Manuela and the bus driver were absolutely amazing. This exceeded my expectations. Wonderful company and wonderful fun and great port. We are so glad that we went and she made everything more fun. Explanations were great and we found out more information about Portugal. I am amazed by this place. Would do it again.

Mia was absolutely amazing. The whole day was brilliant. Did not expect a full 3 course meal with unlimited wine. Amazing photo stops. First tasting had 3 ports, and last winery had one. Purchased whole bottle as well for 8 euros. Overall a fab 10 hr trip celebrating friends big 5 0 with a hr boat trip

Itinerary

In the early morning, board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for the rolling hills of the Douro Valley. During the scenic drive, your guide provides commentary and details the day ahead.

Your first stop is Peso da Régua, a sprawling riverside town famed for its production of port wine.

Throughout the day, visit areas that show you the potential that the region has. Stop for a typical Portuguese lunch that includes three amazing dishes to choose from (fish, meat, or vegetarian).

Sated, board a boat and enjoy a river cruise down the Douro; delight in your beautiful surroundings before you return to the coach and travel to another viewpoint to capture sweeping panoramas of the landscape.

Stop at a beautiful viewpoint before returning to your Porto hotel and bid your guide farewell.

A Great Way to Experience the Douro Valley

My partner and I took this tour during our stay in Porto, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Miguel was an exceptional guide from start to finish. During the roughly hour-and-a-half drive to the Douro Valley, he kept everyone engaged by sharing his extensive knowledge of Portuguese wines and his genuine passion for the region. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and did a great job setting expectations for the day while making everyone feel comfortable. The Douro Valley itself is absolutely breathtaking—it’s the kind of place that looks like it’s straight out of a painting. The itinerary was well thought out, giving us plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery while enjoying some excellent wine tastings, which naturally focused more on Port wines. The included lunch was also delicious. I’d also like to give a shoutout to our bus driver, who skillfully navigated the large coach bus along the valley’s narrow, winding roads. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.

Amazing experience Igor and our driver Tiago were a 10/10 this tour would not be as amazing without them. Just a couple of things to note this is a great experience if you want a light touch port experience. The cruise on the Douro is short but you get to see why this area is special. The port wine tours were great and provide a great intro into Port and you should definitely use the knowledge to visit other wineries or lodges in Porto.

Learned a lot about the history of port wine and regional significance. The countryside was beautiful but the whole excursion was simply too long. From 8:30am to 6:30pm and we were on the bus for 95% of it. Our first stop for wine wasn’t until 1:00 and it was much less enjoyable to drink while also being so hungry. We didn’t stop for food until 3:00 which by then we were hot, starving, and a little nauseous. All in all our guide was knowledgeable and the wine tasting enjoyable but took up too much of our day too be worth it when we were only in Portugal for a short trip.

Milena was such an amazing tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about all of the city’s history and everything about wine! She played great music and kept the energy up during our long van rides. Amazing! From Porto to Duoro. Flabio our guide and the driver were amazing. I ended up bonding with folks from Findlan, Sweden, Australia and Denmark. Great folks - we all sat together at the planned lunch at the winery and had great conversations. Flabio is knowledgeable, very attentive and a great pleasant host. Not much walking which was a big plus. Book it don’t wait!!

This was a full day activity which combined the perfect amount of walking with sight seeing by bus. The guides were knowledgeable, the food was delicious and the tastings were plentiful. Luis was our guide and he was personable and funny. He also gave us a pile of good Porto site seeing activity ideas to keep us busy for the duration of our stay in Porto.

The tour guide and the bus driver were great, and the best part of the experience. The tour itself was not worth the time as it took more than two and a half hours to arrive to the first destination. The visit to the farm was beautiful, but I think we would have much rather had time for more tastings, especially considering the time it took to drive. The boat ride immediately after was nice and refreshing, but it seemed a little ad hoc. A glass of wine or refreshment might have been nice. The worst part of my experience with Viator has nothing to do with this tour, however. It was a mistake made on my part, but compounded by a lack of follow-up/communication with the company. I booked a tour almost a month ahead of time, BUT failed to receive any email notification confirming the tour. I kept searching my email and waiting, but could not find anything confirming my tour. So, the night before, in a panic, I booked another tour that same afternoon. This time, I did receive confirmation, but my husband also confirmed that we were charged for the earlier tour that I had no notifications from. I called Viator in distress. They were extremely unhelpful and said I booked the tours, so I had to pay for them both. This seems like a terrible company policy, and it caused a lot of mental anguish and distress, ruining a day of vacation with my family. I will never book anything with Viator again, and I will be disputing the double-charge.

A good day tour, with a very good guide (Flavio). The presentations were informative and the lunch was very good. It was very hot on our tour day and the first winery did not have working fans. They also only had one ladies bathroom.

This was a fabulous day touring the Douro wine Valley. We got to visit two different wineries for our wine tasting. Lunch afterwards at the first winery was absolutely delicious. This tour also includes a boat ride on the DOURO river. Fabulous!

Miguel, our tour guide was a font of knowledge and very affable. Ezequiel (?) our driver was also excellent. The lunch at Santa Marta was three courses: I had soup, fish, and port-soaked cake, though there were other options for the main and dessert. This was followed by tasting three ports from the vineyard: a white, a tawny, and a ruby. This was followed by a trip to Quinta de Marracos where the current owner, César, gave a lively talk about the history, business, and production of port. The day finished with a leisurely boat trip down the river.

The tour guide and bus driver were great, everything seemed well organized and on time as well. Only things were that the wineries were okay, not great. The first one was very run down, no locks on the bathroom door, AC wasnt working so we were sweating at lunch, and the walls in the room looked moldy and gross. The 2nd one was a little better but the tour guide at the winery was so boring. I think different wineries would have been a better idea. The food at lunch was good, nothing special but decent food. Tasted like some of it may have been frozen or pre-packaged stuff though. All in all, I would recommend it still, but I suggest bringing a personal fan and make sure you bring your own water as it costs money on the bus. We met some awesome people and had a great time, despite the heat

Our day in the Douro Valley was absolutely spectacular, and I cannot recommend this wine tasting tour enough. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, look no further. A huge thank you to Michael, who is truly the best tour guide we could have asked for. His knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm added so much value to the day. We also want to give a special shoutout to Lazarus, our driver, who made sure we navigated the stunning, winding roads of the region comfortably and safely. The wineries we visited were fantastic, each offering a unique atmosphere and, more importantly, delicious wines that kept the tastings going all day long. Between the endless wine and the breathtaking, world-class views of the valley, we had a truly great time from start to finish. This tour was a highlight of our trip!

We had an incredible time with our your guide Catarina. She had some great stories from the locals, kept us on track and was kind and funny. All of the stops on the tour were great and we got some great pictures. Will be recommending this trip highly to friends coming to Porto later in the summer
