Top Ponta Delgada Day Trips

This tour incorporated a lot into the day. We saw so much of the island and Henry, our guide was amazing. He answered so many of our questions, was so nice and professional. We saw some awesome views. This is a tour that I’d highly recommend- and ask for Henry.

The buggy ride was really fun and we ended up seeing several amazing view points even though we couldn’t see the blue and green lakes from the viewpoints as there was too much fog. We did get to ride around them on a trail and it was beautiful. The guide was really good and patient with the group. It was an amazing experience.

Carlos was very kind, knowledgeable, caring and flexible. He picked us up at the cruise ship dock on time and toured us all around at our pace. He explained the historic and significant spots of interest and answered all of our questions. When we needed to stop for a restroom and lunch he gave us our choice of options. Carlos is the man! And the Azores are just amazing! Lastly he got us back to our cruise ship in plenty of time.

Wonderful experience! Our tour guide, Bruno, was amazing. Very knowledgeable of the areas and quite entertaining! We saw some incredible sites. I would recommend choosing one specific ‘area’ focus. Otherwise lots of driving time. No fault of their part.

Wonderful tour! Marco was very engaging and made sure we had a great day, despite the uncooperative weather. He shifted the itinerary as the day went on to give us the best sights and stops. The box lunch was delicious local bread and cheese. We had booked the 3 hour tour, and at the end, he offered for us to continue on, which we happily did. You won’t go wrong with this tour!

We had an incredible experience from start to finish. We arrived via cruise, and he was already waiting inside the terminal holding a sign with my name, which made the pickup seamless and stress-free. From that moment on, everything felt easy and well-organized. What really stood out was how the tour didn’t feel scripted or generic. Instead of a typical guide, it felt like being shown around by a knowledgeable friend who genuinely loves his island. He shared insights, stories, and details that made the experience feel personal and engaging. We especially appreciated how flexible and thoughtful he was throughout the day. He adjusted the itinerary on the fly to avoid the fog and take us to the best viewpoints, which made a huge difference. It never felt rushed, and it was clear he cared about making sure we had the best possible experience. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a more personalized and memorable tour.

This tour was a highlight of our 15-day transatlantic cruise. We had friends that did the Royal Caribbean (ship) excursion and from what we heard, there is just no comparison. Our driver and tour operator Luis was amazing! He took us on dirt "paths" to viewpoints that no bus would ever get to. We did visit the main tourist attractions but also spent a lot of time "off road". We requested lunch at a local's restaurant and again, Luis came through. I ordered the Azores specialty - Octopus, and while it was not my favorite, I can see how people would like it. This whole day was just so much fun! We had the opportunity to customize our tour but mostly just had Luis take us to his favorite spots.

We had a great time exploring Furnas Lake, Carla, our guide was not only very knowledgeable but also very proud about her Island and gave us lots of information. We loved the experience of “Cozido à la portuguesa” very unique Portuguese experience. 💯 recommended
