At every stop we were greeted and helped. We knew where we were at all times. The guides even pulled us into the shade to stay cool. We were told when the next bus was arriving. All guides and drivers were polite and helpful.

A brilliant way to see all the main attractions in Athens, at your leisure. We booked tickets for the day we disembarked from our cruise, and did 2 of the 3 routes, stopping off at sites we wanted to look at in more detail. Great open topped buses, and fab narration. Would highly recommend!

Bus tour was a great way to travel around the city and choose which stops you get off at! Figured out you could track the buses midway through the tour which made it easier to know when to wait at each stop & not be in the sun for ages! The top section had a covered shaded roof which others don’t making it cool but can still see all the attraction! Would recommend 🌟

Try the cheaper bus companies

We had to wait for an hour to get back to port at 1pm. They give you bad information about when you get off for the Acropolis. The other cheaper buses are just as regular and not as busy. Some of the seats weren’t available so we had to sit upstairs in the Athens sun and got sunburnt. Wouldn’t recommend.

Great option to see the city highlights. Good value for the price. 2 full hours to ride the full loop. Sit up top for the best views. Avoid sitting by the edge as you will be hit by the passing trees (be aware you will be ducking to avoid)

The bus trip around the city was good. That said depending on the traffic conditions the full circuit can take upwards of 2 to 2.5 hours. The circuit does include most of the high lights of central Athens on the Athens line.

There are many languages to choose from when they give you the ear phones. Historical facts were interesting Lots of stops. Sometimes it was not reliably on time. Some of the employees were incredibly friendly and helpful while others seemed annoyed. If you’re working with the public you should be patient. People taking the bus are not familiar with the city and need help. I liked that we could sit on top. The bottom was good to get out of the sun but air conditioning wasn't always running. The map was mostly good but one part was confusing to someone who’s never been to Athens

Perfect for a layover

Perfect tour for our layover in Athens. We got to see all the major spots in Athens and by riding the bus we were able to really see the city streets and locals in action. We meet at the first stop on the tour and received a voucher for a free beer inside Public and we had a chance to use the restroom also before the start of the tour. Loved the hop on and off option. It’s about a 20 min wait between buses. Definitely recommend.

We ended up not using our 2 day passes as our friends had other plans. We have used the Red Bus in many cities and have enjoyed it. We are planning on using it in Barcelona, too bad we can’t switch the tickets to that venue. Live and learn!

It was confusing because it said you can travel on all three color buses, however while booking when it asks us if we want 24/48/72 hour tickets we can confused thinking we can use all three buses in 24 hours. We unnecessarily ended up paying extra 24 euros. So while booking be careful to read it properly.

Very convenient service which covers the main areas and with various route options which meant we could easily explore further, including along the sea front (we used the bus to get to Lake Vouliagmeni which was a lovely way to spend a few hours). Great way to see the city and easy to use.

The ride was fun, the earphones worked well and the information was helpful. It was difficult to figure out where to be picked up with mo address but a Google maps search of hop on hop off put us in the correct spot. Pick up a map and download the app for the bus provider is highly recommended.

Avoid on Greek Labor Day

Greek Labor Day (May 1st). Most tourists sites closed, so thought hop on/off bus might be good. Unfortunately, protests closed streets, so route was greatly affected. Understandably, the driver was grumpy. But not understandably, he was VERY unhelpful for a paying customer: with how to use ear bud to listen to narrative. I had never ridden a hop on/off before, so just needed basic instruction. I sat in front seat and only asked at stop light when he seemed unoccupied. He pretty much ignored me. I travel a lot and hope my next on/off bus hopping in another city is better!
