DDay walking in the footsteps of history

wear comfy shoes and layers as weather is changeable at the different locations. take a drink and small snack with you as it is a busy itinerary. you will stand where the landings happened and really get a sense of the scale of the defensive position and how challenging that was to overcome. the cemetery is surprisingly beautiful and so well cared for. if you have ever watched a film about DDay you will recognise place names and if you haven’t then you should before or after the trip. having a guide who has thoroughly researched the events and personal stories made the experience. we were in a group of 8 made up of 4 couples- from Scotland, Ireland, Sweden and USA so a very mixed group and we all found it superb.

Stephane who took us talked almost all the way around, a great deal of information was given out to us. He also had us all introduce ourselves to each other, which made more of an interesting trip as we chat amongst ourselves every now and then.We also started at the American cemetery as he said it gets very busy later on. All in all a very good afternoon.

The tour covers not only D-Day's timeline and beyond, but also almost 30 miles of Normandy coastline. Our tour leader, Alex, spoke to us about the Allies' overall plans as well as specifics for numerous days of the battle. His sense of humor and ability to answer questions was admirable. Excellent Normandy Tour — Informative, Well Organized, and Great Value

We booked this tour because the cruise ship’s excursion had already sold out, and we were also happy to find that this tour was less expensive. We were very pleased with our decision! Our tour guide, Sam, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about Normandy and did a wonderful job explaining the events leading up to, during, and following D-Day. His knowledge and storytelling really brought the history to life and made the experience both educational and memorable. The tour was very well organized and ran right on time. As cruise passengers, we especially appreciated that we returned to the ship with plenty of time before departure, which made the day completely stress-free. VEXPERIO also did a great job with communication. They provided clear instructions on where to meet, and they had staff members outside the terminal to guide us to the bus, making the meeting process easy and straightforward. Overall, this was an excellent tour and a great value. We would highly recommend VEXPERIO to anyone visiting Normandy, especially fellow cruise passengers looking for a well-organized and informative Normandy tour.

Great brief tour of Omaha Beach and American Cemetary

Excellent tour. It was brief for those that unfortunately cannot spend more than 1/2 day. It was a 2 1/2 hour train ride from Paris and Charles had us for about 4 1/2 hours. He is an excellent guide and knows a lot of history. We are so glad we came. We got an air-conditioned van and went to Long Sur Mer (point du Hoc was closed), then we went to Omaha Beach to the American cemetery. Charles even dropped us off at the train station.

Exceptional full day tour— to all the important D-Day sites!

Tour guide (Pascal) was knowledgeable, passionate, and entertaining! He kept our entire group interested as he shared historical information, photos, and anecdotes about D-Day in Normandie. We visited many historic sites that helped reinforce this period in history. The pace was good for folks of all ages and the transportation was very comfortable. Pascal was also a very good driver. This was a full day tour (9-5) but it flew by because Pascal was so interesting! I highly recommend this tour!

Informative and emotional

Our guide, Thierry, was very knowledgeable. He added a lot to the tour with his detailed stories about some of the men who fought in these battles, and the tactics and strategies of the combatants and their commanders. He used pictures and maps of the action in his presentation. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be ready for a few close quarters and steps in the bunkers. Also be ready to stand as your tour guide details what happened in these areas in 1944. Come with your questions. Our guide time the ending to be at the EOD taps and flag lowering.
