Itinerary

Meet a private driver/guide at the cruise terminal for departure (pickup is available at other locations at an additional cost), then travel to the first stop of the day, the nearby capital city of Valletta.

Explore the gorgeous city on foot, walking alongside your guide on a tour through the cobblestone streets of the UNESCO-listed city. One key stop on your tour is St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a Baroque masterpiece from the 16th century with works by Mattia Preti and Caravaggio. After visiting the cathedral, pause for lunch: meals are not included in this tour, but the guide can help you find the perfect place to eat.

Next, continue to the Hagar Qim Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site among the oldest known religious sites in the world. Find out what’s known, and what remains mysterious, about the Neolithic inhabitants of the island.

The last stop of the day is Mdina, a fortified city that ruled the island during medieval times. Stretch your legs on a walk through the narrow, winding streets of the city, visiting some of the historic architecture that remains from Mdina’s prosperous past. This full-day Malta tour concludes with drop-off at the original departure point.

Matthew did a wonderful job, taking us to the temples, Mdina and the highlights of Valletta. He is a true historian who loves his job. He has a vast knowledge of both present day Malta and the many layers of the country's past. This was a wonderful introduction to Malta and I know I'll be back to visit again.

Malta has such a rich long history that Mathew was a great help explaining it to us. He customized the tour just for us, we'd already seen the Neolithic village site. He was a nonstop fount of information, since it was Carnivale the streets were more confusing and crowded that usual, so again, having a guide really helped. I definitely recommend this tour.
