This tour took me down memory lane from 53 years ago. Our tour guide was beyond excellent. He truly has a passion for what he does. Not only did we see so many location from the movie we learned so much about the Von Trapp family and things behind the scenes when making the movie. A must tour for all ages.

Great tour

Easy to find directions for meeting place. Tour started on time, guide was very informative about what to expect and all historical aspects of the palace. Willing to answer random questions, pleasure to meet her, highly recommend as a guide. It was unfortunate that the palace was being set up for an event but that’s just the way it goes. Lovely photos in spite of this and a must see is the hilltop Gloriette. Stunning view of Vienna and you are rewarded with a cafe to rest after the hike up hillside

Even though it was raining and cloudy, there were no views to see it was a wonderful experience. So much history and Peter, our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. The stop and recommendations for lunch were excellent, wish we had more time to shop!

Relax and enjoy

The dress code is relaxed but clean ( no jeans) and a buttoned down shirt for the guys . The food is delicious and you are given about 1 hour and 30 minutes to eat it in . It’s very relaxed . You will do a lot of walking up stairs . The room is fantastic. You’re in a medieval fortress at the very top and the view is spectacular. You will be indoors as well when you are seated . The quartet is fabulous and plays for almost 2 hours , with a 15 minute break when you can grab a glass of wine or champagne. It is to be experienced. Enjoy it .

Worth the Quick Trip

I booked this in advance for my trip to Vienna. I only had a couple days in Vienna. This trip should not replace an actual trip to Hallstatt or Salzburg. This is really only for people in Vienna who have an extra day and want to see more of Austria. If you have an extra day to spare then I would say to add this to your itinerary. This is a great way to see Hallstatt and Salzburg real quick. After doing this trip I would definitely need to return back to these amazing places. To get a real sense of these places, you honestly could spend all day in each village on your own. This long day starts at 7:30am on the dot. You must check in prior so arrive like 15 minutes early. We get a bathroom break and then straight to Hallstatt. We only got around 2 hours to explore, including time to go to the bathroom and feed yourself and buy some souvenirs and take pictures. Like I said you could spend a whole day getting to know Hallstatt. Honestly, for our itinerary, I think this was pretty reasonable but definitely can feel rushed. Olga reminded us to take it all in though. Salzburg was a quick trip from Hallstatt. And same thing, very quick. About 2 hours to do things. They drop you off near some Sound of Music sights and have an option to a Salzburg/Beethoven walking tour. Got to take some quick pics and try some chocolate. This was an overall well worth it trip. I’d recommend booking if you have a day to spare and get those insta pics if you want haha. Also bring a handheld fan, gets hot on the bus.

Wine lovers-you must do this!

This was an amazing way to spend a late afternoon/early evening. The small group setting made it a really special evening! It was warm and welcoming! The wineries we visited were charming, and the wine was delicious! The dinner at the end of the tour was absolutely incredible! It was special to meet the owners of the wineries and hear their stories. Our guide/host Stephan was a pure joy! He made sure to explain points of interest along the way and he was really focused on making every guest feel comfortable and happy! He was the best!!!!!! Overall, this was a really special way to end my weeklong visit in Vienna. Great wine, great food, and making new friends from around the world! I highly recommend!!!

Do it!!

While this was a long day, it was really beautiful and so good to see Budapest and Bratislava. I think it’s a must do. Our guide, Danny, was so nice, accommodating and adorable!! Knowledgeable and funny. The van was comfortable and we were with since very nice people. Danny brought us to beautiful places and had interesting tidbits of info. Lots of free time to spend as we wished. Thank you Danny!!

This was the Quartet that played classical music, including Mozart, Beethoven, Hayden, and others. It was absolutely amazing. Very well organized. One of the highlights of our trip to Europe. You absolutely have to do this. You’ll be so glad you did. It was just enough time.

The guide was exceptional. He gave us a great talk on the way out with lots of historical and environmental facts. Who knew ‘salary’ originates from the first salt trading? Brilliant advice on how to get the most of our time there with a great walking route. We had time to take a boat on the lake for the best view of Hallstatt thanks to his guidance.
