Geysirs, Gulfoss Falls, enjoyed dinner together, and ended the day on a Northern Lights tour where he used all sorts of advanced technology to help us find them!
While the sights were amazing, this tour is special because of Adam and his experience and knowledge. This tour was the highlight of our weeklong visit!

Simple. We actually saw the northern lights after searching many times in Iceland, Finland, and Norway. While we agree there is a degree of pure luck involved, Adam, our driver and guide clearly knew the best spots to look. Also kudos to him for helping one of the passengers who misplaced his wallet try to find it by backtracking on the route, thereby demonstrating a real concern for his tour group. He also made major efforts to help people make the most of their cameras. In other words excellent guide with a real concern for his tour group.

Adam was the absolute best guide. Super helpful, knowledgeable and fun. We had the best day and we were with a great group of people.
My favorite part of the trip was hiking between the continental divide. And Adam had clip ons for your shoes to use.
We didn’t see the northern lights but we were able to go to a secret lagoon which was amazing and the restaurant Mika. Highly recommend if in Iceland.

Adam did a phenomenal job of bringing us to the unique sights and accommodating the needs of our group. Being in a rugged 4x4 with only two other couples allowed for plenty of interaction. Adam brought us to a remote area, where we were able to see the Northern Lights and get pictures. It was obvious that he is as excited about nature and photography as the people on the tour.

Adam was great. A small and personal tour of the geyser and the old Viking parliament. Alas no lights despite clear skies as space weather was not conducive but would have been from 1.30am onwards.

This was the best trip we took on our Icelandic holiday. We were very lucky with the weather and even luckier with our tour guide. He was attentive, helpful and full of knowledge. From the moment we got in the car, I don’t think we asked a question that he didn’t know the answer to. If you are looking to book a golden circle, and Northern Lights tour; Adam is your man. After our gorgeous few stops around the national park and Geyser, he took us to Restaurant Mika; a gem. Delicious food, and the best chocolates in Iceland. We had the most incredible day yesterday with Adam seeing what beauty Iceland has to offer. Adam is such a lovely guy who made our day one we will never forget, he is so knowledgeable we all absolutely loved the day (ages range from 10-52), topped off with seeing the Northern Lights along with a meteor shower at the same time.
