South Coast of Iceland Day Trip

Well, not much to say, everything went well as expected. It was raining on & off on that day, 10/7/26. A driver picked up us on time and other passengers a long the way and he drove us along South Coast to stop at each location as scheduled, he gave us the time to be back to the minivan so we could see another location on time. He was a careful driver and brought us back to the hotel safely. That was all it counted!

A great if late evening

It looked a little touch and go being early in the season but the payoff was fantastic. I don't know if it was theatrics but our tour guide Christian was very knowledgeable and talked us through the process and seemed amazingly excited at the result when we finally saw everything in the sky after changing our location. There were a number of small touches such as personal photos, dressing up in Norse attire, and late night hot chocolate and cookies. A small enough group that you didn't feel alone but not overwhelming. While there are plenty of drop offs based upon where you were staying for the evening be careful of researching this as the tour ended at roughly 2:00 am in the morning downtown Reykjavik.

We were scheduled to take the Northern lights tour on Wednesday evening but due to the exceptional weather on Tuesday, the tour company allowed us to switch and it was spectacular. A Definite Must!

Five incredible stops! We loved the two different Artic Chars, the lamb shoulder, and the Rye bread ice cream were our favorites. But all of it was delicious! Bara our tour guide was friendly, fun, and knowledgeable! She made sure we were all well fed and when my husband missed out initially on the Artic Char, she made sure he got a piece. We also tried the fermented shark & chased it with a shot of Black Death-don't miss out on this! I highly recommend this food walking tour.

Great experience!

The sky lagoon was great! It's closer to Reykjavík so the taxi was less than if we had gone to the blue lagoon. It's not cheap but the experience was great. However it was pretty crowded at 5:30 pm when we went. Also going at that time meant more traffic so our cab fare was almost double the normal rate. But i really enjoyed the hot springs and the 7 step ritual. It was definitely worth the price

We had a great experience...

We had a great experience on this tour. The bus was comfortable and our navigator, Thora(sp), was awesome! She was very funny and knowledgeable. Our bonus stop to feed some Icelandic horses was so great! Finishing the day at the Blue Lagoon was the best final touch.

Worth every dollar!

I added this at the last minute as a fourth tour that day. It cost $166USD and was well worth every dollar. I decided to pay for the private package. It is really more of a semi-private situation and included a non-alcoholic drink. Take your time during the seven-step spa experience because once you move onto the next step you can't go back. Then take all the time you'd like in the lagoon.

The best part of this experience was feeling like you were on another planet. It really felt like you were immersed in Iceland and fully taking it in. The snowmobile was a little tricky to steer but the guides were great and quick to handle any situations. We are glad that we did this excursion!
