We cannot say enough positive things about Faye and the incredible tour she provided of the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Acropolis Museum. Her knowledge of the history, archaeology, Greek mythology, and Athens itself was absolutely exceptional. What impressed us even more was her genuine passion and enthusiasm—it was contagious and brought every stop on the tour to life.
Faye paced the tour expertly, ensuring everyone, regardless of fitness or mobility level, was comfortable and able to keep up without ever feeling rushed. She was also constantly aware of potential slip and trip hazards on the ancient pathways, thoughtfully pointing them out throughout the tour while seamlessly continuing her fascinating commentary. That level of attentiveness made everyone feel safe without interrupting the experience.
We’ve been on guided tours all over the world, and Faye ranks among the very best guides we’ve ever had. While we can’t speak for every guide at Athens Walks, they have an absolute gem in Faye. She transformed what would have been an impressive visit into a truly memorable experience.
Thank you, Faye, for making our visit to one of the world’s greatest historical sites so engaging, educational, and enjoyable. We would recommend this tour—and especially Faye—to anyone visiting Athens without hesitation.

Doing this tour helped us get 8am entry tickets to the Acropolis the week before our trip when they were otherwise sold out via the official website. The tour guide was knowledgeable and was a good way to go deeper with the sites than we otherwise would have. The one downside (and a warning to other families) is that kids (in our case 8 and 11) had trouble keeping the earbuds in their ears which made it hard to hear and stay engaged with the tour. If I were doing it again I would have them bring headphones (and it would be even better if the tour company provided a kid-friendly option).

Artemis , our guide was excellent . Very clear and articulate. She did not leave anything important out of the tour . She made sure we were hydrated. Overall excellent experience.

First, I chose “family” although I traveled with my wife because there was no “Spouse” choice (there should be). Partner implies same-sex couples. Now to my review. I must have missed the level of difficulty on the tours description because I would not have booked it had I known we’d be climbing a steep mountain walking over very uneven and slippery large cobble-stones. Worse, my wife works out on our elliptical machine every day. Yet, she was experiencing severe cramps when we reached the top. We asked the tour guide if she could ride the elevator on the way down. She said she would no be allowed without a physician-issued certificate of disability (or something like it). She endured the painful descent with my assistance. The physical effort is at least a 3 out of 4 because, for people over 75 years of age (as we are), the clime was brutal.

Dorina was absolutely incredible. I walked out of the tour saying “wow that was worth the money”. Money well spent. Glad I chose to do the tour.

Worth it to see the sites and have a guide to explain the history. The tour guide was good but her English was a bit difficult to understand as she had a thick accent. Also it was extremely hot and sunny (July) so be prepared for that. For the money the tour was a little slight - short. Kind of a wham, bam, thank you ma'am experience. I would have liked it to be more substantial and maybe include lunch or something. We did not do the museum.

Ioanna made our Acropolis tour truly unforgettable. Her archaeological background gave the experience a depth you simply can’t get from a standard guide — she brought real scholarly insight to every site, weaving in historical and archaeological context that made the Acropolis come alive in a way I hadn’t expected.
She was warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing Greek history. If you want more than just facts and dates — if you want to actually understand what you’re looking at — book with Ioanna. Cannot recommend her more highly.

I was traveling with my kids who are 9 and 11. I wasn’t sure that they would be very interested, but they are both Percy Jackson fans so this was perfect. Our guide kept up a great pace walking, storytelling, and giving breaks in the shade. We added on the museum entrance and I’m glad we did. The guide told us some of the myths that went with the reliefs in the building. Kids are funny… my daughter repeated the story to us two days later. That’s when I realized how much she had absorbed. Overall, this was a great tour and I’m glad that we did it with someone who is certified- knowledge and enthusiasm make for a great experience.

The tour was great. We didn’t walk too fast so the climb to the top of the Acropolis was doable for everyone.

A great, well paced, informative tour of the acropolis and museum taking account of the heat. Our guide, Lydia, was very good and obviously very knowledgeable and experienced.

This was an amazing tour. Our tour guide ( I can’t remember her name but she had glasses) was sooo knowledgeable. You could really tell she knew her history. I liked that we got an earpiece so we could hear her clearly without her needing to yell. Check in was a little chaotic but they tell you where to go. I recommend doing the Acropolis museum too as that had good information. We did the 9am tour and it was hot but not unbearable. Our guide took various stops along shaded areas so it never felt uncomfortable.

Great tour of Acropolis and museum. Tour guide - John the Archeologist - was phenomenal. Encyclopaedic knowledge of history. Tour was very engaging. He made it very fun for folks with varying knowledge of Greek history.

Rough terrain walking up and down.
Our local tour guide was outstanding. Informative. The Parthenon is a must see so it was worth the climb. The museum was cool and interesting.
I highly recommend

Great guide to Acropolis. The guide was knowledgeable. It would’ve been difficult to know what and how it looked like without information our guide has provided. Thank you.
Elissa_H, Jul 2026
This tour was great! A nice leisurely climb of the Acropolis made it easier for everyone in our group. Pro tip: schedule yourself for the first tour of the day (8am) when there are fewer people and the temperature isn’t too high. Also, don’t skip the museum at the end. It is well worth the stop.

Our tour guide was super nice & definitely gave a lot of historical context to the entirety of the Acropolis & the pieces in the museum! She had a very calm demeanor at all times and ensured that we were all kept together before continuing on with the next sections. It was a great experience overall and definitely would highly recommend it to anyone visiting for the first time!

Best way to see Acropolis and museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Found out new information about Athena and Poseidon.

Costas is an amazing tour guide with a deep knowledge of the history of Ancient Greece. (I think he said he has a master's degree in archeology.) We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with him and highly recommend it. As 60-somethings, we had some concerns about how strenuous the climb would be up to the Acropolis, but Costas did a great job of taking us from one shady spot to another as we made the climb, and while we stood in the shade to rest, he told us more about the place. He did a great job at keeping the group together and moving us around a very busy site and he was very attentive to the group's needs. He also had a notebook of pictures and illustrations that he showed us throughout the tour to help us understand what these ancient sites may have actually looked like in their heyday. We learned so much about the Acropolis, and he also took us through the Acropolis Museum (this is an option you can choose - I highly recommend adding this to your tour). His comments throughout the museum were insightful and interesting. We booked the 8 am tour in June, and it was already pretty warm up there at that time of day. Going to the museum afterward was nice, because we had a chance to cool off in the air conditioning. This tour uses the whispers (audio ear pieces), which made it very easy to hear him. He recommended a place for lunch nearby called Opos Palia, and the food was great and inexpensive.

Try to go early, very little shade up on the Acropolis and mid day it gets very hot. Bring water. Other than that the tour guide was great and it was a very informative tour. Highly recommend
Andrea_M, Jul 2026
We did the 8:00 AM tour with Kostos including the museum. He provided us with an amazing experience and was very knowledgeable about all the history. I would 100% recommend. The tour provided information that we would’ve never gotten on our own.
Katie_H, Jul 2026
Our tour guide was WONDERFUL! She was very knowledgeable and made sure we had excellent views. We learned so much and loved the experience!
Ruth_S, Jun 2026
We found the tour very interesting. It was very hot and there is little shelter. Our tour guide was great. She had fantastic knowledge and was able to answer any questions. Amazing views from the top. The day we went there were three big cruise ships in the port. This meant it was very busy. Beware… It is very slippery where the stones are shiny and worn. Wear suitable shoes. We saw someone fall down the steps.
