Meeting time move 2.5 ahead to 3:30am but I didn’t know

    Dawn_S, Sep 2025
I’m sure it could have been a great experience had the company not changed to meeting time 12.5 before to 3:30am only for me to find out at 6:20, 20 minutes after my expected departure time. This was the only reason I traveled to Krakow. Great city but a colossal waste of my money. Need to contact Viator for a full refund but I am still traveling.

    Beyond belief

I’d recommend a visit to Auschwitz, but would advise to research how you do this carefully. I thought I was purchasing a guided trip including coach transfers and English guide to take us around Auschwitz, this wasn’t the case. We booked a 9am pickup, with less than 24 hrs notice this was brought forward to 3AM, an option to cancel was given but as our stay in Krakow was only for the weekend we had to accept or not visit Auschwitz at all. The coach departed on time at 3am arriving at Auschwitz at 4am. We were asked to get off the coach and take all belongings, the coach left, in disbelief we asked what was happening? We were told we had a 2 and a half hour wait until the gates opened at 6.30am but good news there was only 21 people ahead of us in the queue! Fortunately it was dry and mild, we sat on the pavement with no access to toilet facilities. At 6.30am we gained access onto site but then had to queue another hour for the ticket office to open, we were allowed to go in small groups to toilet and cafe so as not to lose place in queue. When ticket office opened we were given cash to purchase the tickets, fortunately we got an 8.30am English tour. Tour lasts 3.5hrs when we met up with our host again. We were not provided with a return coach, he had booked us on a public flixbus back to krakow dropping us at the bus station. It appears the Auschwitz museum does not sell tickets to these tours, so there is great competition between them as to who can get there first to be first in line. As for lack of coach being provided for day I didn’t see this happening with other groups, it would’ve been a little better if we’d been able to stay on coach and sleep until 6.30! In summary I’d look at booking directly with Auschwitz museum and avoid these trips.

    Pick up time was changed...

    Lorna_A, Sep 2025
Pick up time was changed from 09.00 to 04.00 the day before, so we decided to cancel as we didn't want to get up in the middle ofcthe night.

Wouldn’t of booked if I knew the real time tour started

    Erik_K, Sep 2025
Tours was scheduled for a 9:00 am pick up from hotel. I get a call at 6:00 pm the night before saying they would be at my hotel at 6:15 am. Already had late dinner reservations and breakfast reservations that were prepaid at the hotel. Completely ruined my plans. Site says tour time might change, after talking to concierge at hotel I was informed that its more than a chance your tour will be way early than expected. Seems the site says 9:00 because nobody would book a tour with 6:15 Am pickup. Many good reviews on site, on my end it was a complete waste of time and money. No cancelation policy because everyone would cancel. Book at you own risk

This tour operator should be ashamed.

    John_L, Aug 2025
This tour was a disaster from start to finish. The company changed times with little to no explanation, leaving everyone confused. Our tour leader was unhelpful and provided no genuine guidance or clear instructions throughout the day as to why things went so wrong for the group. Despite advertising that entry was arranged, we ended up standing in line for hours in the general walk up ticket line. while other organized groups went straight in. There was no communication, no plan, and no effort to resolve the issues. I trusted the 4.9 review stars on this tour and fell for it. I suspect many of the reviews are bought and paid for. Once we were dumped into the line for 2.5 hours, it was another 3 hour wait before we could enter. From the start of the experience (5am), it was 7.5 hours until we entered the memorial. Krakow is only 1.25 minutes from Auschwitz. Our tour leader gleefully suggested that we visit her friend’s restaurant during the 3 hour wait after we got our tickets. Do not trust Discover Cracow. They offered no remedy and no support. I’m in the process of filing a chargeback on my credit card due to this shady provider. Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau is an incredibly important and solemn experience, and it deserves to be handled with professionalism and respect. Discover Cracow failed on every level. I would strongly recommend booking with another operator.

John was a great guide, really knowledgeable about both the camps we visited. There was great detail shared, that really brought the exhibition to life, beyond what you get on standard tours. The whole trip ran very smoothly, from pick up first thing all the way through the day. WhatsApp communication with Discover Cracow before the trip and with John on the day.

Booked the tour, but the pickup never arrived. The operator claims to "have no information" about my booking. At least Viator gave me refund.

    An outright scam. Disgraceful.

    Oliver_H, Jul 2025
We arrived 20 minutes ahead of our booked and CONFIRMED 07.55 trip (the Viator platform said ”confirmed” all day), stood and waited in the rain for a good while before finally calling the support. A disrespectful man simply told me ”you were rescheduled to 05.30, we emailed and called you yesterday”, which was a complete lie. He also said that we agreed to accept rescheduling when buying the tickets and that a refund is very unlikely – a textbook legal (yet borderline criminal) fine print tourist scam. He also said that there were no more available slots today and wanted to sell us another trip for the next day. We of course didn’t fall for this scam a second time, and instead called directly to the Auschwitz museum. They almost laughed. Because the thing is, you can just book an Uber and go there yourself, and English guided tours are starting every 15 minutes. We waited 2 minutes in line at 11 am after being dropped off by our Uber driver. We heard similar stories from other tourists, with departures being ”rescheduled” to 04:00 last minute. The museum doesn’t even open until 07.30… The tour and transport packages sold and accommodated by companies like Viator and Discover Poland is an outright scam. If you have a trip like this booked, cancel it immediately and simply book an Uber and buy tickets at the reception. It’s cheaper, a lot less risky and you don’t support these scam companies. If this was an honest mistake, my refund would have been confirmed a long time ago. My guess is I’ll never see those $200 again. Especially after this review. Thanks for almost ruining our trip.

    Historic place poor guide

    Dave_P, Oct 2024
I thought the guide on the tour kept saying the same information at both sites and didn’t give anymore information then what was on the displays At the second camp the time was cut short due to times so only saw half the camp which was very disappointing. As this seemed to have more about it in character and feel. But overall we were pleased to visited this historic place

    Response from Host, Oct 2024

Dear Dave, Thank you for sharing your feedback about the tour. We are glad that you had the opportunity to visit this historic site, although we are sorry to hear that certain aspects did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the guides at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum are assigned directly by the museum, and unfortunately, we have no control over the information provided during the tour. Additionally, the duration of the tour may vary depending on the guide, and in exceptional circumstances, the visit may be shortened, which could have been the case during your experience. Nevertheless, we hope that your visit left a lasting impression and an understanding of this important history. Thank you for your honesty, and we hope to offer you an even better experience in the future. Kind regards

    Very informative

    Bethany_b, Aug 2024
We went on a very hot day and we weren’t expecting the amount of walking!! Aside from that it was a very emotional but informative trip. The guide was very knowledgable and was happy to answer any questions. The sites are definitely worth a visit and they really make you think about what happened and how people suffered. Some people on the tour were disrespectful, taking selfies and posing for photos, when the guide specifically said not too, but other than that we had no complaints.

    Response from Host, Oct 2024

Dear Bethany, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad to hear that you found the trip both emotional and informative. It’s essential to reflect on the history of these sites, and we appreciate your acknowledgment of our guide's knowledge and willingness to answer questions. We understand that the walking can be challenging, especially on hot days, and we appreciate your feedback regarding this aspect. We also share your concern about the behavior of some tour members and will emphasize the importance of respectful conduct during these significant visits in future tours. Thank you for your insights, and we hope to welcome you back for another meaningful experience in the future. Best regards

    Well worth the money

Amazing tour guide so friendly & good English, with good sense of humour! Defo tell friends well worth the money

    Truly heart wrenching

    Jon_T, Jul 2024
Everyone should visit - to remember what happened in Europe not so long ago. It is the most humbling experience of my life.

Overall a good experience, a few improvements to make the trip better…

    Lila_C, May 2024
Auschwitz itself was worth every minute, a highly emotive and powerful place to visit and would recommend everyone visiting to learn about the history whilst in Poland! The tour itself was not the best I’ve experienced, it was rushed, the staff at pick up although was friendly did not explain much to us throughout the day and were not given more than 1 toilet break in 5.5 hours, no lunch break, to the point that a lady on our tour became unwell due to lack of breaks and lack of facilities / no time to use facilities. It would be useful to explain to bring lunch with you / enough snacks for the day. Explain the 1.5 hour coach journey each way and the 10 mins between each site. Also advise people to bring appropriate walking shoes and explain lengthy walking and how most of tour is outside so that people can dress appropriately and bring sunhats etc. Overall I was pleased with price to visit Auchwitz however breaks and facilities are needed as we all needed food and drinks and were hungry and dehydrated by the end.

    Worst Tour operator at Auschwitz

    Andy_B, Oct 2023
The tour company never turned up, was left waiting around for 45 mins. Had to re book with a different provider and also re schedule transport. Absolute joke of a company. Do not use

    Response from Host, Oct 2024

Dear Andy, Thank you for sharing your experience, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced. It’s unacceptable that our team did not show up, leaving you waiting for 45 minutes. We understand how frustrating this situation must have been, especially when you had to rebook with another provider. Please know that we take this feedback seriously and will be investigating the matter to ensure this does not happen in the future. We appreciate your patience and understanding. If there's anything we can do to address your concerns further, please feel free to reach out. Best regards,

We received our tour from Paulina who was just absolutely knowledgeable and friendly. She really knew the history of the area and had a passion for what she does. Can't say enough good things about our experience with her. We learned a lot. Thank you!
