Tour bust in the Borough

I was between a two and three rating here but read on and decide for yourself. We started late which was fine, but it definitely got more crowded by the minute. I was hoping for a lot more from this tour based off the reviews and description about learning about the vendors / food sourcing but this tour with George? Fell a bit flat. I was hoping there’d be inquiries into what kind of food we were interested in and more about the diff stalls and vendors but it was a standard fare of 4 items and 2 pub stops. We never even learned the name of the 3rd food vendor. Sausage roll (great), fish and chips (fine), Mediterranean fare (prefer to save space) and humble and crumble (fine but I’d skip for something else). I was hoping for paella, pork sandwiches, chocolate strawberries and creme brûlée doughnuts but those can wait for another trip. George had good knowledge for sites but I would have preferred to hear more about the market and vendors or even vendors we didn’t eat at as in what else to try on a different day. A little overpriced for what it was. Also it feels like there could be a better relationship with the food vendors to avoid the line waits. I’d suggest a diff guide based on the reviews who feel like read their audience or try another tour.

To give a bit of context for future readers: this was a small-group, join-in tour, which follows a set route of carefully chosen vendors. We want to highlight some of the incredible independent vendors that you might otherwise miss as we move through the market together. This structure allows us to keep things running smoothly for everyone in the group, but it does mean we can’t fully tailor the stops to individual preferences in the way we can on a private tour. The items you mentioned wanting to try—such as paella and chocolate strawberries—are very popular with many tourists and easy to find on your own, which is why we focus our tours on vendors that are a little harder to discover and that we feel really showcase the depth and quality of Borough Market. We’re always happy to point guests toward other must-try spots at the end of the tour. I’d like to apologise for the delayed start to your tour. This was due to an unexpected issue with another guest, and while we do everything we can to start on time, we missed the mark on this occasion. The knock-on effect was a busier market atmosphere, and as a small thank-you for your patience we asked your guide, George, to include an extra pub stop. We’re sorry if that wasn’t what you were hoping for. Your feedback about wanting more storytelling around the vendors, sourcing, and even stalls you didn’t eat at is something we’ll be reinforcing with our team. We’ll be doing an extra training session this week as we always want to showcase the incredible stories behind our vendors and for whatever reason it appears we fell short on your tour. So thank you for bringing this to my attention. We’re very proud of all of our vendors so telling their stories is a must. Less intimidating with a guide

Having a guided tour of Borough Market was much less chaotic. If we went alone we would have walked through trying to guess what the best food was and just left. It was so nice to eat from all different kinds of stands, learn about the history of the Market and London, and feel full at the end. Well worth it to have a guide if you really want to experience the best of the market!

This tour with Sofia was great! She was knowledgable, fun, and did a great job adapting to the needs of our group. She knew the ins and outs of Borough Market, and showed us the highlights of the market and the area. The food she selected for us was excellent - we had trouble choosing our favorite at the end of the tour! We left the tour feeling full, and having had a great time, thanks to Sofia!
