What a wonderful day trip! Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience - bus, boat, train, wine tasting, lunch, candy at Regua, and amazing views. Catarina, our tour guide, was phenomenal.

Catalina was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable of the area. She also was a lot of fun. The Douro Valley was so beautiful and a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Porto (though the city is great of course). The lunch was amazingly good as well. Highly recommend!

They left without us! We couldn't reach the tour operator by phone, Viator tried and they never picked up. We were on time, but a bit lost. We paid over $300 for this full day trip, so you would think they would have called us when we couldn't find them. Turns out we were only 1 block away. I would like a refund.

Due to weather conditions prior to the trip we ere unable to to engage with the railway or boat aspects of the experience. However Viator went out of their way to ensure that we were able to enjoy the Douro valley, wine tasting and excellent lunch stop. We went by mini bus instead and enjoyed two wine tasting stops. These were the actions of a company you can trust.....

This was by far my favorite tour of my itinerary. Our guide Antonio was the best… very sweet, respectful and very knowledgeable . The drive to Douro valley was awesome in a really nice vehicle. The entire wine tasting experience , the boat ride, lunch and the coolest train ride made this tour very special. Worth every penny we paid i We were really well taken care of. And had a truly fabulous experience .

This should be on your bucket list as it’s hard to put into words the beauty and immensity of this wine region. We traveled in early November and the autumn leaves made it very special. Our driver (Victor) was lovely, informative and made the visit magical. Highly recommended.

Our guide Pedro was very impressive. His knowledge of the area and personal perspectives were a welcomed addition to our experience.

Manuel was amazing. He knew all about the region, great driver, kind nature.
The trip was one of the best we have done here in Portugal. We would highly recommend this tour. It was a small group and beautiful scenery. We booked a Duoro river cruise with train, river cruise and lunch at a winery with a small group of 8 people. What we got was a cancellation of our booking late the night before(in fact so late that we didn't see the cancellation until morning) a replacement tour which was a Duoro river tour, wine tasting at a winery, lunch at a restaurant on a bus with 16 others. The late cancellation gave us no time to review our booking, we tried calling the phone numbers provided but they were not answered so we had no choice but to turn up to the meeting point and cross our fingers that we would be on another tour. Having said this the tour that Viator chose to assign us to we really did enjoy, our tour guide Katarina was excellent and was a lot of fun on the bus and the Duoro River cruise was enjoyable, just not what we booked.

Our guide Miguel was very informed. He answered all the questions. Our time was very great. There were only 6 of us. The train ride was short but the boat ride was spectacular. The lunch was great also. Very fresh food and Portuguese.

We signed up for a small group tour/mini van but it turned out to be a group of 18 people in at least a medium size van/bus.
When inquired about the switch, our tour guide, Giuseppe (spelling?), brushed it off as not surprising and it had happened before. Is this their “bait and switch” practice to charge us a higher price?
Giuseppe was friendly, helpful and informative. Patricia was an experienced driver and pleasant. The boat ride was quite nice. Maria, the host, on the boat was enthusiastic and eager to please everyone. Lunch was mediocre. We were seated in the upper floor, small, tight and very hot.
Giuseppe didn’t give us any time line at each stop and then would rushed everyone to get back to the bus.
We could have enjoyed this tour more had it not been the above reasons.

The Douro River boat & train ride was fantastic! A highlight of our trip for sure. Carlos was our guide. He was friendly and well informed about the area we were going to, from the valley to the cities we traveled through and the history of many parts. The sites were breathtaking! We visited the Croft Vineyard where we learned about the making of the wine and had a wonderful sampling of port wines to taste and enjoy as we overlooked the vineyard.
We then traveled by train for a short ride to the dock where we boarded the boat for a 1.5 hour ride on the water, all the while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the terraced vineyards, exchanging stories with other guests and listening to Carlos speak of the families and workers who owned and harvested the grapes. We finished up the tour with lunch at a nearby restaurant and headed back to our starting point. Carlos made the day most enjoyable for everyone (he even sang for us). I have already recommended this tour to a few of our friends and will remember it fondly always when we think of Portugal.

This was an all day trip. We left Porto at 8:20 AM and got back at 4 PM. Rita was our guide and driver and was very informative. pleasant and entertaining! We drove well over an hour into wine country and then visited a Port wine winery and did some tasting. The scenery is magnificent and the wine tasting experience was very educational. We then drove a bit more to a small community. Pinhao where we caught a regular commuter train for about a half hour train ride along the river. It’s a regular Portuguese railway train, but the cars are very vintage and fun to be in. We then returned to Pinhao on a fairly large pontoon boat with a very pleasant knowledgeable guide, which took about 90 minutes. Then we had a lovely lunch and a small restaurant and then another hour or so drive back. It was a wonderful experience, but would not t. Recommended for people who don’t like long drives through wind.y roads. Lots of fast highway driving going up and a lot of hairpin curves back. But what views!!! we were in a small group of seven with our guide. Highly recommend and would do it again..

This is a long day but fun and informative. The first quinto was so laid back and relaxed as we tatsed wines and port. Just wonderful . Had a great area for a 14 month old to run around without issue. Solar dos dragos.The second winery was Croft which is a big company in the port world. Learned a few things and tasted some port. Not as impressive as the first winery.
Next was lunch which was late and a bit confused i think due to waitstaff shortages but food was fine . Wine was fine and the port explanation and tasting was excellent. Quinto de Bejo was the last one. Driver was great and Sara was an excellent guide.

The tour group did a great job with giving us a taste of the Douro Valley. Sure, the bus ride was long but gave us lots to see along the way. The train ride was well worth the experience. A long trip (8h). Quite a lot of sitting in a car, but with stories about the region and it’s history. Douro valley is really beautiful and a must see place if visiting Porto. There was portwine tour and tasting and sparkling wine on the boat trip. Also wine with the food after the boat. So lot of drinking 😁
Honestly only ”problems” about the trip is the lack of general information and guidance.
We got to know the order of the day only at the car trip that took more than an hour (would’ve been nice to know so you can prepare bathroom and water vice)
It’s always nice to have surprises, but would be good to have some kind of schedule of events and what is included. There were a few of moments when we were feeling a bit unsure of if we are being taken care of or not (pick up at morning, who is going to take us on a tour in the vineyards and from where)
But overall really good experience and worth every penny!
