Luis was fantastic! He took time to answer all of our questions, walked at a pace that was helpful to the older members of my family and cared for us every step along the way. We could not have asked for a better guide. Thank you for a fabulous time!

First... if you want to get a true visit of the Prada museum.... get Marta.. she is AMAZING... normally you would not get me thru the door without falling asleep.. she has opened our eyes to art and interpretation... she made this tour 5+. She is passionate about art and history and the city.. can’t say enough nice things about her.. she was the cherry on top of our visit to
Madrid... will be a return destination for sure!!!

Kristina was an incredible guide! Very engaging and did everything to help meet our needs.
Here’s my thoughts. The survey provided by the company was not helpful. Although I identified what I thought I wanted to see they were my available. I missed it was a walking tour. Somehow I thought would drive different sites and visit. I don’t think Christina was given our completed survey. I will say she did an excellent job of accommodating our wants and desires and still help us see important parts of Madrid. We loved what she showed us. Absolutely get this tour to schedule the afternoon with the guide at the Prado Museum. Our very thoughtful guide left us with directions as she was committed. We would have loved to continued with her. Please do this. There are so many incredible artists and stories to learn. You need a guide to help you navigate. This was great but I would have changed the few things I mentioned.

Communication was perfect. Avoid the large croud, and move at your own pace. Pedro, our guide, is awesome. He's so passionate about Madrid and all that is has to offer. Very knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and enthusiastic. We enjoyed our day in Madrid, and learned a great deal. We would highly recommend this tour.

Marta was absolutely lovely. I arrived running late and very Harries. She patiently helped me sort out some personal stuff and took me on an abbreviated (at my request) tour. She was very well informed and gave me some great tips for the rest of my stay. Would recommend her and the service to anyone and everyone!!

We had a great tour and our tour guide gave us the opportunity to do what we wanted which was walk and explore all of the different neighborhoods in Madrid. Our tour guide was very good and very excited to show us the different neighborhoods of her city. She was patient and let us stop to take photos and shop along the way while she explained some of the historical and current aspects of each neighborhood.

My mother and I really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Luis David Zapata Madronal was incredible. He planned the tour in such a cohesive, enjoyable way that we were able to absorb and understand all the information and really grasp the chronology of events. After 4 hours of walking we really had a good sense of the history of Madrid. We highly recommend this tour.

It is important to be really clear with your expectations up front, so that you get the maximum value from this tour. It is an excellent tour to get to know your areas of interest quickly. We were able to get to know the central areas of Madrid through this tour and so were able to plan the rest of our visit. Madrid is a city that needs to be walked to appreciate its architecture and history.

Our guide Pedro made this tour a memorable experience. We travelled through the back streets to find hidden plaques dedicated to Spain's famous writers and poets. Pedro described the differences in the buildings of Madrid, from the centuries old structures to the incredibly beautiful new buildings on the Gran Via, explaining how the architects designed the buildings to retain the flavour of the past. He took us inside buildings to view underground Roman structures that were clearly visible as you walked over the glass frames that protected them as if they were in a time capsule. His passion was obvious as he talked about a city that he loved.
This was a great way to understand more about Madrid, and we finished the tour with wonderful memories and knowledge that we would not have gained on our own.

Given our limited time in Madrid this custom half day walking tour was well worthwhile especially given the great 'local knowledge' of our guide, Ester. She did a good job of sourcing out the main sights we indicated that we wanted to see for example, Puerta del Sol, Calle de Postas, Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel, Almudena Cathedral, Royal Palace, Plaza de Oriente and Calle del Arenal and she explained the significance of each in just the right amount of detail so as to not overwhelm us with too much detail.

We had only 8 hours in Madrid, so we decided to book the 2 1/2 hour walking tour. We are so glad we did! Pedro showed us his Madrid that he loves so passionately. We love history and art, and Pedro is an art historian. He generously gave us over 3 hours of his time and showed us the highlights of the area bounded by Gran Via and Calle Mayor and the Palace and Paseo del Prado. There were many amazing moments on this completely enjoyable tour. Pedro was so warm and friendly and wonderful to be with. It was all that we hoped for and so much more!

Unfortunately we had to do the half-day tour due to time constraints but our guide was very knowledgeable. He even helped us arrange transportation around the city which is something he didn't have to do. We definitely recommend the tour especially if you are there for half a day like we were

I arranged this tour as our first activity in Madrid so we would then be familiarized with the city for our week long visit. Turns out to be one of the best Viator tours ever. It started as soon as I booked it about three months in advance when Karolina communicated by email to gather all necessary information to tailor the tour to us and our interests. She even went beyond and helped me obtain a Madrid Card for multiple sights when I was having difficulty buying it on line. She made me feel like I had a family member there helping out! Then came the tour itself. Luis David arrived at our apartment exactly on time and our education and entertainment began at once. His knowledge of his city was inexhaustible and he was prepared with countless pictures and visual aids on his iPad. He is a Madrideños but spoke nearly perfect English vocabulary and completely understandable accent. He introduced Madrid in a fascinating combination of chronological history coupled with a strolling tour of meaningful sights and contemporary customs. His assistance extended to marking up maps and making recommendations for meals at the end of our seven hours together which flew by because it was so interesting and fun. I know this tour is a little pricey, and I hesitated before booking, but let me tell you that it was worth every penny. We have already found ourselves better prepared to fully enjoy this rich city. The company, Discovery Walks, provides similar services in many other places and I plan to use them again and again. Thank you Karolina, Luis and your whole team.

To fully understand Madrid and its rich history, a walking tour is a must. Our guide, Enrique, was passionate and well versed in its steeped history. In the middle of the tour , we stopped at a tavern and enjoyed wine and tapas. That's where I learned that tapas are free in Madrid. This is not necessarily true in other parts of Spain. I truly left the tour with a deep understanding of this amazing city.

David was terrific. He was energetic, responsive to our questions and very knowledgeable. It was great that we were able to see the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum and many other sites during the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire day with him. The tour was pricy -- the only negative.

What a great day! Walked for 6 or so hours with time off for coffee, wine and a fabulous seafood lunch. Time flew and I can't believed I walked for so long! Didn't even notice! Enrique my guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Very educational tour of all major monuments and to many spots of the beaten track that were priceless! Very happy with the professionalism of Discovery Walks. They were in constant touch with me via email. Would happily recommend a private day tour with this company.

This is an expensive tour and the private car should have come equipped with bottled water and not require us to go to the local store to buy our own.

Our guide Luis David was awesome. It was like touring the city with a local friend. He even circled some spots on a map for us to visit later and gave us some restaurant suggestions.
This is the 2nd tour we've done with Discovery Walks, and both have been great. You answer some questions for them that helps them customize the tour for you.

Our tour guide Enrique was the perfect guide for us. He looked at our profile and asked questions. My husband is in the food and entertainment business and he got us into some kitchens to see the ovens and set up. Worth every penny - would do it again in a heart beat!
