We had booked this experience in advance and originally thought we would be off the ship at 8:30, but we got off much earlier. I called the number provided and they were able to get our driver Mohammad to arrive earlier than scheduled. Mohammed was an excellent driver and got us to Stonehenge right before opening, so we were first on the bus out to see Stonehenge. He allowed us 2 hours to view Stonehenge, visit gift shop and grab a snack. He was waiting right where he dropped us off, kept our luggage secure, then took us to our hotel close to Heathrow airport.

This particular tour is run by a company called “Cab my Ride“. I had numerous discussions with “Raza” prior to arriving in the UK. Raza was adamant that if we left London at 8:30 AM we would have more than enough time to visit Stonehenge as well as arrive in Southampton by 1:30 PM to board our cruise ship. We were outside our hotel by 8:20 AM to ensure that we would not be holding up our driver. Our driver did not appear until 9:10 AM with very little explanation as to why she was so late. By this time, I had called “Cab my Ride“ three times to find out where our driver was. I received zero explanation from them other than for them to say that she was on her way. We were staying at the Savoy Hotel and apparently, she did not even know how to access the front of the hotel without her speaking to one of the hotel doormen on my phone. At this point in time, her only explanation was that London is always busy with various road closures. That didn’t help us out a whole lot! If you work for a company that provides private transfers, one would think that you would plan ahead for situations that might arise. We paid £53.90 for our tickets to Stonehenge. We had been told by “Raza“ that we would have at least an hour and up to 2 hours at Stonehenge. As a result of our driver arriving so late, (whose name we were never told) we spent a grand total of perhaps 30 minutes at Stonehenge. This was not actually viewing time, as we had to stand in line to check in with our prepaid tickets and then stand in line again for roughly 10 - 15 minutes to wait for the shuttle bus that took us out to Stonehenge. We took a grand total of two pictures, turned around and got on the next shuttle bus back to the entrance. Once we got back to the main building, I then had to call the company once again to find out where our driver had parked because she failed to tell us where she would be other than “I’ll be around here“ when in fact, she was nowhere around “here“. Throughout the duration of our trip, our driver would often travel at speeds of up to 140 km/h. This was on one and two lane highways and caused her to brake consistently and quickly. Hopefully, we receive a refund from this company to cover the cost of our Stonehenge tickets, and they take the time to explain to their drivers that they should plan ahead and know what road closures are going on in the city. Out of all the times we have booked Viator for various tours in various countries we have never experienced a tour as bad as this one.

“Private Stonehenge Tour” is a misnomer; this is actually transportation from London to South Hampton with a stop in Stonehenge. The Stonehenge “tour” is not included; in fact, there is no guided tour and you must purchase your tickets independently to walk Stonehenge.. That said, our transportation was excellent: driver on timr, vehicle clean, safe driving, and pleasant conversation.

My driver, Ian, was a nice and friendly chap. Communication at pick up was great. We didn't stop at Stonehenge, and I'm not sure where the lines got crossed. So, my recommendation is to be very clear on selections on booking and when communicating with operator.

We hire a transportation for 8 people to the port, the driver was nice, but, the car was too old and too small, we didn't fit, we were going to take a cruise, so that means each person has a suitcase

We were exploring ways to get to our cruise ship in Southampton from London when I saw this one that made a stop at Stonehenge. Transport AND sightseeing, What a lovely idea!
Ihtisham was so accommodating. He didn’t bat an eye at our 8 suitcases. He was very considerate of our temperature needs and even worried if we were getting peckish. He let us set the pace of the trip. We even took the scenic route from Stonehenge to the ship when we realized we had plenty of time. The small little cottages were so quaint in the lovely little villages. Excellent experience.

This is a transfer from the airport to the ship with a stop at Stonehenge
The driver is very safe and friendly. During the drive, you will not get much information about Stonehenge. That information will come on you buy your tickets and go into the historic site.

This is a great way to experience Stonehenge and accomplish a cruise transfer between London and Southampton at about the price of a transfer alone.. The driver was early on the pickup which was fine with us. He was courteous and accommodating and even helped us save on the unexpected admission cost at Stonehenge. That brings me to why 4 and not 5 stars. The description on Viator was incorrect and incomplete. The vehicle was smaller than the word comfortable implies and there was no wi-fi offered. Tickets for Stonehenge are £ 34.00 per person and are not included. This should be stated clearly in the description . Granted there is a fees&taxes line under not-included which is at best inadequate. There should be a detailed explanation of the price of admission, how to purchase it in advance and of course that it is not included.

Driver showed up 30 minutes late in a different vehicle than described here (barely fit our luggage) and then refused to load luggage. When I contacted tour company they said that the regular driver called off and they had to find another driver from a different company to do it. I understand those things can happen but this should be a lesson to have a better plan in place. The replacement driver was late and quite rude. I did complain through Viator and I was refunded a partial amount. I’m sure this is not the normal experience but unfortunately this was our experience.

Our driver Ian was terrific. We had lovely conversation the whole trip down. He was prompt and communicated well about arrival and meeting back up at Stonehenge. He brought water, an umbrella and took snapshots for us as well.
He handled the car beautifully and I felt safe with him behind the wheel in both heavy traffic and on narrow country roads.

While the ride was efficient and the driver was polite, it wasn’t very comfortable and certainly no small talk or anything from the driver whatsoever.
Picked up from our London hotel promptly, and we got there fine, appreciated them waiting as long as we wanted while in Stonehenge, but we expected some sort of engagement from the driver during the journey as others noted in their reviews - frankly that’s why we selected this one. Certainly less than what we expected based on past Viator tours!!

Our driver Gregory was excellent. Showed up early and was very friendly. Car ride was very comfortable, and we got to spend enough time at Stonehenge and arrived at the seaport with plenty of time to spare. The driver was great. The only issue we had was the size of the vehicle given how many bags we had. Our driver did a phenomenal job of making the bags fit so they didn’t have to send for another car.

Communication with the tour company was sorely lacking. The estimated time of arrival they gave us was for 45 minutes after the time we had asked for. The driver then contacted me about 30 minutes after the original time wondering where we were. Unfortunately my messages to the tour company went unanswered, so I have no way of knowing whether he actually showed up on time or not.
The ride to Stonehenge was fine, and I was thankful we had booked the tour rather than contracting a ride straight to London.
Traffic from Stonehenge to London was horrendous (obviously not the tour’s fault), and the driving was not what you would call “smooth.” Worse was waking up after nodding off for a bit and realizing that the driver was watching YouTube on his phone while driving!
I’m not sure I would contract with this company again based on the experience I had with this particular driver.

A great way to do a cruise to airport transfer and sneak in another attraction at the same time. Our driver Ian was super-friendly and helpful. He picked us up at the cruise terminal, dropped us off right at the Stonehenge welcome center, gave us as much time as we needed to look around - and then picked us up at the same spot to take us to the front door of our airport hotel. Would definitely go this route again if we had the time and it was offered by the tranfer company. Thanks Ian!

We were very disappointed in this tour as we weren’t told that Stonehenge didn’t open until 9:30am and since we were picked up from our cruise ship at 7:00am (that part went smoothly), we got to Stonehenge way too early before it opened and were not able to get in. Our driver did try to accommodate us and took us to get a bite to eat at the nearest town then went back to Stonehenge, but by the time it opened we only had 30 minutes allowed to see it as our driver had another job to do back in London, so it wasn’t feasible.

We're genuinely sorry to hear the timing of your visit to Stonehenge didn’t meet expectations. Our goal is always to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience, and while we’re pleased to hear your driver was accommodating, we understand your disappointment around the early arrival.
Just to clarify for future travellers — Stonehenge’s opening times are set by English Heritage, and we do advise booking tours that align with site access hours. In this case, the 7:00am pickup was selected at the time of booking, and unfortunately that arrival time was simply too early for entry.
That said, we’ll review how we communicate this better at the point of booking to avoid similar issues.
We do hope you'll travel with us again, and we’d love the opportunity to give you the full experience next time.
