This was such a fun...

KeriAnn_C, Apr 2026
This was such a fun experience. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable about ancient Greek and Roman fighting styles and armor. He was also very attuned to our children's (ages 6 and 9) short attention spans and kept the session fun and engaging. He had swords and shields for the little ones so that they can fully participate. He took lots of pictures and videos for us and was overall a very pleasant person. This was the highlight of our trip.

History + LARP Training

We had so much fun with this experience! Between all the museums and archaeological sites of Athens, this activity allowed us (adults in our 30s) to be outdoors and sneak in a workout while also learning in an interactive way. Our instructor's passion for history and martial arts was infectious. In the two (2) hours, we got a mini-lecture on Greek martial history, armor, and battle tactics, followed by hands on training with spears, shields, and swords as well as an introduction to wrestling and boxing. As a teacher, Gregorios was mindful of our learning and physical differences, adapting his instructions and our equipment as needed. He answered every question we had about Greek history and brought along visual aids. If you can, give it a go!

Great history lesson and fun for the kids

Gregory is so knowledgeable about the history of Athens and its importance in world history. Part of that was how the Athenians managed to triumph in battles against the odds. My 9 year old son and I were in Athens for a long weekend and this was a fun add on experience to tours of the Acropolis and the museum. You meet close to the Acropolis and walk to a local park where Gregory brings history alive. I learnt so much. Fun for mini historians! Also, I messed up our original booking by travelling to completely the wrong meet up point on the other side of Athens - but Gregory was very kind and rebooked us. For the record, this is a central Athens activity! Close to the Temple of Hephaestus etc.

Great experience

Fun, Affordable, and Unique

Our family with 3 young children sincerely enjoyed this. Greg is great with kids and tries his best to keep everyone involved - even an aloof 10 year old girl that has zero interest in Greek Warriors. Overall the experience is a nice history lesson in disguise and was quite fun. Also gets high marks for being a good value.

Marvelous!

It was amazing! We had a lot of fun learning about Spartan battle techniques and then trying them out on each other!

Awesome experience, highly recommended!

Not only do you get to enjoy a pleasant walk up Philopappos Hill and take in the views of the Acropolis, you get to learn about Greek history and have a go at role playing the part of an ancient Greek soldier! It was a fascinating insight into the different battle strategies between the all conquering Persian empire and the defiant Greeks who were completely outnumbered, but not outsmarted. You get to try out some of the techniques employed using wooden replicas of shields and spears which was fun. Gregory the tour guide, was brilliant as firstly, he was very passionate and enthusiastic, and secondly, he didn't mind doing a one-to-one session with me as no one else had booked at the time I did, which was awesome!
