Itinerary
After meeting your expert local guide in central Porto, begin your Porto walking tour. First, enter the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Porto’s center. Learn the origins of Porto from your guide, which was first a Roman outpost, later came under Moorish rule and was mostly decimated in the 19th century by the French.
Next, observe old Romanesque walls and the Porto Cathedral. Then, see classic Baroque architecture as you stroll by the Church of Santa Clara, nearby let your eyes soak up vibrant colors of Moorish tiles that decorate building walls.
Continue along Aliados Avenue to Liberdade Square and listen to the chirp of locals. Arrive at the monument to King Peter IV of Portugal, built to honor the king also known as “The Liberator” and first ruler of Brazil.
After enjoying the historic city center, move on to Ponte de Dom Luis I, a modern double-decker bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel’s protege who gave it an Eiffel touch. Gaze out over the Duoro and view the traditional wooden rabelo boats that once were used to transport grapes to the cellars. Promenade along Cais de Gaia, lined with cellars and learn about how Port (fortified wine) is made. After passing markets and shops, finish your Porto walking tour in Ribeira Square where your friendly guide will bid you adieu.

So glad we did this tour. Learned a lot about Porto and the history of Portugal. Our guide Gio was extremely knowledgeable.

This walking tour with Alejandro was excellent. He was a very engaging host and shared a lot of knowledge about Porto and its history. It was also clear he loved the city so his excitement was certainly contagious. He also shared information about the architecture of the building s and churches. The churches were beautiful and he encouraged us to visit them later. This tour was so interesting and Alejandro’s great sense of humor was enjoyable. The train station was historic and the Bolhão marketplace was a very nice upscale experience. This tour with Alejandro was excellent and I highly recommend it.

It was raining, hard. We decided not to take the tour due lighting and slippery cobblestone sidewalks. The tour would not rebook us to a later time. We were out over $300.

The tour guide Francisca was wonderful and imparted so much knowledge to the group. She was also very kind and had a great sense of humor. I feel that I got a comprehensive view of Porto with Francisca’s tour.
The tour as far as it went was was very good and the guide (Alejandro) was excellent but he seemed to run out of time and as a result we didn't get to Torre dos Clerigos or pass by the Livraria Lello - he only told us about them
It’s a 3 hour walk around sights of Porto, lots of information plus a coffee and biscuits afterwards.
Great tour, relaxed pace. Interesting and friendly guide. I was alone but the small group was very comfortable.
The tour was about 2 hours or so and covered most of the Porto city center. The guide was very knowledgeable about the sites and history of the area. She was interesting and the tour was fun.
Our guide, Rita, was very knowledgeable about her city. She also was very balanced with the information, she was funny and full of facts, never boring.

Our guide Alejandro was outstanding. Extremely knowledgeable about many things. He took us through the city down streets few guides would navigate. Hidden gems that were so much more memorable.
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!!! The cobblestone streets with severe inclines and reclines require stamina. We walked 7 to 8 kilometers in roughly 4 hours. Whew!

Our was knowledgeable and quite accommodating. We saw the old town in the best way possible , on foot. Would recommend when visiting Lisbon.
Gio is a personable and engaging young woman but her inexperience showed during our tour. She provided some interesting historical context but her delivery is a bit immature and we spent too much time on extraneous information. We would suggest she be less concerned with being charming and funny and more with providing important information to Porto visitors. A little bit of organization and better focus would improve the experience.
