The tour included an hour-long boat ride in a small boat with a limited number of people—perfect for a more intimate experience! This was such an enjoyable introduction to Port. Visited 3 houses for tasting - all delicious. Guide was absolutely amazing. Alex was utterly charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly and as a solo traveller made me feel really included: he brought the group all together! Honestly one of the best guides I’ve ever experienced! No pressure to buy port but I did in the final small producer! It’s delicious.

This was best tour we experienced. Alexis was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Her language skills were exceptional. We felt very safe with Tiaga, our driver, at the wheel. He handled the traffic and landscape changes with excellent skill. The wine tasting experience exceeded our expectations. And lunch at the traditional Portuguese restaurant high on the hill was phenomenal. Many, many thanks for guiding our tour and creating wonderful memories.

We had a fantastic experience with Douro Boat man. It’s a family run company and we were really looked after on our private trip. We cruised along the river and given a great history lesson about Porto and the Douro Valley. They were great with my son who had a fantastic time and the wine and port flowed. We would massively recommend them.

Great Trip through The Valley

Great tour - plan for a full 10+ hours. The wineries were both excellent and lunch was plentiful (as was the wine). The hour on the river was also a highlight. Marc (our driver) got us safety there and back and Igor made it fun while we learned a lot about the Valley and its wine. Lots of opportunity to buy wine as well

We were told about interesting sites along the way. There were beautiful scenery all along the cruise. A great lunch was served, with abundant beverages. The most interesting event for me, was the experience of going through two sets of locks where the river elevation dropped about 50 feet, each time. Over all, it was a very pleasant experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this cruise over the short bridge cruises. The nicest advantage of this cruise is that, you have a choice of being outside when you choose or inside in climate controlled comfort.

What an incredible day! Bruno was our host and provided one of the beat day tours we have ever taken. Bruno was very personable and strived to make sure our small group had the best Douro valley tour possible. Each vineyard gave us a personal tour and samplings of their vineyards. NO PRESSURE TO BUY ANYTHING! Enjoy the samplings and move on to the next item on the itinerary. The small, family-owned restaurant was perched on top of the valley, providing an incredible view. Highly recommend!

Be prepared to do a lot...

Be prepared to do a lot of walking up and done hills as well as climbing stairs. We walked about 5 miles the day we went. Our tour leader Pedro was VR knowledgeable about the area and told us which sites that were worth visiting and suggested places to eat to enjoy authentic Portugese food. The wine tasting host was excellent.
