We were picked up at our hotel in a minibus by a friendly driver/group organizer and driven to Aufschwitz I and II. A tour guide assigned to each group takes over at the sites and leads the tours. Each site has a parking lot that the van parks at and the groups meet up with their guide for the tour. It’s a hectic setting, that by virtue of the volume of tourists requires punctuality and a brisk pace. You need to be capable of moving at the quick pace of the group between buildings, as the next group is right on your heels. Our guide was well spoken and respectful. While there is a use of microphone and hearing devices at site I, sometimes it’s a bit hard to hear things clearly. We ordered a lunch which we ate very quickly at site I parking lot area. It was OK. After site II at Birkenau, we were left for 15 mins to use washroom and grab a snack if desired, then dropped at our hotel upon return to Krakow. I would recommend this tour offering as it was professionally run, respectful and informative.

Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau was an experience I will never forget. It was incredibly informative, deeply moving and absolutely heartbreaking all at the same time. It's difficult to put into words how it feels to stand in a place where so many innocent people suffered and lost their lives. Although emotional, I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit and learn more about such an important part of history. I would highly recommend booking this experience through Viator. From start to finish, everything was so well organised. Our driver picked us up close to our hotel, was extremely friendly and made the journey comfortable and stress-free. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic. So knowledgeable, informative and respectful throughout. The way the history was explained really helped us understand the scale of what happened, while always showing sensitivity towards those who suffered. It was a heartbreaking experience, but one I feel everyone should have the opportunity to experience if they can. A day that will stay with me forever. Thank you to everyone involved for making such an important and emotional visit so well organised. I couldn't recommend booking through Viator enough.

There are “lots!” Of stairs down to the mine. I was surprised how good the actual stairs were though, I expected the stairs to be made from the rock salt but they were wood and modern, so easily navigated, especially as you were going down! Prepare for quite a bit of walking as there are literally miles under ground!! The open mine was amazing, there were sculptures all made out of Salt (Obv) My wife was finding the walking difficult (especially after the climb down) but one of the guides noticed this and when we walked towards the lifts back to the surface, as we were right at the back of our group, he directed us a different route and we went up a different lift. There were only 3 of us so we basically had our own lift and it brought us back to the surface, right near where our minibus was parked, rather than having to cram into a lift with lots of people and then have another quite long walk back to the minibus! An excellent trip. Our driver Jerry from Cracow For You was great he was in constant touch with us via WhatsApp and he even took us on a short sightseeing trip around Krakow on the way back. 10/10 would highly recommend this trip!!
