Fun and educational!
I booked this experience hoping to just play pretend samurai, but I left there with more than I expected! Hyoga took the time to explain some of the history of samurai in Japan and the meaning behind the language, movements, and techniques used. It was very interesting to see some of the similarities between what we learned and the anime I’ve watched over the years. It was educational, but we had a great time doing the fun stuff too! We got to use a katana, shuriken, and more! I recommend for the entire family.

A fantastic experience...
A fantastic experience that I’d recommend to anyone visiting Japan! Sensei Sousen and our guide and translator Nono were excellent in guiding us through the 3 Japanese alphabets, making our own ink, writing the kanji for ‘samurai’, choosing kanji for our own name, practicing writing our name in kanji, and finally writing onto a t-shirt as a great souvenir (which is an additional optional charge). It was such a memorable experience made better by the warm welcome and the great people we shared the experience with!

Perfect blend of history, culture, hands-on experience
This was a wonderful and memorable experience - highly recommend. It was the perfect mix of history and hands-on experience. We learned so much and had a great time. We loved hearing about the clan history, the various weapons, dressing as a ninja, trying some skills out. The woman who owns the dojo (whose descended from a great samurai house) and the gentleman samurai and female scribe were great - so kind and knowledgeable.

A fun little activity to...
A fun little activity to do, we were really happy with our finished chop sticks. Surprised ourselves how nice they were. The experience does include 3 standard wood options but as with everything there is and upsell, there are some beautiful wood options which are considerably more expensive so understand that and also they will do engraving of your name in Japanese for yen 1000, a bit pricey for what took a couple of minutes but it was a nice touch. Altogether we were happy with what we did and everyone teaching you were really nice and happy to help.
