What an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Douro Valley! Our guide Carlos truly made the entire day so special from beginning to end. He was full of optimism, positivity, and such great energy, and you could immediately tell how much he genuinely enjoys what he does. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the Douro Valley, Portuguese history, wine, culture, and the different places we visited, but what we loved most was the way he shared everything. He was relatable, engaging, funny, and so easy to talk to, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. He went out of his way to make sure everyone was comfortable, entertained, and enjoying themselves. He was patient with questions, attentive to the entire group, and always had something interesting or funny to add. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his positive personality really set the tone for the whole day. We laughed so much and learned so much at the same time! The Douro Valley itself is absolutely breathtaking, but having such a wonderful guide made the experience ten times better. By the end of the tour, it honestly felt more like we had spent the day exploring Portugal with a knowledgeable local friend rather than simply being on a tour. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal, and we will remember it for a very long time. If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide, you are in for an amazing day. The yacht was gorgeous, the crew was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the rounding area. When it came to the wine, it flowed endlessly served with delicious meat and cheeses. A beautiful way to see Porto from the river relaxing for a couple of hours!

Book with Zé!

What an experience! My husband and I took the 6:30 pm tour with guide, Zé. He was incredible - fun, super knowledgeable on the bridges and adjacent areas, and gave us a ton of recs for the trip. He also served us the areas popular wines, huge plus. A tip: waters are choppy during the sunset part of the day, waters are still (with less boats) in the morning. I’m so glad we went the private route opposed to the larger boat, the experience was much more intimate.

Excellent tour

Our guide Jose was very good, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We had enough free time in Braga for Brunch, so don’t worry if you miss breakfast. In your hotel. The coach was comfortable and the journey didn’t take too long. Braga and Guimaraes are beautiful places to visit and the Bom Jesus cathedral just outside Braga is stunning and well worth a visit. I would recommend this tour.

This tour was perfect for me to get a taste of the Douro Valley for the whole day. We went to some two wonderful wineries with great knowledgeable hosts and great porto! Lunch was tasty and authentically Portuguese at the first winery. The river cruise along the Douro was beautiful - a great way to end the tour before going back to Porto. Fun time

Had a fun time visiting the wineries and learning about the wine region. The wines were good and we had plenty different kinds to try. The guide Rita was funny and inviting and had interesting information to share about the region and the wine culture here. They made ample bathroom stops and the lunch was pretty good. Definitely recommend it but we didn’t spend as much time on the river as I thought we would.

Amazing, worth upgrading to larger 48ft boat

What an amazing experience on a beautiful boat, our hosts Marianna and Antonio were brilliant so friendly whole experience relaxing and fun. We upgraded to the bigger boat if thinking of booking so worth the upgrade as it’s a really beautiful boat and so luxurious. Lots of wine!

This is a walking tour, but it is not hard. Plenty of wine and there was no pressure to purchase. I recommend bringing some crisps or nuts, or buying some on site. It's truly a lot of wine. I met lovely people in my group and was pleased that there were a few other solo travelers on the tour.

A Wonderful Experience!!

We had an amazing time and we would highly recommend this experience. This company kept in touch with us with reminder emails and was clear about the meeting point sending us details and a photo of the meeting point which was extremely helpful. The bus trip through beautiful scenery was truly relaxing and very comfortable. We were 4 friends together and we felt welcomed aboard the boat. It really helped that we had lovely blue skies, good music and amazing 3 course meal with drinks. The staff were helpful and the delightful scenery was breathtaking. We loved the experience of going through the locks. We would highly recommend this trip to those who want to glimpse the true essence of the Portuguese countryside, culture and atmosphere. We would certainly do this trip again.

One of the best day trips ever!

This was one of our best day trips ever. We felt very lucky to have Afonso as our guide and driver and found him to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, courteous and kind, patiently answering all of our questions. We enjoyed all of the stops on the trip and felt that the time spent at each was perfect. The scenery was magnificent, we enjoyed all of the estate tours and wine and olive oil tasting and came away with so much more knowledge at the end of the day. Words cannot describe the delicious local lunch with views of the Douro Valley. Sublime. We were the only two people on the tour so thank you to Oporto Sensations for not cancelling.
