It's our first time in Porto and hopefully wouldn't be our last. I highly recommend this tour 10/10. The people from Oporto Road Trips were very swift with communicating with me regarding changes in the itinerary. They provided clear information about our driver, plate number / type of car and all information for pick up/drop off.
Our driver / tour guide, Marcio, was very prompt and arrived at 8:05 am for hotel pick up and got us back exactly at 5:30 pm, which was mentioned in the itinerary. He drove us to a quaint town, Amarante to see the church, views of the river and the little town. He then drove us to 3 different wineries that included a sommelier educating us about the history / wine production, diff kinds of wines and we were also asked to enter an old wine barrel if we liked! We also went to a restaurant for a traditional portuguese lunch that included red / white wine, espresso, meat marinated with port wine, lamb with potatoes/carrots, beans and sausage and white rice. The boat tour was amazing as well, the views are stunning! A must see. He was also very knowledgable about the city of Porto, Villa Real, Amarante, Douro and he was also able to show us some sceneries for good photography spots. He also drove us safely and smoothly throughout!!

It was an amazing day! Pedro was our driver and guide and he excelled at both. The drive is well over an hour and he kept the eight of us entertained with his astounding knowledge of Portuguese culture, history and wine. He also has a wonderful sense of humor. We did a quick coffee/pastry stop then headed to our first tasting followed by a delicious lunch including more wine! After lunch was a cruise on the Duoro which was blissful due to the peaceful river and the beauty of the area. We had another very interesting winery tasting and then headed back to Porto. Overall it exceeded my expectations and was a perfect day. We also lucked out with gorgeous dry weather in November!

We did the 3 winery tour. Our guide Joanna was very sweet and helpful. The tour was excellent. She also had our group stop at a local cafe to get breakfast before first tour which was awesome since most cafes were not open early enough for us to get something before getting in the van.
The first winery Quinta do Bejo had a great tour. The last one Quinta de Tedo was definitely the best of the 3, the port was great and the tour was great. The 2nd stop which was the "extra" for the 3 winery tour was just ok, we got brought in through the service entrance/loading dock instead of the front which was strange and it was really just a tasting without any overview of that winery.
A couple of points to know. The 2 winery tour with the boat and the 3 winery go in the same van, so half of the communications say 2 winery tour with boat ride and half say 3 winery tour which was a bit confusing but not an issue with the tour itself. I just kept thinking they has switched my tour without telling me (they didn't). The 3rd winery is while the other part of the group is on the boat.

Duoro Valley is beautiful and the wine tastings at the smaller family vineyards were amazing and very educational. Our guide Andreia was exceptional with her knowledge of the area and a fun guide. It was a wonderful day… highly recommend!!!

What a great experience! After being picked up from our hotel we realized that it was not the tour we initially booked, but it was definitely still worth it. Douro Valley (and the entire region) is absolutely stunning, pictures simply cannot do it justice! Our guide, Pedro, was extremely fun and personable and had extensive knowledge about the wineries, local areas and Portugal in general. We learned a lot during the winery tours and had a great time tasting different wines, olive oil and local Portuguese food. Pedro definitely made the tour exceptional with his contagious love of wine and Portugal, the only downside is that we have a newfound love of Port wine and the available selections at home leave something to be desired! Ha!

It was a really fun experience with an awesome driver/ tour guide. You get to see beautiful landscapes while enjoying wine. They tried to accommodate for dietary restrictions where possible, which was appreciated. I would say the experience could be improved if all the tasting sites provided snacks with the wine, instead of just the one.

Made the most out of a day by visiting 3 wineries in the Douro valley.everything was scheduled perfectly to have enough time in each stop. Managed to take a side trip to Amarante and lunch at a local spot.
You really need an expert like Pedro to do this trip. He was explaining so many facts that would take long to research. Such a separable experience that even the van ride was comfy. He had cold drinks ready for the group and vehicle was always cold and comfy,
I’d book Pedro again and reco to my friends.

From the title, “Exclusive Duoro Valley: Visit 3 Wineries, 9 Wine Tastings and Lunch,” one would expect a relaxing, ADULT day, sampling and learning about Duoro Valley wines. If this is what you want, I would recommend a private tour. We scheduled this as a small group, never thinking once that there would be children on the tour! What parent would bring their 2-3 year old and 7 year old children to an alcohol oriented tour? The toddler SCREAMED almost the entire way from Porto to the Duoro Valley (1 1/2 hours). We were transported in a 9 person capacity van. We were unable to hear our tour guide (who had a microphone) due the child’s screaming. At the wineries, he was disruptive to the winery staffs’ presentations. He talked and screamed again the entire way back to Porto. In my personal opinion, it should been clear that children would be on the tour. I also think that this should be an adult excursion only, given the nature of the experience. I blame this on Viator. Had this been my first Viator booking, it would have been my last.
Secondly, no where when we booked did it mention an optional boat tour on the Duoro River. All the others in the group did the boat tour, so we felt like we needed to do this also. In doing so, we paid an extra 25 euros (for 2), and went to one less winery (2 instead of 3 as the title states). The boat tour was filled with drunk, loud patrons, lasted maybe 45 minutes, and again we couldn’t hear any of the recorded guide commentary. Not worth missing the extra winery and paying extra!
On a positive note, our tour guide, Bernardo, was great and knowledgeable. We couldn’t blame him for our horrible experience. The Duoro Valley was beautiful and was something that you should see. The two wineries and staff presentations were good. Unfortunately, because of the aforementioned, it was a terrible experience. If I did it again, I’d book a private tour to be safe or look for one that states adults only.

While we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the Douro Valley itself and had a positive experience with our guide Bernardo, we fully understand how a disruptive environment can impact a day meant to be relaxing and enjoyable.
However, we would like to clarify a few important points:
- This tour is indeed open to all guests, including families. Child tickets are available on all booking platforms, including Viator. While most of our participants are adults, we can’t restrict bookings to adults only unless all platforms offer that setting. That said, we always advise clients looking for a quieter and more exclusive setting to opt for a private tour.
- Regarding the river cruise: The boat activity is part of a different tour product that is listed separately. You had originally booked the tour that includes 3 wineries. Our guide, on the day, kindly offered the possibility to switch to the 2 wineries + river cruise version, for those who preferred the cruise experience. This is something we sometimes do as a courtesy, especially because guests tag along well and prefer to keep doing the activities together, but it is optional and requires a separate ticket, which is why there was a charge.
- It’s important to mention that we don’t have control over external activities like the river cruise, including other passengers or the audio system on board. We’re sorry to hear that this part of the experience was not enjoyable.
We appreciate your honesty, and your comments have been taken seriously — we’re always looking to improve the way expectations are set. We will review how this optional swap is offered and how we communicate the family-friendly nature of the experience.
We hope that, in the future, you’ll give the Douro another chance. Perhaps with a private tour, where everything is tailored to your preferences from start to finish - let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

The tour itself stopped at a small town for breakfast, 3 wineries each with their own feel, history, and approach to wine making and a local restaurant for lunch. We loved that we were able to not only try amazing Ports and other regional wines from the Douro, but also authentic pastries and meals from the region. The wines we tasted were all phenomenal, the food was interesting and well made, and the views of the Porto and the Douro valley were even more incredible.
Luís, our Tour Guide, was truly the highlight of the day. He not only detailed the rich history of the regions/towns as we passed through them but also provided his own true lived experiences within them. His humor, knowledge and professionalism quickly turned a “tour” being taken by 8 strangers into a group of friends exploring together.
This day was the highlight of our Porto/Lisbon trip and is one I will recommend to any who are coming to the region in the future.

Luis was the best tour guide. He was so attentive, warm and knowledgeable, and made everyone feel super comfortable. We stopped at three different wineries which all were different from one another, and meant that we came away feeling like we’d really experienced the Douro valley. Lunch was also delicious. Wonderful way to experience Duoro Valley from Porto. Our guide George was on time, helpful and informative. 2 out of 3 wineries we visited were really good. They were family owned and provided a more personalized experience. We even bought wine from them. George even had us stop by the quaint village of Amarante which was nice. Lunch was included in the tour and quite good. The “drunk cake” we had for dessert was the best.
