Tour guide was an expert and spent the whole ride there explaining the science of the Aurora. We were given tips on how to get the best photos. And the lights themself were breathtaking!

We went on the last night to see the Northern Lights and we saw them! Our tour guide was absolutely amazing and his passion was evident! It was cold, but he stood out there the entire time, and would run to the bus if he saw something! He was extremely optimistic and knowledgeable and was able to help us see something truly breathtaking!

This was the most incredible experience. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the auras. They took us to a remote location out by the lighthouse where it was really dark and we were able to see the auras. It was definitely the highlight of our trip.

We were lucky on April 20th and were treated to a spectacular northern light show. Might be once in a lifetime for us and so grateful the tour ran late into the season. It was a late night but so worth it.

Our first night didn’t have luck on our side for Auroras. If you don’t see any, they offer up a tour for free to give you another opportunity. Our second tour the next evening was amazing! An abundance of Northern Lights for mid to late April. It was a great experience. I’d advise booking your first night(s) of your trip to give you the best chance to see the lights, in case there’s a need to reschedule.

The tour was well put together and the tour guide was organized. She was informative and made the experience positive. I had a great time and would recommend the tour to anybody. It was a freezing the night that I saw the northern lights but the hot chocolate helped to keep me warm. I nice addition to a great night.

Skies were decent and Robert and Tanya were excellent! Robert minimized the bumps driving and Tanya gave a great job in explaining the Northern Lights.

This tour is for chasing the Northern lights and try to locate it. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee it will be successful. However, they offer another one if during the 1st one it was impossible to see it.

We attended this tour, but was very unhappy with it and disappointed. To start, the guide was 15 min late and everybody waiting was very confused as to what was going on. We knew going into it that we might not see the northern lights, however, the tour guide kept going farther and farther from Reykjavík to try and find the lights and separated from other tour buses that we originally started with. There was already weather when we left, but we got stuck in a blizzard on the way back to the city. Safety was not a top concern by the guide at all and the roads were scary to be on in a tour bus. We also ended up getting back to the bus stop after 2am. The guide didn’t offer to drop people off anywhere else other than the bus stops, even with how late it was and it was a complete white out. Also, the pin that is given through the app for the meetup point is wrong and takes you about 0.5 miles away from the actual meetup. Overall, not a great experience and should have just stayed back at the hotel.

Our pickup process operates within a stated 30-minute window before departure, and weather conditions in Iceland can change very quickly, especially on evening tours. Northern Lights tours also require guides to adjust routes according to the best available conditions at the time. We also note that drop-offs are operated at the designated stops used for the service. We appreciate your comments and regret that the overall experience left you dissatisfied.

This was an amazing experience. You will have to do your research on the probability of seeing the lights based on the season and weather conditions. Our tour guide did a great job of setting expectations that we would see the lights. He delivered.

I was disappointed about the fact that there is not a clear information that the possibility of not be able to see nothing of the northern lights was real. Despite of this my I do understand that the weather conditions are a major factor for success. So the bus driving for 4 hours became a negative experience in search for a spot.
If you wish to experience this activity I advise you not to do on the last day of your trip, like I did because the travel agency do propose you for another day tour..

Of course, we know there are no guarantees for this tour. However, our guide somehow was able to see what we could not so that we were able to point our cameras and see the meager show nature had for us. Unfortunately, cloud cover impacted our view.
I awarded four stars only because our guide tended to ramble and contradict himself at times. He also did not wear any reflective clothing or patches so that we easily lost him in the crowds as he led us to different areas to look for the lights. My friend lost him on the way to the only place we viewed the lights, so she just returned to the bus, completely missing out. I lost him on the way back and couldn’t find our bus due to other busses blocking my view of it. It was worth a try, even though the lights were weak.

This tour was amazing! The bus picked us up from our hotel, on time. Our guide, Hamsel, was very knowledgeable and skilled! He knew where to look for holes in the cloud cover and we chased the aurora. We saw it at 3 different locations! The last one was the best, with the green and pink swirls dancing in the sky—more beautiful than I ever imagined! I’ve been dreaming of seeing the Northern Lights my whole life. I’ve witnessed them in the Midwest a few times but it was nothing like this! I’m so happy that Mother Nature cooperated with our talented tour guides to give us an amazing show! I could have stayed out there all night but the tour had to end. I highly recommended this tour!

The guide was nice. Unfortunately, we did not see the northern lights properly due to the weather condition. However, company offered us to book the trip on another day for free. So it was nice of them.

This tour was on a night that had all the makings of being a disappointment. Skies were super cloudy and all the apps had the percent chance of show at 10%. But our guide was committed! All the other tour buses started leaving and then one minute after they left the most beautiful lights display filled the sky and we were the only ones to see it!!

Coming to Iceland, I knew that it wasn’t always possible to see the Northern Lights. In the days leading up to the tour, it seemed like my odds were 50/50. As we were driving out of Reykjavík, Kristi was teaching us about the science of the Northern Lights. About 20 minutes into our drive, she exclaimed that we could see them out the bus window! We pulled over as soon as possible and had a great view of the Lights. As a solo traveler, I don’t have many photos of myself but Kristi was more than happy to take photos of me with the Lights. We stayed in the same spot for an hour or two and got to enjoy the show. Overall the tour was great, Kristi was amazing, and seeing the Lights was the best birthday gift :)

It was canceled due to the weather. No fault of visitors but website wouldn’t let me reschedule. It would not be fun in the weather Iceland was having.

Rescheduling isn’t always possible through the reseller/website portal itself. Guests need to contact BusTravel Iceland directly (reply to our cancellation email/SMS or message us) and we’ll arrange the rebooking, subject to availability.

On the way there David our tour guide warned us it’s possible we might not see the northern lights but to everyone’s delight, we saw a won derful display! David hadn’t been to this location before and our driver, suggested it and it was outstanding! David told us it was a corona, which is not common! Over the top satisfied and now I can check off another bucket list item😊

We had such a great experience on our Northern Lights bus tour with Kristi and Robert. They were both friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. Robert handled the winter driving like a pro, and Kristi kept us informed about the weather and what we were looking for without overdoing it. You could tell they genuinely wanted everyone to have the best chance possible to see the lights, and they were patient about finding the right spot away from city lights.
When the aurora finally appeared, it was absolutely worth the wait. They also helped with camera settings, which made a big difference for photos. Overall, it felt well-organized but relaxed, and we never felt rushed. I’d definitely recommend going with Kristi and Robert if you’re hoping to see the Northern Lights.
