Andreas gave a wonderful tour through the Buda district, blending history details, humor and some personal favorite places. There were spots that he showed us that I did not read about in a travel book and would have missed (ie., the nuclear bunker used as a hospital). Andreas clearly knows the history of his country and is passionate about sharing it with us.

Sofia was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and answered many questions from all historical times. We were very impressed with her knowledge on the history of Budapest. There is an incline in the beginning of the tour, with many steps, but once on the hill it is relatively flat. We covered the entire Castle Hill area. We left with a good understanding on the history of Buda and many interesting facts. A very good experience. I would highly recommend.

It was good but an opportunity to enter castle or churches would’ve made it more interesting. Not suitable for elderly due to the number of uphill steps. My mum is a fairly fit 83 year old but she found it difficult walking up to the castle as it’s uphill and lots of steps.

Regarding the uphill walk and steps: in the tour description and itinerary, we do clearly mention that the Castle District route includes stairs and uphill sections and can be physically demanding. We always recommend comfortable shoes and advise guests with mobility concerns to consider this before booking. That said, we completely understand that even well-prepared guests — especially elderly visitors — may find the climb challenging, and we truly admire your mum for taking it on at 83!
As for entering the castle or churches, our tours operate on a tip-based model, which means we cannot include interiors that require admission fees. If we did, the tour would need to be fixed-price rather than donation-based. However, our guides always provide information about what can be seen inside and how to visit independently afterward.

Tour guide asks for tips for her pay.There are lots of stairs on any Budapest walking tour. Wear good shoes. Hungarian is very interesting and complicated. Lots of construction in the Castle district.

While this can occasionally affect views or access, it is part of a long-term effort to maintain the district’s architectural heritage.

WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! It was probably 18 degrees Fahrenheit (so -7 Celsius?) and WINDY AF!!!!!!!! And Dora our tour guide made this entire 2 hour tour FLY BY and SUCH an enjoyable learning experience! She kept it moving, kept us learning, and kept it all fun and intriguing throughout the cold and climbing of steps lol DEFINITELY do this such a priceless experience

Our walking tour of Budapest Castle was a bit of a mixed bag. Our guide, Andy, was undoubtedly knowledgeable, but his delivery was a little dry, bordering on monotonous. On a sweltering hot day, his droning voice didn't do much to hold the group's attention. We also found the area around Fisherman's Bastion to be incredibly crowded, which made it difficult to fully appreciate the views.
We were so underwhelmed by the tour's lack of engagement that we decided to leave before reaching the main castle area, as we had already explored it the night before on a more enjoyable tour. While Fisherman's Bastion was beautiful, the overall experience was disappointing, and we wished we had a more dynamic guide.

Lovely experience. There are flights of stairs to climb so if you have some movement difficulties you may have a rethink. It's not wheelchair accessible as well just so you know.

Dora led us to many places in this 2 hour tour, showing us the “Buda” side of Budapest. The only thing that could have been improved was time spent at the castle. It felt a tad rushed. It would have been more productive if we had time for some photos seeing as though the views are world class. Outside of this, Dora’s knowledge and enthusiasm was spot on.
