Beautiful but sobering

The bus was comfortable for the two-hour ride from the ship and the countryside was filled with beautiful glimpses of the Normandie area. Ash, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the D-Day invasion and gave I rightful perspectives from both the American and German perspectives. Both cemeteries were beautiful but sobering when remembering the young lives lost during the battles along Utah and Omaha beaches. Pointe de Hoc was a troubling, but important site to visit. We’ll with it!

Our guide, Axelle was very knowledgeable about D-Day and WWII and welcomed our many questions and discussion points. Burt did a great job educating us about World War II and how the war impacted Normandy. Burt's love for history and commitment to learning was evident. As an US Army veteran, I didn't know what to expect. The tour hit all of the high points. We did not feel rushed at the scheduled stops which allowed Burt to educate us and then we had enough time to explore individual interests. Highly recommend this tour!

The invasion and liberation of Normandie in 9 short hours.

Amazing tour. Our guide, Pierre, was extremely knowledgeable and wonderfully pieced together the history of D-Day and much of the impacts WWI-WWII had on France. Pickup and drop off was a breeze, and along the way and at each stop there was always a piece of history or a detail to be pointed out. The weight of history is evident in nearly all the stops. Walking the sands of Omaha and Utah beaches, walking among the bombed our craters of Point Du Hoc, observing the urban battlefield that is Sainte-Mère-Église, and among the rows upon rows of crosses at the hallowed grounds at the American Cemetery. I will not forget this experience for the rest of my days.

A day in Bayeux

A Tour de force

Helene was our guide and was terrific. This tour was flexible with destinations so we were never rushed. We could spend more time at locations based on what we liked. The paratrooper museum was great and instead of Utah beach we went to Arromanches where the British and Canadians landed and part of the artificial reef still survives.
