It was the absolute best tour I've ever had. Obi gave us a history cultural tour along with a hot food tour. It was like being with family. We ate, laughed, and fellowshiped. My son and loved the tour so much, we immediately book another one right afterwards. If you're ever in London, book the tour!! You won't regret it. My only regret is that it didn't last longer. I would definitely pay for a full day tour with Obi.

This was the highlight of our trip to London! I highly recommend this experience for a little history with amazing food! Obi was an exemplary guide!

This was an amazing experience. Courtney was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, passionate and caring. The tour ran smoothly and each stop had some of the most delicious Caribbean and African in Brixton. Each of us on the tour felt taken care of and we even created a bond within the group. 10/10

I was looking forward to exploring a new-to-me neighborhood in London and trying different foods, and I got much much more! Not only did I try some incredible, flavorful food, but I also met great people, and learned a great deal of Black London history that I did not know before. Obi is a truly exceptional tour leader. He makes the effort to engage participants while taking us to Black owned businesses in Brixton, which is quickly becoming gentrified. It was great learning about which businesses are still locally owned and trying their foods. The flavors were phenomenal! When I head back home to The Bay Area, I need to find authentic places that make Jamaican patties and Nigerian Jollof rice! Those two foods were my favorite. The tour ends with a family style meal while sharing stories. Thank you to Obi for a wonderful afternoon in Brixton!

Brixton Market Tour with African and Caribbean cuisine was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. My parents and I enjoyed every moment not only because the food was incredible, but because the entire experience felt so authentic and personal. Obi’s deep connection to the neighborhood brought Brixton’s history and culture to life in such a meaningful way. It was immediately clear that he is a true local, and what made the experience especially memorable was how genuinely passionate he is about sharing it with others.
His love for Brixton, its people, and its history came through in every story he told. Nothing felt rehearsed or scripted. Instead, it felt like exploring the neighborhood with a friend who truly cares about the community and wants you to experience it beyond the surface.
Each stop introduced us to amazing flavors and local favorites while also giving us insight into the traditions and communities that have shaped Brixton over the years. Obi created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that the entire tour felt incredibly special and immersive. We left full, inspired, and with a much deeper appreciation for Brixton’s vibrant cultural identity.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable, heartfelt, and truly authentic experience in London!

This tour was amazing and you will not regret booking it. Obie was an amazing tour guide. He was so informative, extremely organized and his tour was well planned and well thought out. He is excellent at what he does. The food was delicious! If you have food, allergies, or food restrictions, such as vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, etc. make sure to let him know in advance by messaging him after you book. He can accommodate any of your food restrictions or any of your food needs. But you just need to let him know before the tour, so he can make arrangements. We did not realize that we should have notified him in advance, and he was still so gracious and willing to make accommodations for us, even though we told him at the last minute. So definitely give him a heads up. He can make it happen to suit your restrictions. I would recommend this for anyone traveling to London. It was such a great way to see another side of London that is just as amazing and exciting and informative, that you don’t always get to see. I would highly recommend this. I give this tour a rating of 10 out of 10 hands-down. I would recommend this to all of my family and friends.

This was our second time taking the Brixton Market Tour (as it is that rich of an experience). Obi and his team continue to unveil Black excellence, community, culture, and cuisine in a way that wraps you in the warmest Black embrace. We returned on this tour for our birthdays and Obi made it beyond special with cupcakes and candles as we welcomed a new year around the sun; which made this second experience and journey that much more community and belonging centered across the diaspora. Shout out to Nat and Courtney as well for their support, storytelling, hospitality, and warmth. 15 out of 10 recommend!

An unforgettable experience! The food was incredible (especially the beef patties 🔥,) the stories behind each stop were rich with history, and our guide made the culture come alive. I left full, inspired, and more connected to the place than ever. Highly recommend!

This is an amazing food tour that I would recommend to anyone who loves food and history. Obi was an interesting and fun guide who took us to many great food places and told us all about the history of Brixton. There was a great selection of food and loads of it, you definitely won’t leave hungry. This is definitely a trip you don’t want to miss.

Obi was a great tour guide. He was punctual, passionate, and a great teacher. I will always remember this experience.

A one of a kind, must do, food and history tour in Brixton. Obi is the perfect person to lead this tour. He knows so much about the history of the food and the area first hand. One of the best tours we experienced during our two week visit of London. Highly recommend

This was a great experience. I traveled solo for my birthday and decided to do a one of a kind culinary experience catering to the African American culture in Brixton. I was even surprised with a birthday cake! I meet other travelers that were great company and the host is extraordinary! Make sure you book when you visit London!

I visited London for the day during my recent trip to Paris with my teenage daughters. I had visited Brixton once wanted my girls to have the opportunity to see, learn and taste some of the black history of the area. I couldn’t have imagined that this tour with Obi would be such an amazing experience for us all. The time, attention to detail, logistical planning and love Obi pours into this experience is apparent and appreciated. It felt like our group of 8 became family by the time we ended. We hugged them all! The food was amazing. Every bite! And the 3 hours just flew by. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Teenage girls are notoriously hard to please. They both rated this tour as the highlight of their trip! Thank you Obi and long live the real Brixton!

Fabulous experience. Obi curates a wonderful experience that provides a wonderful historical perspective of Brixton that provides a London tour off the beaten path.
The tour was the highlight of our trip.

This was by far the best outing I had whilie visiting London. Obi served as a personal guide through the streets of Brixton sharing its history and the contributions of the Carribbean and African population that has allowed it to grow. If your that individual that likes to get the history of the country you are visiting and eat good food then this is the outing for you. Also if you are a child of the 80s and listened to the song Electric Avenue you get to see where the music video was made.

Walking the market, eating tasty foods and learning about the history of Brixton along the way- how can you go wrong! Obi was very friendly and very knowledgeable. He spoke with fondness of the place he grew up. I would highly recommend this cultural tour.
Valentine_W, Jul 2025
Love this tour!!! It was amazing and the food Obi is very knowledgeable! I highly recommend, I’m very picky and enjoyed all the food I ate and tried. Do not eat before the tour!
Daryl_H, Jul 2025
This tour with Obi was a great tour where we had the opportunity to learn about Brixton’s rich history and culture.
Tierra_W, Jun 2025
Obi gave so much passion and love with this tour. You can tell he genuinely loves his neighborhood and educating everyone about the history and how the neighborhood became to be! He was very patient and accommodating. He even gave personalized thank you cards to everyone who booked the tour. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to try something different and learn about the Afro-Caribbean influence in London.
Eric_Q, Jun 2025
The food on this tour was amazing! The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the Brixton neighborhood and offered a local perspective of the history and culture of the area. This tour is a must-do for anyone coming to London.
Red_F, May 2025
I read tons of great reviews about this tour, and I can confidently say it’s absolutely worth the hype. Obi is incredibly personable—you instantly feel like you’ve known him forever. He gives off the vibe of your favorite cool cousin, and he guessed my name before I even had a chance to look for him, which was such a fun and surprising touch that reinforced that feeling.
The advice to come hungry is no joke—we were struggling (in the best way) by the end from all the delicious food! The meetup spot is conveniently located right across the street from the subway, which made it super easy to find.
Each stop on the tour was better than the last. Obi is an amazing storyteller, seamlessly blending personal anecdotes with rich historical context. What he’s doing to support and spotlight small Black-owned businesses is inspiring and important.
Honestly, this might be the best tour I’ve taken in all my travels. Do yourself a favor—BOOK IT!

This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to London! I had asked for vegetarian options, and Obi was very accommodating. We tasted a wide variety of delicious foods, and I never felt like I was missing out. (The veggie patty, in particular, was incredible! I'd had patties before, but never like this.)
Aside from the food, Obi himself was so engaging and friendly and has a real gift for teaching and storytelling. He told us about the history of Brixton with humor, nuance, and lots of details about his own family's personal connection to the community. We've been on lots of food tours before, but this one was really special.
If you're looking to book and/or browse other offerings directly, I believe you can do that at thisisgorgeous.com.

Stop reading….and BOOK THIS TOUR! Obi was a walking history book and provided us with hands down THE BEST food in Brixton. The way Obi layered in food and history was simply brilliant. I was traveling with 2 kids and Obi kept them engaged as well. This was the best thing we did while visiting London.
Eva_K, Mar 2025
This tour was the highlight of my birthday trip to London. I am such a history buff and the history of Brixton is so rich! Obi has done an AMAZING job of providing the history of Brixton. Make that you are hungry when doing this tour because Obi will make sure you are well fed!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to spend time you.

The Brixton Market with African and Caribbean Cuisine Tour is an absolute must! I thoroughly read reviews prior to booking, so I had high expectations. This experience exceeded that! Communication about the tour, meeting point, weather/attire, etc. was 10/10. The food portions were more generous than what I’ve experienced on other food tours. Obi, the tour operator, is quite detail oriented. I and another person in my tour group happened to both be celebrating birthdays, which Obi did not know prior to our meeting, yet he somehow managed to produce candle lit cake for both of us at the end of the tour!!
The passion, knowledge, and lived experience that Obi has, catapults this from a great food tour into the realm of a moving cultural experience. I love having new experiences during my travels, but whenever I return to London, I will be sure to book a tour with Obi. Bravo, Sir, and thank you for giving of yourself, in this special way, to us travelers.

I cannot stress enough how wonderful this tour was. It was extremely easy to get to and access the meeting point. Our guide, Obi, was so funny, kind, and passionate about the community; there is really no better person to give the tour. Brixton has a super rich history and Obi is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its origins. The Afro-Caribbean influence and community there is so strongly rooted and honestly so welcoming! Every single vendor we ate from or even spoke to was incredibly kind and generous. The food was absurdly delicious, and you really get your money’s worth and then some! I was in London for a week sightseeing and touristing about town and this was easily my favorite part of my trip. Please please please do yourself a favor and book this tour; spend some time with Obi, meet some locals and eat an exorbitant amount of food! You won’t regret it.

Without a doubt a highlight of my trip to London. Rich history. Delicious food. Fun and amazing company. Obi is such a great guide, in addition to being a kind soul who made us all feel welcome. Highly recommend!

First off: 100/10 would do it again!
I knew I wanted to do a food market tour when I was in London, but I didn't want to do one surrounded by influencers with food that wasn't worth the price. I also wanted a food tour that was going to show me a part of London that the influencers wouldn't show you. So when I found a food tour that was in Brixton, I had to check it out!
Obi is the top tier guide! You know you're on a good tour when the guide is from the neighbourhood--when they can give you history that you wouldn't necessarily get in a textbook or news article. Obi was so kind to give us stories from his life (still wish we could've seen your mom!) and painted a picture of everything that Brixton has gone through to be where it is today.
Obi also made sure to take us to the best food spots. The amount of flavour and satisfaction you'll get with each bite can't be fully expressed. It was just enough food to keep you full by the end. Everything was eaten in gusto, and made you understand a little more of the culture that has thrived in Brixton. I'm still dreaming of that seafood curry and the puff puffs.
What I liked the best was that Obi made the tour feel like a connection. We were able to sit down and actually chat with each other, learn about each other, and share stories. I always appreciate a small group setting because it allows for an appreciation of the experience and also solidifying the memory.
I highly HIGHLY recommend doing this food tour with Obi. You're certainly getting your money's worth, but also leaving with a highlight memory. Check it out!

Obi was a fantastic guide, taking the small group I joined with around the Brixton market in a thoughtful and engaging way. Despite the rain, I had a delightful time, ate more than enough food, and learned so much about the historical significance of the market's African and Caribbean cuisine. Even on a group tour, he provided a top-notch personalized experience.
